When should we start and who's participating?
I am going to participate and hopefully I can keep up this time!
I won't be able to get the book until Tuesday, unless my library has the ebook copy. I will have to check.
I am definitely on board! I already have a copy of the book, so whenever if convenient for everyone else is fine with me.Oh and...synopsis, OMG!!! I was hoping we'd see her!! Fangirl moment....over.

I am reading Glow, the 27th sounds good to me, however I can't promise I will be able to keep up. I will be in Los Angeles for vacation starting that day. Maybe airport reading?

About to start questions
Questions for Chapters 1 - 61) So in Archangel's Kiss we learned what happened in Elena's repeated nightmares. Maybe in this book we learn what happened between Elena and her father???
2) It sounded like someone hung themselves. I thought Elena's mom died from the wounds inflicted upon her. Could it be she hung herself or did something else happen?
3) Why do you think the school Elena's sister's went to was targeted? Do you think this is another act aimed at hurting Elena or just coincidence?
4) What happened to Raphael? It almost sounded like a reaction to a drug.
5) The vamp told Raphael someone told him Raphael was dead. Do you think the vamp believed them because Raphael wasn't in New York but with Elena in the Refuge?
6) What do you think Elena's father will think of her new wings and her new found immortality?
7) What did you think of Raphael moving all Elena's things to his place? Should she have had her own woman cave? Is there a term for a female version of a man cave?

I hope so. I want to know the full details of how he went from supportive father to shunning his own child. I suspect that he discovered that Slater targeted them because of her, but then that begs the question....how did he find out?

This confused me a bit in this last book. By piecing everything together I gather that mom was badly injured and the 2 girls died, but mom later killed herself. I think that's it anyway, that's what I got from the last book at least.
3) Why do you think the school Elena's sister's went to was targeted? Do you think this is another act aimed at hurting Elena or just coincidence?
It sounds like they were after her sister specifically but messed up. That's a scary thought since there are a lot of people who would want to hurt Elena and weaken her to make her an easier target. But why go after her estranged family rather than someone closer to her is what I can't figure out.
4) What happened to Raphael? It almost sounded like a reaction to a drug.
I thought that too. It was very strange but definitely different than when he went Quiet. Whatever can effect an archangel that way is something very scary.
5) The vamp told Raphael someone told him Raphael was dead. Do you think the vamp believed them because Raphael wasn't in New York but with Elena in the Refuge?
I had thought that too. Maybe the vamp was already desperate to be out of his service to Raphael, so latched onto it and thought...well it must be true, he's not here. But mostly I would think it was an excuse to get him to do something he already wanted to do.
6) What do you think Elena's father will think of her new wings and her new found immortality?
I agree with Raphael on this, he'll use it to try and get in good with the angels.
7) What did you think of Raphael moving all Elena's things to his place? Should she have had her own woman cave? Is there a term for a female version of a man cave?
I thought it was sweet. He's making his home, their home. I think he knows that she couldn't do think of it as her home without her things there. It was a sweet gesture. I think she'll find her woman cave wherever she is living...just not one to sleep in from the sounds of it.

Questions for Chapters 6 - 128) Well it looks like Elena's little sister Evelyn was the target. Do you suppose that is what the 'family' meeting is about?
9) What do you think of Raphael's relationship with Elena? To me he seems kind of cold and then he does something so thoughtful, like the green house, that makes me smile.
10) What did you think of Raphael's plan to bury the bad vamp at their house? Do you think there are others buried there and he lied? I do. Gah!
11) Do you think the rest of Raphael's seven will warm up to Elena? She now seems to have won two over--Illium and Aodhan.
12) A lot of talk of an angel rising. I wonder why everyone thinks Raphael's mom would be vindictive toward him?
13) The new weapon Sarah's husband, Deacon, made for Elena looks to be the one that is on the cover.
14) Looks like we'll get to meet Hummingbird, Illium's mom.
15) I loved the interaction with Zoe. I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't mind a prequel that went back and had when Elena got kicked out and Sara became friends with Elena. Also, would love to see how Deacon and Sara got together.
16) Neha--she's back and looking for vengeance. Figures. Anyone surprised?

