Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I got this as my lending library freebie one month but then it popped up as a freebie to own. Excellent book.

Bump It Up:

Blood Orchids (A Lei Crime Novel, #1) by Toby Neal

Captured (The Captive, #1) by Erica Stevens

This story was a total enjoyment, keeping me up long into the night because I could not put it down. I liked that vampires were not lovable creatures and the prospect of an impossible love between two different beings as dissimilar as light and day.

I think that Josie would totally dig the Beauty and the Beast theme here.

Started it today and not bad.

Another freebie that is worth a bump up is The Scarlet Dagger (The Red Sector Chronicles, #1) by Krystle Jones - YA but kind of has a Divergent- ish feel but vampy...

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9662 comments Lol, I debated getting the Scarlet Dagger but decided not to on a whim...now I regret it. :)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments DEPENDS How (Not) to Kiss a Toad by Elizabeth A. Reeves How (Not) to Kiss a Toad by Elizabeth A. Reeves, Cindy Eller series.
Did not read like a freebie. Story arc of series and book descriptions are enticing (plus well reviewed by friends). I abandoned 30% thru because the bakery aspect that some reviewers found charming just irritated me personally (the endless flat lists of flavor combinations got on my last nerve) in what I thought would be more paranormal adventure plus not so into the romantic interest as I took Timothy immediately in dislike. Seriously, not picking on the writing style, writing or copyediting (I usually do with freebies) so I think this one just hit more personal tastes wrong and others will really enjoy the whole series.

BUMP Keep Me Ghosted (Sophie Rhodes Ghostly Romance #1) by Karen Cantwell Keep Me Ghosted by Karen Cantwell. Sophie Rhodes Ghostly Romance series.
I enjoyed. But basically a lighter screwball style chick lit with his and her ghosts thrown in and a rather easygoing romance. So if grimmer UF is your glee instead of lighthearted PNR this one might not be for you.

DEPENDS The Seven Steps to Closure by Donna Joy Usher The Seven Steps to Closure by Donna Joy Usher - I liked while reading; found somehow dissatisfying upon finishing. Freebie showed in uneven pacing, And a little meh because I always felt it was gearing up to be funny, to be really good get back at ex stuff, end rushed and part of ending was the "if only they had talked" the whole tension behind plot of ending would have been resolved -- just a lot of teaser that would get good that kept me reading. Promising but uneven with a lot of coincidences versus natural plot flow, ending rushed. But, I liked a lot of it so an author to watch and it could be a contemporary romance another reader would really enjoy.

DEPENDS Yes Chef, No Chef by Susan Willis Yes Chef, No Chef by Susan Willis - I think I would have liked if only not so lopsided in forgiving guy everything because was drunk. Not badly written for a freebie. Started off okay. Mostly her POV with about 3 chapters in his (none of which made him likable). Too much girlfriendy stuff; with plot pieces like Lisa's dad brought up and dropped and icky sappy all is forgiven ending, after all he was too drunk most of the time to know he was an ass. Of course her other potential hookups were all squicky and his all hawt, another example of lopsided-ness. Made me question if author was female.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments TRASH Dating Games by Kimberley Gold Dating Games by Kimberley Gold - A really strange book apparently light-hearted chicklit but with really odd, random vulgar scenes choppily inserted (an effort to sell to readers or a publisher by revamping a run of the mill story?). I don't mind vulgarity or outright erotica but this was choppy and did not fit (and icky in terms of being drugged and accosted by strangers not interested in). I did not finish; when looking back up to write this there is a note from author that she is now selling the book in a censored and uncensored format which may explain the "choppy."

Bump It The Wedding Gift The Wedding Gift (Four Weddings and a Fiasco, # 1) by Lucy Kevin by Lucy Kevin. Contemporary romance, novella length, fade to black variety of sexual explicitness. A good, light read with a story length that did make the romance a little rushed and the ending conveniently sappy -- but did not read like a freebie and kept my interest (not as funny as series name implied and, honestly, I would not have read if I had noticed was a novella just because I don't usually care for short works).

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Depends. 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover (Hex, #1) by Linda Wisdom 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover by Linda Wisdom - Did not read like a freebie, but an uneven read for me. Some amusing moments (gotta love killer bunny slippers and Vincent Price References). Some cringeworthy ones (or a good drinking game if you want to chug every time "labia" gets mentioned).

Danielle Book Boss (daniellebookboss) | 1009 comments Here are a few that I've read over the last year:

I also review all my freebies if they have less than 100 reviews on Amazon so you can always click the title below to see full details.

DEPENDS:

Half Blood by Lauren Dawes - this was an odd book, full of rape references, it has the para-theme of werewolves and vamps...
Ral's Woman (Zorn Warriors, #1) by Laurann Dohner - Meh, poorly written. Laurann Dohnner is a pretty popular author but this story seems like it was something she did during a lunch break or something.
Crux (Southern Arcana, #1) by Moira Rogers - I really wanted to like more than just like this book but it went from PNR to UF and the h and H were separate from the 50% mark until about the 80% mark.
Fall From Grace (Mad World, #1) by Christine Zolendz - poorly edited however great story. I would read the second book if it were free.
Her Dark Angel (Her Angel #1) by Felicity E. Heaton - Mostly steamy scenes, not much story

TRASH IT

How to Date a Werewolf (Rylie Cruz #1) by Rose Pressey - in the running for one of the most annoying/dumbest heroines ever created. In the running for the most clueless hero.
Feather Down (Raptors Revealed, #1) by Lorie O'Clare -It was like reading a manual on owl matings - homes/apartments were referred to as nests, there was shifted owl sex, there was all this stuff about honor and it was just odd.
The Accidental Demon Slayer (Demon Slayer, #1) by Angie Fox - disjointed.
Darkness Falls (Darkness Falls, #1) by Jessica Sorensen - confusing
His Every Desire (Her Billionaire, Her Wolf #1) by Aimélie Aames - delete it.
The Canuck Werewolf (Big City Pack, #1) by Marisa Chenery - short and unnecessary
Rest For The Wicked (The Claire Wiche Chronicles, #1) by Cate Dean - boring, awkward interactions
Claimed (Brides of the Kindred, #1) by Evangeline Anderson - I don't mind a heroine who does not easily adjust to a circumstance that is thrust upon her but this girl fought it until about 80% into the book. She has a twin who seemed to cry at every turn. Super annoying/whiny heroine and her twin who is the next heroine.
Celtic Fury (Celtic Storm Series) by Ria Cantrell - So this is set in Scotland however the characters speak like they are second generation US immigrants. What I mean is that one minute you can sense that your character is Scottish and the next they seem like they are my neighbors. Another delete.

BUMP IT

To Kill A Warlock (Dulcie O'Neil, #1) by H.P. Mallory
Taming the Vampire (Blood and Absinthe, #1) by Chloe Hart
Nearly Departed in Deadwood (Deadwood Mystery, #1) by Ann Charles
Marked (Eternal Guardians, #1) by Elisabeth Naughton

Wolf Running by Toni L.H. Boughton I was expecting a nice shifter romance novella but it's not what I got. Think Walking Dead with Beast from the Jane Yellowrock series tagging along.

King's (The King Trilogy, #1) by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

I might of just been in the mood and despite the annoying Mia character, I really like this one. Warning it's dark and has a cliff hanger... King is a very mysterious character and it was different. He's gave me a Barron's vibe, who and what the the heck is he?
