sooo, just me, or did anyone else just gasp with the whole christian the sub situation?! Number one, like she says, its just wrong. Number two it is heartbreaking, and, i think shows the complete broken-ness of his inner self. Just made my heart absolutely break . . .

Totally! Its maybe my fav part of the whole series, its when he shows that he cant make it without her that he is desperate for her, and while my heart just breaks everytime I read that part, at the same time im in awe of the power of the situation. Also just love Ana for realizing what he needed, for being down there with him on the floor to pull him back. I love how he is so broken, how he flips through his fifty, and yet at the end has really turned his life around emotionally, yes for Ana, but also for himself. love love love love all of this!

It wrenched my heart and now every time he reveals a little more of his inner self and his awful past, it makes my heart wrench even more.
I just want to hug him!

Yeah, my thoughts exactly!

I cried too! His love for her is so overwhelming. That's what makes you love Christian Grey.

You and me both. There were many times I cried and laughed throughout the story. I can cry during a Bud commercial with the Clidesdale horses galloping to "I'll be Home for Christmas."

I know Melissa, it gives me a lump in my throat everytime i read them. What i wouldn't give to have a relationship like theirs, so much love, and excitement! The only thing that gets me down is that its pure fiction!!! How i wish real life could be like this!!! lol :( x

Sarah Jane wrote: "Melissa wrote: "Sarah I want my own too!! These books got into my head and heart and I could not stop thinking about them. I loved how Ana was able to be patient and loving enough to try his lifest..."
I'm addicted to Christian's & Ana's story. I'm almost done listening to the tapes, #3 and I know I'll listen to it again. This is the 3rd time!

Ellie

I'm glad Ana changed him for the better. They still played their little games without the violence.

i agree it really scared and surprised me.

:::sigh::: My poor Fifty.

Lynne, there's another song by Snow Patrol that does the same thing to me. It's called What if the Storm Ends. When you listen to it, you can't help but think of Christian & Ana. It's one of the songs James chose for the soundtrack.

I have this downloaded to my Spotify account on my FSOG song list! I'll have to listen to the words more carefully.

Yep I agree

I was a bit startled to find Christian going down on his knees like a sub Actually ended up reading that part twice to make sure I read write and it was definitely gut wrenching and I never thought he would actually do that must say the best part of the whole book

Yep I agree"
I couldn't agree with you more. That is what's so compelling about this story...his deep love for her. It brought tears to my eyes when he got down on his knees to her, as her submissive.

Yep I agree"
I couldn't agree with you more. That is what's so..."
The thought itself was so moving that it was really difficult to envision it and wrenches your soul

I don't think I could have said it better myself!! :-)

Oh my... me too! To see him get down on his knees like that... it broke my heart! I think this scene demonstrated how truly vulnerable Christian is, and how difficult it is for him to manage his feelings and emotions in a healthy way. He responded to the situation the only way he knew how... and it was sad to see (to read!).
This scene was intense to read, and to me, this series is filled with intensity! And that's what makes it so good!

I totally agree. I think I actually might have yelled, "NO" out loud! lol

It was thematically symbolic, because Christian would rather revert to his old position as a sub and give Ana the control than have her leave him. Thematically speaking it is significant to Christian's growth as a human being, and also because it shows his lack of understanding of how relationships work. Ana wants an equal partnership--he doesn't understand how that works because in his personal experience one person must always hold power and the other must always be obedient whether in bed or in public. I started crying during this scene because of how significant a statement it was to his character.

Good analysis!