It has to be something to do with what happened at the school, but I am not sure what.

I think he is still going through some growing pains. He clearly wants her to be happy but isn't used to having a woman who doesn't allow him to do or say anything he pleases. He's trying to adjust his desires to protect her from herself with keeping her happy and letting her be herself.
10) What did you think of Raphael's plan to bury the bad vamp at their house? Do you think there are others buried there and he lied? I do. Gah!
I think Elena is being very unfair about this. Angels are the ones who keep the vampires in line. She knows exactly what happens when they are not in line. I don't think she should be questioning what has clearly worked for him for centuries. With that said, I wouldn't want that on my property either, a fair compromise would have been for the punishment to take place off the property, someplace she doesn't live.
11) Do you think the rest of Raphael's seven will warm up to Elena? She now seems to have won two over--Illium and Aodhan.
I think the other two still see her as a potential weakness. I am beginning to wonder if they have seen something like this happen with him before and it scares them that it might happen again.
12) A lot of talk of an angel rising. I wonder why everyone thinks Raphael's mom would be vindictive toward him?
Well, it sounds like she either tried to kill him or simply left him to die...either one is not good. She did kill his father. I think I'd be a little concerned too.
13) The new weapon Sarah's husband, Deacon, made for Elena looks to be the one that is on the cover.
I noticed that too! I heard about the weapon and thought immediately to the cover, because I remember Elena saying she wasn't the biggest fan of crossbows or something like that.
14) Looks like we'll get to meet Hummingbird, Illium's mom.
That could be interesting, he didn't sound very happy about the possibility.
15) I loved the interaction with Zoe. I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't mind a prequel that went back and had when Elena got kicked out and Sara became friends with Elena. Also, would love to see how Deacon and Sara got together.
I'd like that too. A novella or something that takes place before it would be awesome.

The only thing keeping me on the fence about this one is how would his mother know about Elena? Wouldn't Raphael have shields in place to keep her out of his mind?
20) I'm curious why and how Calaine could control newly made vampires she's never met and put them in a blood lust.
21) We learned more about Venom's making and how his eyes changed. Elena mentioned it hadn't stopped with the eyes. What do you think she meant?
22) I want the scoop on Ransom and his librarian. It's got to be a fun story.

I admit that I did not see it coming, mostly because I assumed it came from Ellie's mother's side. I had no idea it could be Jeffrey, wow.

It is really interesting. And if this is what she can do when she's awake, yikes when she wakes up. I'd think twice about that rule of killing a Sleeping ancient.

The only thing keeping me on the fence about this one is how would his mother know about Elena? Wouldn't Raphael have shields in place to keep her out of his mind?
Maybe she has been keeping tabs on her son from a distance. I suspect Neha has something to do with this. Maybe feeding Caliene information as she wakes.

I would guess that it's just a mark of how powerful she is. Lijuan said she may believe this is still a dream, but could be having real consequences on the world.

My first instinct was that she meant the poison thing, Raphael said he is poisonous. Also his personality and demeanor is similar to a snake.

Doesn't seem to be the type someone like him would usually get. I bet there are a lot of laughs in that story, I'm interested in her.

Questions for Chapters 19 - 2423) Something seems to be off with Bluebell's mom hummingbird. Raphael describes her as being like a crumpled flower. What did you think of the way she treated Bluebell and Raphael? Did I miss what happened to her. I think Raphael said she' have to ask Bluebell for answers.
23) What are your thoughts about the way Lijuan thinks of Raphael? He keeps reminding her he's not her pet. Additionally, she made the statement that if she'd been younger when they'd met she'd have made a pass or some such thing at him.
24) Could Lijuan be behind the strange occurrences? At first I suspected Neha, but Lijuan wants Raphael to kill his mom.
25) Now we have vamps mutilating themselves and we find it is a power only those of the Cadre and those Sleeping can do. This is making more suspicious of everyone else.
26) Hummingbird taught Aodahn to draw. Is she the one behind his tattoo? Didn't they say to be marked on the skin or some such was considered an honor?
27) Definite suicide by Elena's mom. No more doubts about it. Wonder what all is in that storage locker?
28) We got to see Beth for the first time that I can remember. What did you think of her. Is there any way Elena can explain to her why she can't become a Vamp that wouldn't reveal the angel's secret?
29) If Nalini wanted to she could write a YA book about Eve. That could be interesting.

