The Host Movie coming out!? Thoughts...

I really cant wait for the movie to come out and see how they were able to pull off the inner conversations. And to see who they cast as Jared and Ian. I know who I pictured while I was reading but wanted to know some others thoughts.

i know i cant wait either. who did you pictuer at Ian and Jared?? bc i honstaly couldnt come up with anyone alive that could do it. but i pictered Ian as......i guess a little like Shane from the Morangvile Vampiers. but a little biger.

Soooooo excited for this, but so nervous all at the same time when I read such a great book that I love RE reading over & over, I'm afraid they will butcher the characters of my imagination! Like Twilight....never imagined a lip licking, hair rubbing, stuttering person to play Bella, now when I think of her when I read it I see Kristen Stewart! My heart breaks a little when it doesn't meet my expectations.....even though I'm still dying to see the last of the Twilight Saga :0( sad to see it end dispite Kristen Stewart....she has gotten better I must say from the first. Crap I'm rambling lol the end

I really want to see it as a movie, but I don't think it will be as good as reading the book. Because a lot of the story is how Melanie is inside Wanda's head is going to be hard to show.

I liked Caitlin Stasey for Mel, Ian Somerhalder for Ian, and Jensen Ackles for Jared, but I really like the cast. I'm sooo excited for the movie. I just hope the scenes are not awkward and rushed like in Twilight =/

okay, so maybe i just changed my mind about being so exied for it to come out in March. bc i just looked at the people playing the charters, and i ofshioly hate almost all of them. expecely the one playing Melaine. and Ian. they DO NOT look right for it at ALL

So looking over the cast and I cant say I pictured any of those people... Especially Melanie, I pictured her with a tougher exterier shes suposed to be super fast, strong and witty the girl they chose looks to inocent and wimpy, unless she buffs up a little for the role I cant picture her at all.
Same with all the men rolls they are suposed be strong this entire cast looks a little on the scrony side.. :(
That being said Im still going to go into the theater with an open mind and hope they do a great job bc I loved the book and thought that it would make a great movie!

I'm apprehensive about the movie, but excited too.
But then, I suppose that's how I always feel about a movie adaption of a beloved book.

I am worried about the cast, though.
I only really know one of them, so I can't really judge, but...
I'm especially concerned about the girl who'll play Melanie. Her facial structure just isn't right for me -she's too soft. However, I know the actress, and I respect her work, so who knows. Maybe she can pull it off.
I'll reserve judgement on the others because I really don't know them.
Except for this... Who thought that making Ian blonde was a good idea!? This is what I'm most upset about. How.. why... I just. I had this perfect image in my head... And he just isn't it. (Yes, I love Ian. Can you tell? ;) So sue me.)

So. I have hope. This could be good. I'm interested to see what they'll do, especially with the scenery.

Yeah. Ian and Kyle... they better be amazing actors to compensate, right?
As for Jared.. I agree. He's ok, I guess. The only one I have much faith in is Melanie/Wanda, actually. I think she could pull it off. Even if her face isn't exactly what I'd hoped...

Yeah, they're definitely making it. It's set for release in March next year :)

Umm... I think Jeb is a good choice. Especially since I heard that they're going to make him up with the full beard and everything. So that sounds good.
As for Jamie.. I'm not sure. I don't know if the picture I saw is just really old or something.. But. He looks really young. Like, isn't Jamie suppose to be about 14? Chandler (I think that's what he's called?) looked more like 9. Maybe 10. *shrug* Who knows. Maybe he's grown ;)

With the whole cast, though.. Makeup, costumes and good acting can go a long way, so we'll see.

i thought the same thing about jamie seeing as he is asposted to be like 14 or 15. hopful he's grown some. the guy that's playing Jeb, might work with the whole beard thing. although i dont know about you but i pichered him with a litte more hair than the guy playing him.

When will it be out? It's been so long since I've read the book, I have forgotten a lot of it. Right now, I'm more concerned with Hurricane Isaac. We're in its path in the Florida Panhandle.

I think there was a different director for each of the twilight movies, so I'm not sure which one you mean...
As far as I know they're not using any of them for this one, though.

EDIT: Yeah, I confirmed all of that. ^ The Host is being directed by Andrew Niccol, who (thankfully) didn't direct any of the Twilight saga. Thank you, Google! ;)

I am excited to see this movie!!! The book takes place around where I live and I am curious to see if they actually filmed it there or not. One can only hope that the movie is okay. Books are always better than the movies.

I know this is a little off topic, and I hope you don't mind me asking, but.. How did Stephenie do with the area's descriptions? I've never been anywhere in the U.S. and I'm always curious to hear from, well, a local. Especially one so specific! ;)

One question... WHO IS PLAYING PET?! F.Y.I Pet is Wanda's body at the end that they pick out for her... I really would like to know this because I feel it is crucial... okay, maybe not... I just really want to know what Wanda is going to look like in "her own body" instead of Melanie's. P.S... I am SOOO excited for this movie and I honestly don't think anything could ruin it! It is an AMAZING BOOK!! I was kind of forced to read this book by my sister but now that I finally have finished it I CANNOT WAIT until the movie comes out. I am amazed at how well the book got... I was at page 200 and something when the book started to pull me in even more than it had at the beginning! I was started to get bored and worried that it wouldn't be as good as Twilight... after all it was Stephenie Meyer's first book to write... I think. Now that I've finished it I am almost 100% positive that I like it better than the Twilight series, and that's saying something 'cuz I am a HUGE Twilight fan... But... WHO PLAYS PET/WANDA'S BODY IN THE END OF THE BOOK???????
