I will be out of communications for the rest of today and half of tomorrow. I am heading down the coast with Jayne to have a Christmas lunch with my father, brother and sister.

Great idea.
With an early Happy/Merry Christmas Frederick Forsyth’s The Shepherd
has a movie adaptation

Disclaimer : Haven’t seen
It was released last Christmas, and it's fantastic, although the tacked on ending spoiled things a bit.
Good to know. Had read that a full length film was planned, until Covid restrictions ruined the production schedule. Didn’t know there was a tacked on ending.
A very Merry Christmas to all the group members - I hope everyone has a great Christmas and all the best for the New Year!🎅🎅🎅

Very merry Christmas and happy new year to everyone. Marc wrote: "'Thanks Rick! Hope Santa Claus doesn't melt in the heat Down Under!! "
A predicted 37c this Saturday here in Brisbane. All praise the aircon.
Merry Christmas, all! No air conditioning necessary here in Detroit- yesterday was quite nice, but as I type this the temperature is right at 32º Fahrenheit/0º Celsius...
Anyone else have problems with not getting any notifications from this group? I click on the "notify me" button and it lasts maybe few days and then silence.
Perato wrote: "Anyone else have problems with not getting any notifications from this group? I click on the "notify me" button and it lasts maybe few days and then silence."Same for me, Perato. It's been a couple weeks. I contacted GR. They gave me instructions to do all that I had already done. The problem remains unresolved.
Notifications and the feed update are very poor. It takes a lot of time and effort to read reviews from GR friends, as only a handful of friends appear on my feed. I have done everything suggested by GR, but to no avail.
When I started school again about 5 years ago, I wanted to keep up with all of the discussions and started keeping them on Word docs. (I am a few years behind on all the threads, but I regularly update the docs with the new posts by going to the recent notifications button - the thing in the top of the main GR webpage that looks like word clouds from a comic strip - and posting all of the new entries on my docs.)It might not be a solution for everyone, but if you do that practice, you will know where you left off, and it might help so you don't miss anything.
I hope that's a helpful suggestion. (Of course, you may end up like me - reading news from 2021 in 2025, but it's a price I pay.)

Very interesting link, Liz.
Today I am pre-packing our household items and furniture including most of my books to go into storage tomorrow for 8-10 weeks. I have selected a few books to take with me on my wanderings until we can move into our new apartment. I should be able keep involved in the group discussions except for the occasional day or two without internet service. First item on the agenda once I move in is to get some new bookcases built so I can unpack my books. It may be a few more weeks of no access to my library :(

Thanks for that link Liz. Asa Kent Jennings was amazing, a real hero.
Bucharest, Romania -- We'll be roaming around Bucharest for a couple days in August, gee never thought I'd ever say that. Any info on, especially WW2, history musems or sights ?
I see the usual Art and history museum listed, but often the military items don't make tour books.
Hard to believe it's already the 4th of July. This year is going by quickly! Still listening to all the crackles, booms, and pops! 🎆

I probably not get the opportunity for that perspective ....Billy wrote: "My uncle flew in a B-24 during the raids on the oil fields around Ploesti.
