I liked Divergent after I first read it but when I thought about it afterwards I realized I didn't like it as much as I thought I had. Something about the whole faction thing - it seemed a little ridiculous to me.

The faction thing makes total sense when you get to Allegiant and learn the how and why it happened.

I'm so apprehensive about reading Allegiant because of all the bad reviews.

I am to Ester and I think I will just let the story end with Insurgent.

I don't blame either of you! I didn't hate it, but it was a letdown to what I was expecting!

message 5606: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 823 comments Yep Jenny, that's what I hear. Actually, I know how it ends so if I don't read it then it can't happen at least not for me anyway.

message 5607: by Red (new)

Red (littleredreader) Divergent held my interest longer than the Hunger Games did, but I've yet to really get far enough into either to really get into them. They just don't grab me enough, so I'm easily distracted and I find them too easy to put down.

Steph is: Pageturning578 (stephw1991) I am FINALLY reading Allegiant (Divergent, #3) by Veronica Roth !!!!

That's pretty much how I feel. I am a lover of HEAs.

It really bugs me that I can't say "Enjoy!" when someone says they are reading Allegiant. Such a big bummer to me. But maybe you will like it, Stephanie, try to keep an open mind I guess!

I've been looking forward to this book for a long time and someone on Facebook already ruined the ending for me (ugh people annoy me sometimes). I've been trying to ignore everything related to this book for months. And I will try my best to enjoy it...

I don't understand why everyone is so upset it is a dystopian novel and characters have been dying left and right. I will be happy to discuss why your upset with the book but it will have to wait until after I finish if you don't mind... =)

Of course, no worries, Stephanie! And that wasn't really exactly why it disappointed me, so I won't say anything more until you've read it!

oh ok! Thanks for not saying anything! Now I just want to read it faster lol

Question - what are book triplets?

Oh, sorry, its what Karen, David and I call ourselves. We have very similar tastes in books. I don't remember who came up with it!

Steph is: Pageturning578 (stephw1991) Oh thats awesome! What did David think of Allegiant? Or should I just wait until I finish to ask questions?

I won't give any spoilers, of course, although it sounds like at least one major part was fully spoiled for you :( In regards to that spoiler, I thought it was a brave and good decision, no issue for me except maybe how quickly it all happened. I didn't hate the book, but was definitely let down and didn't think it lived up to the other two. The problem I had was more with the holes in the world building, level of action, and inclusion of FOur as a point of view. I think I would have enjoyed the book a whole lot more if it was only from Tris's point of view, Four was far too whiny, in my opinion. I liked him better from Tris's eyes. And Four's ending was boring and uneventful compared to Tris's, so again, it would have been better told just from Tris's eyes. But those are just my opinions :)

Overall, worth reading though, but I thought series like Legend and Across the Universe and The Knife of Never Letting Go were much stronger through the third book.

Interesting, thanks for your input David! I'm not even 100 pages in yet but I am definitely going in with more of an open mind than I was before. We are getting a snow storm tonight so I will most likely finish within the next day or so. I look forward to discussing with everyone =)

I have heard nothing but great things about Fangirl. I'm just starting the Audio book, so will comment a little more later. But Rainbow Rowell's Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell Eleanor & Park was so amazing in Audio book that I had to purchase the book. Great new author (to me).

I'm in the middle of several books at the moment. Still trying to get through White Space (Dark Passages, #1) by Ilsa J. Bick . Also still reading The Lost Boys by Lilian Carmine

Started Struck (Struck, #1) by Jennifer Bosworth last night and it was really good so far! Very new and clever concept and very addicting! And then I pulled my random read for the month Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout and read the first chapter. It looks promising! Very interesting characters!
