Heidi | 2372 comments I liked Bruiser but was disappointed in the ending and (view spoiler) I gave it 4 stars though so obviously I liked it a lot.

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Heidi, I'm not entirely sure what a suitable ending for this kind of book would be. I'm not really sure where the story's going.
I'll find out eventually, I guess.

I tried reading that book, but I found it to be so cliché dystopian that I had to put it down. I just didn't think it was well-written. But everyone is different, maybe you'll see something that I didn't.

Hope you enjoy it, it's in my plans to read this one soon. But I thought the other books where about another girl and not from America POV, and its like another story? is it like that?

I haven't read many dystopian books so I don't know if I will find it cliché :/ but I have a little bit of expectation.

I finished All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven and overall I thought it was really good. The dust jacket said it was a cross between The Fault in our Stars and Eleanor & Park. I did kind of see the FiOS thing, as Finch was a little weird and crazy like Gus, but other than that, I think those are poor comparisons. This is a pretty dark read, and I'm honestly amazed I was able to finish it. Not because it was bad, but because its kind of a hard issue for me to read about. But I did see that ending coming from a mile away. I still cried quite a bit though! I thought the author was very brave to write this book, too, IMO. I see its merit, but the end was SO DEPRESSING. Like, really, worse than Allegiant at the end! So I gave it 4.5 stars just because it bummed me so much! Don't read this book if you're in a bad place!

Okay, ramble over.

Right now reading Dark Metropolis (Dark Metropolis, #1) by Jaclyn Dolamore , almost done, and really into it! Also going to start Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles, #3.5) by Marissa Meyer soon!

Planning on reasing all the bright places, I only heard good things about it. Might push it back since its so depressing, I dont care for sad books.
am about 100 pages into talon and loving it.

Oda, let me warn you; it is VERY dark and deals with a lot of very heavy subject matter. You will have to be emotionally prepared for this one.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments I finished Saga, Volume 1 (Saga #1-6) by Brian K. Vaughan Saga, Volume 2 (Saga #7-12) by Brian K. Vaughan Saga, Volume 3 (Saga #13-18) by Brian K. Vaughan and absolutely loved them. They're for "mature readers", so I can't recommend them to everyone, but if you're of an age/maturity level that you can read them, I recommend them highly.

Up next I'll really get started on The Necromancer (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #4) by Michael Scott and I'll try to have that and Amulet, Vol. 4 The Last Council (Amulet, #4) by Kazu Kibuishi Amulet, Vol. 5 Prince of the Elves (Amulet, #5) by Kazu Kibuishi and Amulet, Vol. 6 Escape From Lucien (Amulet, #6) by Kazu Kibuishi by Monday, when I plan on returning some things to the library then hanging out and writing for a while.

Dumb might not be the best word but I just remember thinking several times that these kids were all supposed to be really smart but they didn't catch on to things or make smart decisions at times. I can't remember specifics since it has been awhile.

message 11929: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca McCray (RebPai) | 195 comments I finished reading The Assassin Who Couldn't Dance by Glen Barrera . Entertaining thriller, of sorts. Moves at a fast-pace and I love the characters. Now, back to fantasy. I'm 20% into Red-Line The Shift by J.T. Bishop . The narrator style isn't my favorite (third party, full omniscient), but it's entertaining so far.

message 11931: by Victoria (last edited Mar 15, 2015 09:12AM) (new)

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments I finished Darkness Devouring on Friday. After that I read the 2nd edition of At the End (though this is technically a re-read, because I read the 1st edition back in August 2012) and then read its sequel Into Cinders (which I finished earlier today). All three books were really good, though I did find it irritating how free the author was with curse words (I don't like excessive use of curse words in books).

I haven't quite finished listening to my audio copy of The Red Queen yet; I'm about two thirds of the way through it. I am enjoying it though.

I've also just started reading Uncle Tom's Cabin on my Kindle.

Mainly because I've been distracted by the Locke & Key graphic novels by Joe Hill & Gabe Rodriguez. They're fantastic and twisted and so well done.
