Eve (everf) | 815 comments The first 3 books in Lisa Klypas's Travis series are one of my favorite series and we had to wait so long for Joe's story. There was so much potential there, none of it was reached for this book. The 4th book, Brown-eyed Girl, was boring, slow-going, absolutely zero chemistry between the two main characters. I'm also tired of seeing overused plots. TBH this story did not fit with the series.
I called a halt to the book somewhere in the middle and perhaps try to read it again sometimes later.
The price was indeed too much for this book!

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I bought and enjoyed the 3 earlier Travis family novels and she ended with those three...but apparently was convinced by readers to do Joe. The early synopsis of the story changed from the final manuscript and the release date seemed to be moved around, and I wonder if she just had trouble getting it written. At least, for me, that seemed the case. The final product just didn't come close to the standard of the earlier three.

As Dorsey said, I know many love her historicals, but they're not of interest to me.

EDIT: I just saw Eve's comment above after I'd posted and also agree 100%. $12.99 for an ebook of this standard? NO WAY. I don't ever pay that much for a contemp fiction work. I think twice at $7.99 and will wait months to borrow it if it's for loan from my library's digital consortium.

Nancy | 69 comments Just finished two fabulous books, Career of Evil and Mind Magic. They are both very different books, thriller-mystery and paranormal romance respectively. Both of them are 5 stars reads for me. However, Mind Magic is book 12 in the series and this is not a book that you can just jump into as the world building is very complex and there are a lot of back story. Career of Evil is the third book in the Cormoran Strike series, and this is probably my number one series that I followed. I loved, loved Cormoran Strike and Robin, and I think that JK Rowling has surpassed herself in her writing in this must-read series.

I just finished reading Royal Wedding (The Princess Diaries, #11) by Meg Cabot and I'm finally ready to start The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins and Missing You by Harlan Coben , lovely birthday gifts from a very thoughtful friend.. I've never read these authors before so really looking forward to it even though I'm a bit apprehensive. Linda Howard and Nora Roberts are my usual zones of comfort and standards of reference. ;)
