Welcome to the 21st of century. If you drop your book, then you pick it up and continue reading, but when you drop your kindle or pad, then... ;) So BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP.

I'm reading Lisa Kleypas Travises series. Just finished Sugar Daddy and really liked it. Now I'm reading Blue-Eyed Devil and also enjoy it.

Cherry-Ann | 4269 comments Yes, Anita...Sugar Daddy was a good success story. I liked how the protagonist (can't recall her name) handled her responsibility without looking for welfare and handouts but really applied hard work. Must look for the other books in the series myself.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I just finished Heroes Are My Weakness Heroes Are My Weakness by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and I really liked it. A lot of SEPs are really funny. This one isn't really funny, but there is a lot of good scenes. I know I didn't like her last two, but this one I really did like. In the beginning Annie kept a hatred for Theo, because of things he did to her when they were children. That irritated me, because it has been about 20 years since they have seen each other. Fortunately, that stopped pretty soon.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) That's a shame. I loved The Pillars of the Earth but then I'm a big fan of historical fiction.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments I finished Mean StreakMean Streak earlier this week and liked it. It was full of twists and turns like a good Sandra Brown book should have. Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments I just finished Night Watch by Suzanne Brockmann #11 and the last book of Suzanne Brockman's Tall, Dark and Dangerous series. I loved it and am so sorry that it was the last one. This series was more romance than Troubleshooters, but just as good.

Now I'm reading #5 Crazy Sweet (Steele Street, #6) by Tara Janzen in the Steel Street series by Tara Janzen and it is crazy good. Sexy, humorus and a dangerous situation too. I love this series.

Janeiowa | 5009 comments Carolina Girl Carolina Girl (Dare Island, #2) by Virginia Kantra

I've come to love the novels of Virginia Kantra. I'd not heard of her before, but learned of her works here at GR. I'm very impressed with both her storylines and her characters. I just finished Carolina Moon, which was a Kindle special; I immediately went back to Amazon and gladly paod for the next one, Carolina Girl. I'm about to dive in and be part of Dare Island when I finish posting this. :)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments Now that all my grandkids are back in school, preschool, I have finally blocked out enough time to attempt to read Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon . It is slow going for me. I haven't read any reviews so I don't know anything about the plot, except that it is a time-travel.

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) | 598 comments I hope Outlander hasn`t ruined me for all Highlander books because I just gave up on another of McCartys and I have read hers are highly rated but I couldn`t even finish this second one ,I think it was Highlander Warrior.

No. That's in the Campbell Trilogy (Highland Warrior).

Here's the Highland Guard series list for more info.

message 836: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments Kathy Anne, I think I agree with you. Outlander has definitely spoiled me for other Highlander books of the bodice-ripper variety. With the emphasis on history, rather than sex, Outlander has outclassed a lot of books.

message 837: by Kathy Anne (new)

Thanks I will try the first couple and see if I am completely ruined.

I never did like History or war so now I think Outlander which is full of them is the gold standard apparently-I sure hate to not be able to read any other Highlander

Eve (everf) | 815 comments I'm in the middle of Heroes Are My Weakness by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.
I like the writing style but the storyline is surprisingly dark and humorless. Annie's fascination and her constant inner chatter with her "puppets" is kind of creepy (just like the hero). But there's something in SEP books and her writing style that's not letting you stop her books and try something else. You always want to know what happens next and always finish them ;)

I always considered Susan Elizabeth Phippips and Jennifer Cruise to have similar styles, witty, romance, and the last 2 Jennifer Cruise hit me the same way, kinda creepy.

I'm sure that it won't be a problem for long. I plan to read a few screw ball romanced to lighten up my mood after I finish Outlander. I have a lot of Hannah Howell and Karen Marie Moning Highlander books and a daughter who tells me I'll really like them.

message 843: by Kathy Anne (new)

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) | 598 comments I don`t know about Howell but I read KMMs Highlanders a few years back when they first came out and they seemed almost having a modern feeling to me didn`t care much for them but I will try Howell will see if Outlander is still mushing my brain for any thing else

I just picked it up from the Library. I used to buy all her novels, but the last 3 or so were so blech that I stopped buying and started borrowing.

I read an excerpt and Annie seemed a bit beyond "odd" in that excerpt. I was hoping SEP had gotten her writing back on track---I loved her earlier stuff---but your comment makes me wonder.

I just finished Outlander and my brain is definitely mush. Can't seem to find the spirit to start any other book and I've got Getting Rowdy (Love Undercover, #3) by Lori Foster waiting on my Kindle.

SEP newest book is not bad. And I'm certainly starting to enjoy it (seems to become a habit with this lady's books; I didn't like Kiss An Angel first but in the end I loved it) ;)
There's a touch of Daphne Du Maurier and other gothic elements. And the heroine acts more normal as the story moves on and like Dee pointed out - there's a lot of good scenes. So I'd recommend.
