The first few books feel a little juvenile...maybe because its in a school and its a lot of social teen drama? I thought things got better with the 3rd book,we get to see more of the world building and "politics" of this society...then it just builds and builds from there! LOVED the last 3 books in that series! I still need to read the spin off series too. "

Yeah, in book 1 most of the things that really interested me were kind of mentioned in passing. Good to hear they touch up on it more. If the books get any better, it's a safe bett I'll like the series since I didn't dislike book 1 at all.

Well let us know what you think as you read on. If book 4 is really good I might start reading pick up where I left off.

I loved Girl of Nightmares, but not as much as the first book. Burn for Burn was just okay for me. Reminded me a lot of Pretty Little Liars, with more "mean girls" than creepy.

I finished reading Night of Cake & Puppets (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #2.5) by Laini Taylor and I definitely recommend it if you enjoyed the series! Such a sweet story of Mik and Zuzana's first date :) AND its told from both of their perspectives, which is fun, and the writing is wonderful! Laini is such a good writer!

Now reading an eARC--a DAVID ESTES eARC no less!!!! I'm not far in yet, but so far I am hooked and loving it!

yes I agree(not that the first 3 books were juvenile but that it really really gets going with book 4) I geuss its that things change so much by the 3rd book that anything after that is mind blowing.
But then again tommy, thers some people who read the whole series and dident love it, so its very individual.

Oh, of course. I generally go into things with low expectations, so it's pretty hard for a series to let me down even if I don't fall in love with it.
