I would also recommend Incarceron by Catherine Fisher
It wasn't quite the same type of dystopian future but had similar the political machinations of the feeling of others controlling your world.

I had started Incarceron a while ago but I wasn't really in the mood for something dark at that time so I didn't get too far into it. I'll have to give it another try.

I read just the first Hunger Games book, it was an enjoyable quick and fun read, but all the hype around it was a bit exaggerated to my taste. Divergent looks more promising.

I think anytime a book is surrounded by a lot of hype you are bound to be disappointed. I read the Hunger Games several years ago and it completely opened my eyes to dystopic fiction, which I had been avoiding since being forced to read 1984 & Brave New World in school.

I loved pure by Julianna baggot. The only problem is that she has only written book one so at the end you are left waiting for more.
Highly recommended.

I've seen this book around but didn't really pay much attention to it. Seeing as how you enjoyed it so much I think I'll look into it a bit more.
