2012 August Pick It For Me! Challenge
Isabella - I rarely cry in books and I was a blubbering mess...I was reading it at work on a night shift, and yeah...my co-workers thought i was nuts because I was crying
EmilyIt took me a while to look to all the books you have in your list. I think I'm going to have to go through and add a few more books =) Anywho, I hope that you find at least one book that you'll like this month.
1. Master of the Mountain & Giving Chase (I really really like the Chase Brothers series, and any books by Lauren Dane!)
2. Breaking Free & Dreams of a Dark Warrior ( I am a huge fan of Kresley Cole)
3. The Thirteenth Tale ( I read this book a few years ago, and it was really good. You get to the end and there's a great twist) & The Girl Who Chased the Moon (I LOVE any books by Sarah Addison Allen. She writes stories with a little magic, but not too much. Everytime I finish one of her books I've felt happy)
4. Riding the Storm (I recmmend this whole series. The first two don't have animals in them, but the others do. It's a paranormal series, but their powers are different than most others in paranormal books.) & Pleasure Unbound (Another good series. I really enjoy anything written by Larissa Ione/Sydney Croft)
5. The Pact (I cried for 2 weeks after I finished this book. It's a great book, just very emotional)
6. A Perfect Storm (This is the 4th of a series you had saved. The first book in the series is under #7) & The Red Scarf (This is a really good book that takes place in Russia)
7. When You Dare (This is the first in a series) & The Perfect Play ( I really like this series, plus the covers host very gorgeous looking men!)
8. Trial by Fire & Shadow's Claim
9. The Girl from Junchow & Snow Flower and the Secret Fan

I loved all the picks! Alas! I don't have the time to read them all :( in fact you did such a good job I wish I could reserve you to do my future picks! hehehe! I guess I am lucky my picks didn't turn up on time :P
I'll be reading
and
as for the Buddy Reads I want to read both
and
so let me know which one (or both) you want to read with me :)Thanks again for the great picks!
@lindy - you can re-read if you want and you only have to read one book for the monthbut your picker isn't going to go to your librarie's page and make sure that books they recommend are available to you - it isn't possible for all of us to do that for each individual person
Ty wrote: "Hi Cacophony - your TBR was fun to run around! Here are your picks. Hope you like them! Most are from your TBR.

Hi Ty
Thanks for the recs. I am sorry that it has taken me so long to respond, I was travelling and out of touch with the internet. I am not sure where to start but I might read Heartless, or Sparks Fly, or First Grave on the Right. I want to read everything.
Thanks again!

Lethal Lovely, I just finished
and LOVED it! I honestly think this is my favorite so far. Cadeon was just the right mix of cocky and protective and sneaky :) Thanks for pushing me to read this!
Hey, Tania! Finished
& enjoyed it very much. I wasn't hooked on this series after "Stormwalker" but I'm definitely hooked on it now. Thank you very much for the recommendations!@ Susan: I am SO happy you liked DDAD! ITA about Cadeon! I loved that he didn't take himself as serious as a lot of the dominant heroes in the IAD series. Yay!
Dee wrote: "ok LaylaHere you go - hopefully these work for you - I tried to get a good range of from your TBR and new to you ;)

Hi, Dee! I'm sorry for my late reply.
Wow, those are some great picks, thank you very much. I didn't think that I will find some interesting books but to my surprise, I have already four perspectives. I am sure that I will read No Mercy (I am a sucker for army women!) and Insurgent (I can't believe I forgot about this series). I also put down Animal Magnetism and The Surgeon, I'll see how it goes. I'm so glad that I finally have some books that I haven't heard about :)
@Vi, thank again! I had some nice picks :)