I don't think they said what happened to her, but I suspect based on their reactions its nothing good. Maybe this is madness of a different sort than we've seen with angels before.

That was kinda creepy. I think she views the entire world as her chessboard and just wants to push around the pieces at her heart's content. And Raphael is reminding her that he isn't a part of her games. She frightens me.
24) Could Lijuan be behind the strange occurrences? At first I suspected Neha, but Lijuan wants Raphael to kill his mom.
I think Lijuan is just as scared of Raphael's mom coming back as he is. Caliene is older than her by god knows how long, and Lijuan is scary enough...we don't need someone bigger and badder disrupting the block. I suspect Lijuan will make an attempt to kill her before Raphael can find her.

But it also seems to be something that Caliene used to do, and no one else. I suppose other's could know about that and simulate it, but I still think Mommy Dearest is coming home to find her boy. And yes, I just got a chill up my spine typing that.

I think that is sweet. They honor her by letting her paint them. I wonder if whatever happened to her is the same horrific thing that has scarred Aodahn.

I wonder if perhaps there is a letter explaining it. I think Elena needs to go there. She needs to let herself feel angry at her mother, maybe then the nightmares will go away.

It would have to be done very sneakily, but I think she could. I think her real sorrow is not that she can't become immortal, but because her husband chose immortality without her above mortality with her. That's gotta hurt.
29) If Nalini wanted to she could write a YA book about Eve. That could be interesting.
I would love that! I have been wondering since they mentioned the Guild Academy what goes on there, I would love a story about it.

33) So, Caliane did try to kill Raphael..but only after he tried to kill her. But she claims the voices wanted her to kill him and she said no. What does she think she will gain by killing Elena? Can their connection save Raphael from his mother?

They both have valid points, at this point in time I'd side with Raphael. I think once Elena gets stronger then he should back off.

It sounded like the Angels Dance is a mating dance. He proposed it, she called him on it.

I think she has typical Angel Arrogance and most see themselves as better than everyone else. It seems surprising that Raphael doesn't

No I think someone else is causing the majority of the problems.

No I think he hurt her deeply and she is confused as to why he abandoned her. Where there relationship went wrong. I think if anything it's the other way around. Her father see only the bad in Elena because he's reflecting.

My guess was Neha as well, I would have thought Lijuan didn't want to lose her status as top of the angel pile. I didn't see that coming at all.

I was scared for him for a few minutes there too. Even though rationally I knew he wouldn't die, he's obviously in the next book. But it made me worry.

I'm apprehensive. She seems rational, but she seemed pretty rational in Raphael's memories as she tried to kill him too.

I admit that I got a bit confuzzled at the end for a bit, it could have been because I was reading it while tired and sick but I dunno. I enjoyed the ending though.

I'm not sure. I think he probably found out that Slater came for the family because of Elena, then when his beloved wife killed herself over the loss he blamed Elena for that too and couldn't forgive her. That's what I suspect happened.

That was a shot right out of left field for sure. I didn't see that coming and I have no idea what it means. Hopefully it'll be something good, this seems a little reminiscent of Anita Blake and "oh I'm not having random sex, its an ardeur!" thing, I hope I'm wrong cause that wasn't good lol.

So sweet. I like these two more and more all the time.
37) Overall thoughts of the book?
Overall I didn't find it as totally engrossing as the other two. I think because I wanted so badly to see Caliane and what aspect she would bring to the book, yet she was in it very little and we had so many other things to worry about. It dampened my enthusiasm for the book a little. But I still loved it and will probably end up rating it a 3 or 4, leaning toward 4 at the moment but sometimes that changes as I write my review.
I am gonna start this soon so I can catch back up! I didn't get more than 10 pages read while I was on my trip. :( I am now behind on everything.
I may do it with you, Laura! I need to listen to #2 first...
I can wait until you finish #2 if you want. I have so much reading to catch up on and I definitely need to finish Fire before our Buddy Read of Bitterblue. I am only 1/3 of the way through it.
