Is it about the lead singer of My Chemical Romance circa 2003-2004?

I jest :]

This series does sound interesting, though. I marked it as want to read but am a bit hesitant towards horror books in general, ESPECIALLY zombies. If anyone could sell me on it beyond those two aspects, I would be very appreciative.

Tommy, I never read or watched ANYthing with zombies! I then read this book and it completely got me hooked. The books are not really about zombies as much as the characters, the world and their story. It actually makes the zombies less horrific and more "human".

I still don't like horrific zombie stories but really loved this series!

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Currently reading The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan !!
65% through and really liking it!!! Not as much as Percy Jackson yet, because I still haven't been able to connect to the new characters, but I think that will come with time. I didn't REALLY start loving PJ until the third book.
I think Jason's going to make or break the book. I like his personality so far, but I haven't been able to get a crystal clear image of what he looks like in my head. I'm trying to make him look too perfect. lol All it says in the book is close-cropped blond hair and sky blue eyes. That could mean anything. Hopefully I can decide on what he looks like soon and tell my brain to remember. lol

What's crazy is I actually really love horror/zombies on screen, but they rarely work for me in print. I loved Warm Bodies, but that might have been mostly for the novelty of it.

This one does look like it's worth checking out, though.

I finished reading In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters and I really loved it! Super creepy book with a good mystery amid the horrors of WWI and the Spanish Flu epidemic in 1918. Also filled with photographs of the era. Just a BEAUITFUL creepy book!

Getting ready to start City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6) by Cassandra Clare !!!

Red (littleredreader) Tithe (Modern Faerie Tales, #1) by Holly Black and If I Stay (If I Stay, #1) by Gayle Forman .

I don't normally read more than one at a time, but my mood keep changing.

I didn't really like Tithe the first time I tried reading it, because I didn't know how I felt about it being about faeries. However, since I finished Paranormalcy, it has left me in the mood for "dark faeries," so I'm enjoying it much more now that I'm in the mood for it.

Alternatively, since I finished The Last Song I've also been in the mood for some YA sadness and If I Stay happened to arrive early in the mail.

But I watched World War Z....tried to read the book, first pagr bored me to tears till I didnt know what I was reading anymore.....but the movie was good. Then I read Red Hill, which I thought was awesome....and I was like hmmm maybe I like Zombies lol....but its not the Zombies so much I like, but the stories behind the horror, how people survive and cope....from the cover I thought Rot and Ruin was going to be all Zombies, killing, blood ect...just from the cover, but its nothing like that. what do they say, never judge a book by its cover....ooops, my bad! lol

You should read The Passage (The Passage, #1) by Justin Cronin . It's really good. I'm not into zombie books either but that one was good. It's not what I would call overtly zombie but I still think it falls into that category. Very well written too.

L (intentional-or-not) Karen wrote: "Ooohhhh, The Host and Prodigy are favorites of mine"

I LOVED Legend, its probably my favourite dystopian, so I can't wait to get started on Prodigy!

And I've been wanting to read The Host for ages, I'm just a little bit worried about the number of pages, not that I cant read that much, but my experience with books that are over 600 pages tend to have a lot of unessecary deatails and it makes me lose interest, so im a bit worried about that, but I am also so exicted to start it because the whole concept sounds really interesting, also I'm buddy reading it so hopefully we're all gonna have fun with it :D

message 8192: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments I wasn't as big on the Legend series as most, but it is one of the few dystopian trilogies that got better book by book, IMO. So if you loved book one, you're gonna love the whole thing.
