Alma Katsu | 26 comments Hi Amanda,
The second book in The Taker Trilogy just came out--The Reckoning. The novels have been compared a lot to early Anne Rice, like Interview With The Vampire and the Mayfair Witches, for their mix of the supernatural with historical fiction and a dark love story. It’s the story of a young woman who falls in love with a man she can’t have. In trying to win him, she is drawn into a dark magical world where eternal love is possible—though, she learns, at a terrible price.

The last book in the trilogy is The Descent, and it's slated for publication in May 2013.

Hi Amanda,

I'm working on a contemporary novel that takes place in Maine, New York and Puerto Rico. The main protagonist is a descendant of the main characters of CONQUISTADORA. It's slated for publication in Fall 2014.

Robin | 13 comments Anne, do you have another Richard III novel in the works? I have researched Richard III on and off since before I was in high school but had been "off" for quite a while (too busy raising my seven children, I guess). It was your A ROSE FOR THE CROWN that put me back "on" again. I'm through with the others you have written. I need more!

Robin | 13 comments Never mind, Anne. I found the answer to this on another discussion here. I am so relieved! But this does bring up another question. Jean Plaidy wrote about Jane Shore in THE GOLDSMITH'S WIFE years ago. After reading it, I found that there were quite a number of historical inaccuracies. Do you ever write to "set the record straight"? It seems in the last decade or more so much more information has surfaced about the period of the Wars of the Roses that current authors of this time period have a bit of rewriting to do over past authors.

Hi Amanda,

I'm left the Wars of the Roses and just finsihed my new book set in Eastern Rome. Loved writing and researching it! No release date yet - it just landed in my agent's hands.

Sandra

C.W. (cwgortner) | 27 comments Thank you, Amanda. I recently finished the second book in the Spymaster Chronicles, to be published next year; and I'm currently working on a novel about Lucrezia Borgia. There is no set pub date at the moment; it will be published by Random House, most likely in 2014.

Edi | 3 comments Esmeralda - Have you seen or heard an opera titled "The Conquistador"? It premiered in San Diego several years ago. I was wondering how it fared, and whether it has been performed in other opera settings.

message 9: by C.J. (new)

C.J. (cjverburg) | 4 comments Charisse Howard's book in progress is "Lily of the West: a Romance of the California Gold Rush." It's turning out to be more historical fiction than romance, with a lot (too much?) about sailing: When the heroine discovers her Boston grandparents lied to her about her father dying in the Great San Francisco Fire of 1851, she enlists the young captain of a Cape Cod packet schooner to help her find him. You can see the cover & read ch. 1 on the publisher's website: http://boom-books.com/charisseH.html

Hi Edi,

No, I'm not familiar with that opera. I'll look for it. I'm an opera fan. Thank you for the heads up....

May (mayzie) | 19 comments Hi, All, I am looking for a good Civil War fiction featuring Mary Chestnut.
If I am correct, she wrote extensive diaries during the war. Any suggestions?

message 12: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bracewell | 4 comments Thank you, Amanda. I'm working on The Perilous Tide, the second book in my trilogy about the 11th century queen of England, Emma of Normandy. The first book, SHADOW ON THE CROWN, my debut novel, will be released by Viking on Feb. 7. 30 days from today!

All her writings were diaries and they are packaged in short and long form. "Diary from Dixie" is a good introduction. If you want more, there's a "complete" collection."

Stephen | 3 comments Me? I'm writing a novel about the political exploits of "Vito Marcantonio" a mid-century left-wing congressman from East Harlem known as the "bread of the poor." It's called "The Goodfather."

Andrew (andrew1121) | 3 comments Oh he supported Henry Wallace in his 1948 presidential bid if im not mistaken. (I Just read David Pietruza's 1948)

message 16: by Stephen (new)

Stephen | 3 comments You are not mistaken. What was the name of Pietruza's book?

Candi Holme (goodreadsCandi) | 1 comments Hi, I am a new published author to this group and would like to say that I am thrilled see an historical fiction group. My favorite authors so far are Philipa Gregory and Diana Gabaldon. I hope to read The Queen's Vow soon, when I can find some spare time.
If anyone enjoys reading about the Late Classical Era and the Migration Period, my book is available in ebook formats at most dealers. I currently have a reviewer assessing my historical fiction, along with reviews by people who have read my book.
Any advice would be appreciated.Candi Holme
