Garth Ennis and Keith BurnsPersonally I found the storyline a bit thin, especially when compared to other WW2 comic books...
You are correct Jonny. I had to dig around and find it. If folks want to discuss comics & graphic novels then you can continue to do so in this thread:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Roger that
I watched a really good documentary last night about book dealers in New York, and it occurred to me that some of you might like it, so here is a link: https://www.amazon.com/Booksellers-Pa...They have a lot of good military history docs on Amazon Prime also (too many to list), including an English-language version of the television series on Erwin Rommel that was made in Germany some years ago (https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detai...). I remember reading about it at the time & hoping to be able to watch it at some point, and I'm sure some of you did too. I've only watched a little bit so far, but it seems fairly good...

I am saddened to report that one of my childhood heroes, the great Scottish/Irish actor Sean Connery, passed away this morning at the age of 90.
I also loved Connery in "The Hunt for Red October" (which is the film version of one of the best novels of the Cold War, imho).
by Tom Clancy
I also liked 'The Hunt for Red October'. As far as his other roles aside from Bond are concerned, I've always thought he was particularly good in the film adaptation of John le Carré's The Russia House...
Damn. Once again from the bad news department, legendary (and controversial) British foreign correspondent Robert Fisk has died at the age of 74. Perhaps best known for his classic book of war reportage Pity The Nation: Lebanon At War (and in the first instance, of course, his reporting from and on the Middle East generally), Mr. Fisk was not only one of the greatest reporters of his generation, but arguably one of the greatest ever. Well, I suppose I know now what I'll be reading next: The Great War For Civilisation: The Conquest of the Middle East has been sitting here unread for long enough at this point...
I heard that news, very sad indeed. We are losing so many good author's this year! I have enjoyed all Robert Fisk's books and his "The Great War For Civilisation" is an excellent book. He was working on a follow on book titled; "Night of Power : Calamity in the Middle East" so I wonder if we will ever see that in print.

James Bond: "Who are you?"
Pussy Galore: "My name is Pussy Galore."
James Bond: "I must be dreaming."
(Actually, that little exchange is from the movie, not the book. It's been nearly twenty years since I last read it, so I don't remember if it's exactly the same in the book.)

Pretty amazing to be flying a plane aged 100!

Great story Liam! What a tribute on Veterans Day. We had a neighbor, a WWII veteran, who used to fly his Cessna 150 almost every day, weather permitting, until he passed away at 93 a few years ago. Bob was a great storyteller about his days flying B-29s and other flying tales.

I'm away visiting my dad down the coast so I have intermittent access to GR's, will be back tomorrow and will catch up with news. While I'm away my wife and the pet dog are guarding my library and the wine cellar.

That beastie was so friendly it actually helped me pick out books
LOL
By the way Aussie your wife thinks you have too many books. She was willing to look the other way while I took some, but it didn't seem right.
As you know, I never touch your wine cellar. I don't drink wine. As for the books I only read them while I am there. It would be rude to borrow without you there to say it is all right. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
My wife says the same thing about my books. I am moving from one city to another this month, so she told me not to buy any new books. It's hard not to buy books, but I am getting whole new bookshelves since I am losing my built-in bookcases at this house.

Thanks Jonny.
As to WW2 comic books available in English: I just found out that Romain Hugault's series Le Grand Duc (3 books) was translated :-)
The artwork is amazing and the story a very interesting one (though maybe not quite as engaging as Tardi's work).
Here's the link:
Romain Hugault just illustrated a book about Antoine de Saint Exupéry which is fabulous but alas not yet visible here.
The film I mentioned earlier was also released in the UK and US as The Officer's Ward
