He needed a good break. Just because he had been abused doesn't give him the right to abuse. He needed someone to control him because he was honestly out of control with his feelings. He needed coaching and guidance, therefore if he was ever to stop being a jerk he had to give up the ghost and take it like a man(or girl).

And I think he kinda liked it being a sub. I understand that for Ana this was unacceptable, because she is in love with him and so on and so on... But come on what 15 or16 year old isn't turned on by a great looking mature lady?
Yes Mrs. Robinson had a big influence on him but he still had a choice to go away or tell someone if he felt abused at that time dont you think? He liked it and thats it:)
