SOLVED. YA thriller about a girl and boy with ESP being chased [s]

I read this book about 15 years ago and I can hardly remember much about it, but I did a school project on it and I still have pieces from the diorama. I'm dying to remember this! It was about a preteen girl who discovers she has an ESP connection to a young boy at school, and they are being chased by a group of government agents or something like that. There is a scene set on a subway car and a scene at a carnival where the kids are being chased and get trapped up in a Ferris wheel. That is almost all I can remember!

Hi Hollis. This was actually discussed in another thread a while ago. I remembered the part about the Ferris wheel. That book turned out to be Into the Dream by William Sleator. I think it's likely that it's your book, too.
