Hey! Just found out we're having John during our live Q&A tomorrow here at Comic Con! Got any questions?

Nick (whyzen) | 1295 comments Most of your novels are in the 300ish page range with a few exceptions which makes them excellent for a satisfying quick read. Is this on purpose?

We are reading Leviathan Wakes which was written by two authors under a pseudonym. Ever consider co-authoring a book say with Patrick Rothfuss or Amber Benson? Saw you, Pat, and Amber during the Geek and Sundry opening marathon. All three of you seemed to get along well. That would be a guaranteed purchase for me with a line up of any two of those authors.

Also, would you please change out your profile picture on goodreads. Its freakin' me out man!!!

Aidan (adribbleofink) | 53 comments With the success of The Shadow War of the Night Dragons, Book One: The Dead City (or, more seriously, "The God Engines"), does he have plans to write more Fantasy, maybe even a novel?

I'd also be curious to hear his thoughts on the changing landscape of publishing and how he predicts the Internet (with places like blogs, forums, twitter and Goodreads becoming the new form of word-of-mouth advertising) will affect his own approach to writing and publishing. With such a large platform, has he considered self-publishing? What are the draws of staying with a traditional publisher?

Kate O'Hanlon (kateohanlon) | 778 comments Tor.com are serializing his next novel, before I get excited (well, more excited) will it be available internationally? (Asked in an even toned and non-confrontation spirit).

In The God Engines one of the secondary character's gender is never revealed. Props on the near seamless avoidance of pronouns, but what was his reason for doing this?

Does his agent count?

Most of his novels are short-ish, quick reads and Tor plans on breaking up his next OMW novel into even smaller chunks. Does he have any plans for a larger space opera along the size of Leviathan Wakes? I would love to sink my teeth into that.

Casey | 654 comments When you are working on rough drafts, how much are you focusing on the language and grammar aspect of the writing and how much are you just focusing on unearthing the story. Can you briefly describe your writing process when it's the first time through a new story?

message 13: by Aidan (new)

Aidan (adribbleofink) | 53 comments Ooh, good question, Casey!

message 16: by Ulmer Ian (new)

Ulmer Ian (eean) | 341 comments I really enjoyed The Android's Dream, and I see on Wikipedia there's a forthcoming sequel. Please ask about it. :)

Nick - Most of your novels are in the 300ish page range with a few exceptions which makes them excellent for a satisfying quick read. Is this on purpose?

Charles Stross mentioned on his blog that books with more than 300 pages require a different publishing process. So if you see a book with 300 pages and change I think you can assume the publishers more or less set the length.
