Angela Noviana | 3 comments Could you please combine :
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8197699-running-wild
and
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13532693-running-wild

There's one thing I want to ask. The author's name Linda Winstead Jones and Linda Jones are the same. But in this book, she uses Linda Jones. Should I delete Linda Winstead Jones name from the information detail?

Thank you.

Krystal109 | 1086 comments Also, Linda^Jones is a different author. So actually let's make sure these don't go to someone else's profile.

message 3: by Krystal109 (last edited Jul 20, 2012 04:21AM) (new)

Krystal109 | 1086 comments Linda Winstead Jones writes under:

* Linda Jones
* Linda Fallon
* Linda Winstead Jones
* Linda Devline

It seems that Linda Winstead Jones and Linda Fallon are the only separate profiles

Krystal109 | 1086 comments All fixed. Also I will have rivka merge Linda Devline with Linda Winstead Jones.

Angela Noviana | 3 comments Yeayy.. Thanks a lot, Krystal =)

Krystal109 | 1086 comments Thanks for bringing it to my attention so we could make sure all her work is in the right place and not on someone elses profile.

Now at least I understand why you posted in the thread, but we DON'T merge different pen-names into a single profile.

message 8: by Krystal109 (new)

Krystal109 | 1086 comments Okay. I thought I saw you guys do it before with another author, but it was probably my mistake.

Can you at least add a link on her main profile.

message 9: by Krystal109 (last edited Jul 20, 2012 07:59AM) (new)

Krystal109 | 1086 comments Okay rivka. Another lesson. In the past you combined Denise Hampton and Denise Domning. I am wondering what the difference is with that and this.

Apparently, I need to look up the dictionary words alias, pseudonym, and pen name.

Either the request came from the author or I made a mistake.

And I don't add content to GR Author profiles without their request.

message 11: by Krystal109 (new)

Krystal109 | 1086 comments Oh. I guess I will contact them about it.

In case you are wondering it was 813 post on the merge thread.

Which I did not combine, because it was a pseudonym. This is the same situation.

message 13: by Krystal109 (new)

Krystal109 | 1086 comments AHAHAHAHA... I should have probably clicked to see if they were combined. Okay good, cause when I said we don't combine alias' someone else made it sound like you guys did.

It's all very confusing, but at least I got the whole truth.

message 14: by Norman (new)

Norman | 13 comments Please link Tombo and Lorraine E. Harr as the former is a pseudonym of the latter. This link http://www.ahapoetry.com/ahalynx/212L... should resolve any doubt.

PS Is this the correct approach when unlinked pseudonyms are found?

message 16: by Aloha (new)

Aloha | 10 comments I became a Librarian yesterday, so I'm only looking at the posts in here to see how it's done. How do you combine authors, or is that only for a super librarian?

message 17: by Norman (new)

Norman | 13 comments Oh, as it turns out, it's easy (if you're a librarian and know a little html). All you need to do is edit the author data and add a html link to the other author profile. Click "edit data" at Tombo and you'll see. Glad to see I can do this myself from now on, without having to bother the supers.

Thanks, Vicki_girl!

The first step is to read the Librarian Manual all the way through before making ANY changes to the catalog.

Sorry, my response above was about linking pseudonyms, not combining authors, which, I believe, remains entirely in the realm of superlibrarians.

Actually, any librarian can merge authors -- or add links to their profiles. (Unless they are a GR Author Program member, and then it takes a GR staff member.) However, only experienced librarians who have read the manual carefully SHOULD do so, as author merges cannot be undone.

Joyce | 48 comments This book:
Spaar het meisje

Is already added as an edition from:
Live to Tell

So either it can go or can be combined
