BEBE (beebee12) | 4 comments I would have to say my favorite part about reading a YA book is just reading about the variety of author's writing and writing styles. Also I love it when I find a book I really like. :)Even if I don't read YA books all the time when I do I like just relaxing on a comfy chair and seeing where the book will take me.

Kirstin | 57 comments I can't say I read ONLY young adult books but i must admit that most of my favorite reads are YA. I like seeing characters grow from childhood to adulthood like in Harry Potter, Darkest Power series and Uglies to name a couple. And of course nothing beats first love. :)

Alina | 7 comments I totally agree with what Kirstin said. I love reading about how a character grows from kid to young adult/adult. It touches something inside me. Like A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalid Hosseini....

Ollie (ollie_in_the_sky) | 9 comments What I like the most in YA is the first-everything the character does and lives through. It is so intense and unique that makes me savour each word like it is the last. And we can't forget about the DRAMA, I mean every teenager is a drama queen, they don't think while deciding, they overly think after the mess is done. So, what's there not to like? :P

Cassandra Giovanni | 90 comments I actually like the YA books that concentrate on older characters, the ones that are more mature and don't have so much teenage angst. I like it when the character is 18-mid twenties. I guess that's more of a YA, adult cross-over novel.
I really like the first love and truly discovering who a person is that can be found in YA novels.

Stacy | 3 comments I love how the characters grow but also what they learn along the way. I really enjoy the "first love" stories because it is so new and innocent. The drama is good too!

I like that some of the character have the same/similar emotions as me on certain issues. Also, I like how it's easy to see yourself in some of the charcter's shoes.

I think I love reading YA because I like to relive and experience, the excitement, romance, and angst of being a teenager again. I think most novels in the YA genre are fast-paced and thrilling, and they are often written in a style that is both engrossing and easy-to-read, with story-driven or character-driven plotlines.

I also love that there are so many YA books created into a series nowadays, so that you can have additional adventures with your favorite characters.

Could my love of YA be simply because I’m still stuck at age sixteen, just a teenager-at-heart in disguise?

Yup. And like many of you, I’ve read hundreds of YA books (you’re NEVER too old to read young adult novels, IMHO) and I can’t actually say that I didn’t enjoy them all. Some I loved and I mean “LOVED”, and these books became like good friends that I didn’t want to part with, so they adorn my bookshelves and wait patiently to be reread again one day. Other novels were simply read and then disregarded with a contented smile.

And you know what? I am NEVER embarrassed to buy YA books (although I buy most of my books online through Amazon) in bookstores or carry them around with me. I love the genre and always have. Always will.

Happy reading,

Sherry
