Abby (thegreatabbycadabra) | 2 comments Uh-oh. I have been relatively absent from Goodreads since late last year. It's been a rough time for me personally, and even though I love books and this site, I've been neglecting it. I've had some free time the last few weeks, however, and I decided to come on here and fix up my shelves. I thought it was a little odd that so many of my books were missing covers, so I began to add them as necessary. Unfortunately, I completely missed the memo about the whole Amazon thing. As I've done for the last four years, I've been adding covers from Amazon and Library Thing. It never even occurred to me that that wouldn't be okay. Now that I've found out the contrary, I'm a bit horrified. Goodness knows I don't want to mess up any progress that has been made in the last few months. Naturally, I've stopped uploading from those sites, but what should I do about what I've already done? I'm not even totally sure which books I've uploaded covers to; there have been so many over these last few weeks. Should I delete what I can? Should I just not worry about it at this point? Just let me know what to do, and I'll work on it. Sorry about this.

Krystal109 | 1086 comments Instead of deleting, and re-uploading from a new source, I would say find the images for the books you have already uploaded on a valid site and make sure they are exactly the same (in appearance).

Make a list of the valid links here with the ISBN's. For proof that the images are legit and identical.

If the supers and employees tell us they need to be replaced, even though they are the same image, then normal librarians can help you.

That is not sufficient. Images contain information invisible to the eye that can provide source information.

Abby, please do your best to replace any images you know are from problematic sources.

And a reminder to ALL active librarians, especially if you have not been active in the group for a while: please review the manual every so often. We do make policy changes sometimes.

Abby, if you go to your librarian edits page, you'll be able to comb through and see exactly which books you've uploaded covers to recently. (If you don't know, you can quickly get to your librarian edits page by going to your profile and clicking "Goodreads librarian".)

Krystal109 | 1086 comments Hey rivka.

Yea i figured. That was why I was telling her to at least start a list of links so that when you said that we could help her delete and replace them.

Abby (thegreatabbycadabra) | 2 comments Oh, thanks, Amara. I never even noticed I could do that. :-)

I will get to working on a list. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if I end up having to scan quite a few of these myself since many of them are rather old and unusual. What are some good and valid sites I can check for covers?

Publisher and library sites fine but mark sure the image is not hyperlinked to a book seller
