It made me very sad too, but I'm impressed by the author's willingness to go down the dark realistic path that he did.

Oh yeah, it's an awesome series. The last book out blew me away and gave me a serious book hang over. I can't wait for the next one to come out.

message 11860: by Teresa (new)

Teresa So The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini was awesome and heart breaking. I definitely would recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it especially in light of what's going on in the world today with all the turmoil in that region.

I'm reading Flip (Slip, #3) by David Estes and just started listening to Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1) by Kristin Cashore . Like Daniel, I just haven't been in a fantasy mood for quite a while now. I loved high fantasy for years and years, so not sure what happened.

Flip had me up until 2 a.m. last night and I had to force myself to put it down to sleep. Almost didn't!

Graceling, I'm only 10% in and haven't reached that point of getting sucked in yet. Hopefully soon. I can see potential. ;)

I really enjoyed Graceling. The follow up books take place in the same world but don't follow the same characters(for the most part). I DNF Fire, that one I just could not get into at all

Michelle I just finished Panic by Lauren Oliver which wasn't my kind of book. I didn't really like it.

Now I am reading Stolen Songbird (The Malediction Trilogy, #1) by Danielle L. Jensen .

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments I think I'll start Bruiser by Neal Shusterman today- a book that Jenny picked for my PIFM two months ago that I never got around to reading.
I don't read a lot of paranormal, but here's hoping this is a good one!

I've heard lots of mixed reviews on Panic. But honestly, all of Lauren's books seem to have that issue! I am going to try it at some point, I just love her as a writer, so I HAVE to read it!

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments 50 pages through Bruiser by Neal Shusterman and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE.
The writing is so eloquent yet simple, and Tennyson is already one of my favourite male characters.

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments I guess I should have expected to like it.
I loved Unwind. Wasn't big on the Skinjacker book, but that was only because the target audience was younger.
Shusterman is quite gifted.

I've liked all of them so far, but I do have some issues with the pacing. Like, the first 3 books really happened over 3 days? Kind of hard to swallow haha.
I took a small break to read some comics for a day or two :)

I've got both of these on my shelf - I have to start them one of these days! I hope you like them! :)

message 11896: by Alison (new)

Alison Morquecho (thebookishcamper) | 787 comments Gonna be rereading Dorothy must die, I didn't like it that much. I was very confused and honestly just not into it. But I blame it on the fact that before I read it the week before I read darkest minds and never fade which I loved a ton and then right after that I read the chaos walking swries which was amazing, so then I started Dorothy must die and didn't get into it and I think because I had just read these 2 awesome series, so I am trying again before I read the second one
