Is anyone else confused about the ending of this book? When there was the explosion and Prim died it explained that Katniss was swimming and she was on fire. Was she really swimming? Or just the sensation? I'm just confused!

Yeah I think it was a metaphor she was using. No water, just fire :)

I'm a bit thrown by the very existence of the two books after Hunger Games

Really? I thought the ending was the little boy and girl and Peeta and Katniss being together?

I was a little confused about the fire mutts why did she think she had transformed into one ?

Did she ever see Gale again?

Basically Katniss never recovered from the shock of her sister dying. I think she would have been able to recover if it was President Snow's doing but because it was fellow allies she trusted and helped it was too much to handle and when she lost gale because of the whole "it was his bomb issue" that drove her insane. Which made her chose a companion to survive not because of love. Remember Gale and Peter had a discussion of who she would chose in the end and then Gale said "the one she won't be able to survive without".

I quote from the last pages

"so after , when he whispers "You,love me. Real or not real?"
I tell him , "Real".

In my opinion she didn't love him in the end he was the thing that kept her sane and kept her alive.

Still an excellent book just wished her character could have recovered and become stronger.

=)