Hi Layla - i'm glad you like the picks - Mercy is one of my favorite kick-ass females and the author, Lori armstrong, also writes erotic romances under the same Lorelei James
Dee wrote: "Layla wrote: "Dee wrote: "Mercy is one of my favorite kick-ass females and the author, Lori armstrong, also writes erotic romances under the same Lorelei James "Wow Dee, I didn't realize that - I love Lorelei James, so while it was on my radar already, this bumps No Mercy way up on the list!
yep - she has the Mercy series and the Julie Collins series - that starts with Blood Ties: Book One in the PI Julie Collins series
Finished The Next Best Thing recommended by Amanda. I liked it 3 1/2 stars. Could have been a little shorter but it did make me laugh out loud. Would have been better if cousin was a therapist and not an obstetrician. Whole family could use a little psychiatric support!
Finished my second rec from Carla Taking a Shot - 3rd in her sports series. A quick light read and I enjoyed the main characters of Jenna and Ty in this book much better than the second book (Liz and Gavin)......and there will be a fourth in the series about a Riley cousin!!
I just finished my first challenge book this month, Captain Jack's Woman and liked it. Strong, but imperfect, characters and an interesting negotiation of a relationship. Thanks Macwolf01 [Elise] for the recommendation.
Susan, just finished Wild Card and OMFG. That was one heckuva emotional roller coaster. I loved it! Thanks for the pick! Do you want to buddy read Bared to You the beginning of next week? Maybe the 13th or 14th? Megan L, would you be able to buddy read The Secret and Mystery Man the last two weeks of the month?
Breann I'm so glad you liked Wild Card. It's one of my favorites by her and I've read it a few times. A buddy for Bared to You would be great! Do you want to set up a thread or do it through PMs? I have to work this morning for a friend, but I'll be home later to see what you want to do :)
Melissa, I finished my first pick - Into the Dreaming. I really liked it, thank you so much for a reason to finally read it! I hope to get to a couple of other picks this month too!
Breann wrote: "Susan, I started a thread for our buddy read. Can you start next week?"I sure can! Thanks for setting that up, my day has been CRAZY!
I finished The Mane Eventby Shelly Laurenston for a buddy read with Megan L & Ty. I already requested the next couple of books, damn hot stuff!
I finished another of my recommendations today, Iron Kissed, and really liked it. I don't know why it took me so long to get back to this series, because I'd enjoyed the first two books, but thanks, Amy J. for nudging it up to the top of the TBR!
Hey Gigi!
I read About That Night by Julie James and it was good. So much fun and that ending was adorable! I'm going to read Stolen Fury next. =)

This is my 2nd PIFM this month that I finished. Fun read. Loved her dragon series so wasn't surprised by the quirkiness of this. Thanks for the pick, Dawn!

WOw..! you almost done :)
congrates :)
i finished up Monique and the Mango Rains: Two Years with a Midwife in Mali which Lekshemy picked for me - and enjoyed it - I've found over the last year that most peace corps memoirs are interesting reads and this one no different
RachelI finished my first pick
last night. I didn't love this as much as the Sazi series, but it's an interesting world the authors have created. And the last few pages practically guarantees I'll read the next book at some point. I started
this morning.Did you want to buddy read
? I can start anytime.
I finished my buddy read with Diane (~Firefly~); Redshirts by John Scalzi. I loved it and give it four stars. I am going to read Spider's Bite by Jennifer Estep next for this challenge.
Kami wrote: "I finished my buddy read with Diane (~Firefly~); Redshirts by John Scalzi. I loved it and give it four stars. I am going to read Spider's Bite by Jennifer Estep next for this challenge."Me too! It was a good, fun read. Now I'm starting Quicksilver from my recommendations.
Ruth Ann wrote: "Hi Rena-When would you like to start our buddy read? Can you start this weekend?"
Yep! This weekend should work just fine. =)
Yep! This weekend should work just fine. =)
Amy and I did a buddy read of Claimed. I gave it a 3--I liked the part of the story that wasn't an excuse for sex scenes strung together. Thought the conflict and plot worked well beyond that.
Finished Sophie & Carter. The ending totally left me wanting more. I hope there is a follow up to check up on those two. I also finished a buddy read with Rishika. We read Untamed, and we are going to start our second buddy read soon. :)

okie :) I cheer you go2x
finished
. a little HR is a pleasant departure from my usual appetite of PNR/UF. Good read ~ great to see the Westcliffs again! Thanks, Dawn :)
Hey Skandia,I just finished
*fans self* it's a little hot in here. Great book. If I didn't have to do that pesky thing called sleep I would have read it all last night.
I finished
. It was a little bit of a slow starter for me, but it picked up. I really liked how Vaughn approached the superhero legend from the view of a completely normal daughter.
I finished Spider's Bite by Jennifer Estep. I liked it a lot and gave it four stars. I am going to read Storm of Visions by Christina Dodd next.
