Karen Hammond (karenvancehammond) | 1 comments BOOK REVIEW- T.A.P.S. Cy Fy Channel~~ “Tired of the same old paranormal read? Fortunately, Karen Vance Hammond brings us a breath of fresh air with "Shoe Marks.” Karen truly has a talent for enveloping her readers into the story, which surrounds Maggie Horton, a homemaker who lived during the late 1800's in Texas. The book reads like a modern day fictional novel, only this story is based on true events. Coming from a paranormal investigator of over 6 years, let me be the first to tell you that this is a must read!"~~~~ Brad Duplechien (Founder of Louisiana Spirits and a Sy-Fi channel Ghost Hunters T.A.P.S. Assistant)

BOOK REVIEW- Kevin Smith, host of the Kevin Smith Show.
“Grabs your mind by its throat within the first few paragraphs and never turns loose; an outstanding read. Karen Vance Hammond’s Shoe Marks captured me. I couldn’t put this one down. It is a must!” ~~~~

BOOK REVIEW-- "Shoe Marks" is one of the best paranormal stories I've ever read. Chapter One grabbed me and pulled me right in. The entire rest of the story held me in its grip until the very last line of the very last page. It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. I couldn't put it down. Historically set alternately in the late 1890's and mid 1940's, in both rural America and war torn Europe, this is a brilliantly written ghost/mystery story with endearing characters. Intricately woven, it leads to a most unexpected and surprising climax. If you like ghost stories, if you like mysteries, I highly recommend "Shoe marks."

BOOK REVIEW-- Peace River Ghost Trackers - featured on the Sci-Fi "History spawns the paranormal in this story. Young teens to older adults will enjoy this; a real page-turner. I couldn’t put down."

Amazon reviewer—“Beautifully tense, with the ghost activity leaping off the page from the very beginning. Sympathetic characters, a lively setting, and the little voice whispering in the back of your head that 'this is based off true events' will keep you turning the page and biting your nails. I read this book sitting alone in the basement of a big house, and I had to move to the living room to look out a window into the afternoon sunlight.”

BOOK REVIEW—Lisa Smith- Cypress Ridge High School---“Shoe Marks is one of the best paranormal novels I have ever read in my life. My friends kept talking about this new book Shoe Marks. From what my friends told me, I had to read it for myself. The moment I started, I could not put the book down. The paranormal activity will keep you on your toes with each turn of the page. I had to wait two weeks for it at my school library. It was well worth it. I can’t wait until her next novel comes out on the market. I am now a Karen Vance Hammond reading fan. This book is wicked beast!”

BOOK REVIEW- Caprielle Kauke—Jersey Village High School, Houston, Texas. “Shoe Marks, is the best! It is fantastic! Oh my gosh, this book is so good. I am recommending it to all my friends. I can’t believe what this poor family went through. When reading this book, I could actually see and feel what was going on, like a movie. Karen Vance Hammond’s’ writing flowed beautifully keeping my full attention from one paranormal scene to the next. I am an avid reader and have to admit some parts really freaked me out that I had to go into my big sisters room so I wouldn’t be alone. I didn’t want Shoe Marks to end. I can’t wait for her next novel to come out.”

BOOK REVIEW- Tracey Jones 8th grade Bleyl Middle School. “I was disappointed Shoe Marks, was not available on the Scholastic book tour. So many of my friends have it. I asked our librarian if she would get it. Mrs. UpChurch said yes. I was able to check out Shoe Marks a month before school was out. I love this book. It is awesome. I can’t wait for her next book to come out.”

BOOK REVIEW-- Tammy Harris Price
Everett High School-CTE Teacher-- Everett, WA “Texas legends come to life in Shoe Marks, a paranormal. A book based on true events grabs my attention and pulls me into a world where I question what’s real and what’s not. It takes a lot for words on a page to capture my attention. Shoe Marks easily does that by placing the reader in the setting to experience the story along with the intriguing characters. Upon finishing Shoe Marks, I breathed a heavy sigh and knew everything would be just fine; it was only words on a page…or was it? I suggested this book to our school librarian and look forward to hearing from students who read it; A definite read for teens and adults who like a little thrill in their books!

BOOK REVIEW Barnes and Noble --“O.M.G, this novel is WICKED BEAST! If Shoe Marks, a paranormal inspired by true events that took place in Texas turns into a series, it would really be way cool. This is my first time reading a book by Karen Vance Hammond. But like serious; this is true events. I checked this new novel Shoe Marks in our school library. I didn’t want to go to sleep until I finished it. I have had this author as a substitute. Some people think she is strict cause she makes us do our work, but really she is so COOL. Anyways, thanks Ms. Hammond for Shoe Marks and guy’s you have to read this book. If you do you will never stop reading.” ;D

BOOK REVIEW— John Arredondo, Texas Book Review---Shoe Marks, a paranormal inspired by true events that took place in Texas is outstanding! If you like paranormal, the past and World War 2, this is the book for you. It is filled with rich history dating back to the 1800’s and 1944 when Major Jeremy Stone purchased the famous Horton House unknowing the horrific paranormal activity soon to be leashed on this family. A true story; I could not put this book down. ----Entertainment at its best!

AMAZON REVIEW- “A friend recommended this book to me and I have to say I was not disappointed...the author did a wonderful job telling this story and the ending was COMPLETELY a surprise...wow! I would recommend this book to anyone!”Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

Amazon Review--I don't usually read paranormal books, although I love the paranormal. I would have never thought it possible that I could get so hooked from the first pages like I did. It was terrifying to read at times and had me biting my nails. Karen Vance Hammond has a great voice that carried throughout, her attention to detail impressive. I had no idea about rations during the war or that you could actually go to a store with very little on the shelves, surreal. As events began to happen to the family with the ghost "Maggie," I was screaming, “get out of the house!” Shoe Marks filling and spewing blood! Unbelievably terrifying! The realtor kept the dirty little secret of the Horton House from the family - and having paid in cash for the house, the family had no options or anywhere to go. It was a real page-turner that had me by the throat with a surprise ending I just didn't see coming. Great job, Karen Vance Hammond; I can't wait to see what you write next!
