Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments Overload Overload by Linda Howard by Linda Howard. I needed a short book to read before my copy of Bay of Sighs (The Guardians Trilogy, #2) by Nora Roberts arrives tomorrow.

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I just finished a Maisey Yates Copper Ridge one One Night Charmer One Night Charmer (Copper Ridge, #5) by Maisey Yates and enjoyed it. Now on to a new author to me

Lancelot of the Pines (Louisiana Knights, #1) by Jennifer Blake Lancelot of the Pines. It's contemporary, in spite of the Lancelot thing. ;)

I'm reading that one now too. It's a bit contrived, what do you think?

message 1406: by Janeiowa (new)

Janeiowa | 5009 comments Yes, but then almost all of them are, I guess. Some just take more "suspension of reality," than others do. ;)

message 1407: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (gr-nancy-a) | 799 comments Our June book club pick was A House Divided by Robert Whitlow..not a romance, but good book that we all liked.

message 1414: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Finishing the third in series of the Innsboro trilogy by Nora Roberts. I have to say overall they were boring. After I finish up The Perfect Hope The Perfect Hope (Inn Boonsboro, #3) by Nora Roberts I will start on Fairest Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles, #3.5) by Marissa Meyer It is a novella from the Lunar series

message 1415: by Janeiowa (new)

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I agree with you, Dee, on the trilogy. Too much on remodeling, etc. for my taste. So, even the best authors fall into e overdoing of a favorite "thing" in their books - LH and the dog, NR and the Inn, etc.

Totally agree with you. It's like they don't know when to stop a good thing...

message 1417: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments LOL, yeah that is a really insightful analogy. I was disappointed in the Boonsboro Trilogy too. Especially The Perfect Hope. I was more impressed by the ghosts than the living characters.

message 1418: by Janeiowa (last edited Jun 25, 2016 04:04PM) (new)

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I just finished another boring book in a series I've enjoyed before. It's Only Love was one issue repeated so often it became boring and predictable. Maybe another case of "series fatigue" by an author.

Again, I'm in agreement with you, Janeiowa. I had to skim and skip through this one to get to the end.

message 1420: by CD {Boulder Blvd} (new)

CD {Boulder Blvd} (boulderblvd) | 1047 comments I'm reading Love You to Death Love You to Death by Shannon K. Butcher . The writing and the plot are good but there is a little too much "he's so good looking/she's so good looking" in the middle of the suspense.

message 1421: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (gr-nancy-a) | 799 comments In the middle of Kristan Higgins: If You Only Knew.
[Waiting for a big reveal on our hero's past..hope it's just that he's embarrassed by his family's wealth but suspect it is more :).]
The book is deserving of it's high marks so far....

message 1440: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Based on your review Anita I have put it on my TBR list. I love reading your reviews

message 1441: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments Thank you. I write them for me, mostly, and to let like minded readers know when I find a book or author I really like.

message 1442: by Janeiowa (new)

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I'm buying the series, too, based on Anita's reviews. That is what makes GR special to me..finding other people who share my taste for romance and don't give me that sneer and rolling eyes when I say what I enjoy reading. That's also what I love about my IPAD...strangers can't see what I'm reading.

message 1443: by Janeiowa (last edited Jul 31, 2016 01:02PM) (new)

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I'm deep into and absolutely loving one I got for .99

Trust My Love Trust My Love (The Toussaints #1) by Iona Findley

It's a psychic artist (and I don't normally like paranormal, but it's kind of like LH's Dream Man) and a hot, wealthy New Orleans police detective.

This is far better than the "established" writers who are charging upwards of 12.99 for a disappointing book.

CD {Boulder Blvd} (boulderblvd) | 1047 comments I just finished Devil and the Deep Devil and the Deep (Deep Six, #2) by Julie Ann Walker and was really disappointed. I am afraid my thoughts on this one are in the minority but there were a number of things that didn't work for me or that bothered me in the extreme.

message 1448: by Janeiowa (last edited Aug 05, 2016 05:55PM) (new)

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I've been disappointed by several "big name" authors, but Jill Shalvis came through for me with her delightful
