Hello,

This is a young adult book probably written between 1975 and 1985. It's about two friends. One moves to NYC (or a similar huge city) while the other stays in the suburbs with her family and a dog named Nora (I believe).

The friend who stays in the suburbs has a hard time adjusting to the changes in her friend's personality once she moves to the city. She visits the friend in the city and I can't remember much after that. This book was probably intended for pre-teens or early teens.

The one thing I remember clearly about the book is that the dog, Nora, dies underneath the porch towards the end of the book. There is also a poem near the end of the book about memories.

I am pretty sure this is The Trouble with Thirteen by Betty Miles. I read this book so many times back in the day! I also remember the scene where the 2 girls bought fancy dresses and wore them all day.
