One author different spellings

Hey all

I noticed that we have two pages for the same author and when I attempted to merge them I got a notice that said the author edits their own page. Please note HP MALLORY vs. the proper author which is H.P. Mallory.

The other issue I have been having is with Sara King when you use the add author title you get this one Sara King but it should be from this link http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...
I cannot figure out how to correct this one.

Any help would be appreciated for both.

Only GR Employees can edit a profile of a Goodreads Author. In the future, you can post in the Goodreads Author Profiles Needing Merging thread. I posted this one.

There's nothing we as librarians can do about the search. The Sara King you linked is Sara^^King (where a ^ is a blank space) for disambiguation purposes. If you search for Sara^^King it works, but I'm not sure that's working as intended. Alternatively, you can search for one of her books and then switch to the author tab and she'll come up.

Was this ever fixed? It looks like this author still has two profiles on Goodreads, with different books listed. Can someone look into this? Its been four years since this was last talked about. Thanks!

my guess is this was fixed at the time. but in the three+ years since this thread was started, i'm guessing another erroneous profile was created. The original bad profile in message 1 is long gone. I found H P Mallory and posted it to the GR employee thread to fix. Was there another bad profile you were referring to?

Sara King had two author profiles. Looks like she uses one and the other is a a dud but has the newer books on it, where the one she participates in doesn't have the new books listed.

But now I can't find the dud, so maybe you've already fixed it! Thanks :) Is there a way to keep that from happening going forward? Or is that going to happen every time she publishes a new book...?

I did try to fix the dud, once I realized you were probably talking about Sara King. And sadly no, there's no way to prevent this from happening again. But feel free to post a request in this group whenever you see it.
