ummmmm, Birthmarked by Caragh O'brian? I've got it in my bookcase and it looks good. I think it's scifi/dystopian/apocalyptic :)
Yes, i adore the idea of starting off with a classic- i would recommend Narnia, but i'm reading them now. I'd love to read 'Great Expectations' but i don't know if it would suit anyone.
I've read Fallen and didn't enjoy it much. But it's a group vote and maybe I'll like it if I read it again :)

I agree with Great Expectations:)
great reccomendations, thanks- but i'll only put a couple in because we don't want too much of the same genre

yeah, we've all got those books that are on our lists for like months, and we keep saying 'i'm gonna read it', but it never happens...(:
why did you put it down??? you should finish it! doesn't it bother you when you have unfinished books/series? :D

I agree; there are also many series in the YA genre, so I'd love to start with either YA or a classic.
Thanks everyone for voting on the 'genre' poll- it helps to collate the material. So far, YA is the most popular genre, followed by fantasy. If you haven't already voted, just go here:

Whast we're hoping to start soon are some group reads. I've put up a poll for you to vote on favourite genres (if you haven't done so, it would be great to do that now) so we can decide on some starters. Here you guys can make some suggestions for a range of genres. the most popular so far is young adult, so suggest any book that you would like to read or have read in the past that you want to read again.
Also, if anyone knows some friends who love writing or have a talent in it, please invite them along- they may find the very group they were looking for.
And so, to begin, i nominate:
Divergent, by veronica roth...
