Heidi | 2372 comments Jen I listened to all 3 Wolves of Mercy Falls on audio. Even though I love Jenna Lamia alas even she could not get me to love the second and third books.

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments The library FINALLY transported the books I placed a hold on to my home branch, so I can go pick them up. I haven't read anything for too long. *sigh*
Should I read The Prey (The Hunt, #2) by Andrew Fukuda , an action-thriller book... or Beat the Band (Swim the Fly, #2) by Don Calame , a light and funny book...

I agree - and I, too, flew through these.

BUT my favorite ending in a post-apocalyptic has to be Sunrise

Heather What is the first book called?

message 8416: by Cindee (new)

Cindee | 331 comments Heather wrote: "What is the first book called?"

Ashfall. The first book was awesome, I didnt enjoy the second book as much, but that doesn't mean anything when the conclusion book comes.

I felt the same way with Monument 14, first was awesome, second ok, third was awesome, so it balances out lol

Hi Heidi, neither am I by a long way.The trilogy has been such a hit, I was keen to understand the appeal. There were some elements missing for me in terms of the back story and world building and other parts that didn't feel believable. That said, it was well written, had a few likeable characters and great pacing throughout.

Hi Karen, hope not. I can't wait that long, although George has threatened to kill off more characters if people don't stop pressurising him to finish all seven. Better not be any more Starks! I couldn't have stopped half way through, always feel the need to see a book through to the bitter end whether I'm enjoying it or not. I put it down to having a bit of OCD ;)

When I read A Song of Ice and Fire #1-4 A Game of Thrones/A Clash of Kings/A Storm of Swords/A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin , I thought it was a complete series. I was halfway through that 5th book when I found out it wasn't and it took years to publish the next books. I also found that it felt like each book ended in the middle of the story anyway. I normally don't put books down either but didn't mind so much with this particular series. Come on George!!! I had heard that too about him threatening to kill off more characters. Hahaaa!

I've got Bruiser by Neal Shusterman 7th on the waiting list. lol

Awesome!
I have a whole bunch of things I have to get through (see list above) but I can bump up Shatter Me over Angelfall. I should be ready to go either next week or the week after that, if that's ok.

Alison Morquecho (thebookishcamper) | 787 comments so I need some advice. I am going to start code name verity tomorrow, but after that I plan on reading harry potter. but I'm wondering if I should read a few stand alone or quick trilogy reads before harry potter since there are so many books and since they are pretty long. or should I just get right into.harry potter?

Straight into Harry Potter and don't stop until you've finished it! That's what I did and it was epic. Just my opinion :)

message 8435: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments I'd go straight into HP, Alison.
HP is a long series, but reads really quick. I read the entire series in two weeks this January, and I'm not a fast reader at all. It helps that the series is really fun and engaging.

Jenna Lamia could get me to love the phone book. Or possibly the national budget, if Dan Bittner joined her.

message 8439: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments I just finished my very first grown-up scifi, Hyperion (Hyperion Cantos, #1) by Dan Simmons . Now I'm starting The Fall of Hyperion (Hyperion Cantos, #2) by Dan Simmons and hope it's just as good. It's pretty epic.

Also working on some things for the Underhyped Readathon, which is going on over on Twitter and BookTube, and also has its own GR group. I've finished a couple of books so far but currently reading

Toxic Heart (Mystic City, #2) by Theo Lawrence Like Moonlight at Low Tide by Nicole Quigley and listening to After the End (After the End #1) by Amy Plum

Up after that -
The Other Side of the Island by Allegra Goodman Pulse by Acacia Green Wings (Black City, #3) by Elizabeth Richards Anywhere But Here (The Starborn Ascension #1) by Jason D. Morrow
