Colleen Hoover is currently writing the 3rd book in the Slammed series called This Girl. It begins after the wedding and is written from Will's POV. You can read an excerpt here http://colleenhoover.com/what-im-work.... It sounds great so far!

Nancy I didn't get the book for the longest time because of all the reviews I'd read. I don't mind sex in my books, I even enjoy some books about gay couples. Then I got Fifty Shades of Grey and when I'd finished it I had to go and buy the other two. Yes there's a lot of sex in the book. But the main character was so damaged and it was fantastic watching him change. There was a reason he was into dominance/submission. I call the second book the metamorphasis of Christian. And it was wonderful to read about.

Marcel I didnt mind the writing so much, in fact some dialogues were actually quite fun to read
I also didnt mind the pornography, though I thought for romance it was too much and for porn to bourgeois

what I did mind though is the way women are depicted. I could excuse the depiction of a silly bimbo as male fantasy, but this?!? please... it's so demeaning...

message 1762: by Carole (new) - rated it 5 stars

Carole I find many of the people who read Fifty Shades do not to focus on the healing power of true love may have missed the message in the book. If you are not damaged by the world as was Christina I can understand your confusion. Compulsion is a power to be recon with and his compulsion to control came from a very realistic source. Those of us who were abused at a age such as Christian's character can relate. He was lucky to has found Ana to help him heal. I consider the sex part of this book not unusual but I have also hinted that I understand on a deeper level how disturbing the damage to the character Christian can be.

message 1763: by Nancy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nancy I agree with you completely Carole. Christian was damaged by what he experienced at a very young age. He's fortunate he ended up with the family he did, even though there was a problem there also, with the friend of the family.

Carol, your statement is brilliant. It's how I felt about the story. Thank God I was never a victim of of this horrific crime. It took the deep love of Ana to heal his troubled soul. It is a magnificent love story that will stay with me forever. Thanks for sharing.

message 1765: by Kristi (new) - rated it 3 stars

Kristi Hudecek-Ashwill I never thought I'd get caught up with any book series especially this one so I am surprised that I've just spent the last day and a half reading 35 chapters of Meet Fifty Shades Continued (thanks for the tip Ellie!) and Grace's diary.

I didn't like Christian all that much while I was reading the series but there were times that I almost cried for him.

Now, after reading this blog (Meet Fifty Shades Continued), I understand him better and rather than hate on him for doing the twisted things he does to and with Ana, I feel bad for him. He doesn't know any better so I have to forgive him for being that way. I really do think the guy is decent and kind for the most part. He cares about other people and he loves Ana and she loves him.

I'm still not sure I'd call it a romance but it is definitely a love story.

Kristi, so glad you enjoyed reading Fifty Shades Continued. I cried for him as well. He really had more good in him than he thought. It took Ana's love to bring it out. The guy who wrote it did an amazing job keeping to the story line. :)

message 1767: by Nancy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nancy That's how I felt about Christian from almost the beginning of Fifty Shades of Grey. Ana I feel is an extremely strong person to be able to see the real Christian. I also enjoyed reading Fifty Shades Continued as well as the short one by Christian's adopted mother.

Who is writing this blog? I'm not so sure it's a guy. I think it's E.L. James herself despite the disclaimer at the top of each chapter.

At first I thought it was a guy but as I read it, "he" was way too in touch with Christian. I mean, he didn't miss a beat or make a mistake with character form or anything that even remotely deviated from the character in the books and who knows Christian better than the person who created him?

Just saying...

You might be right, but James wouldn't put it out there for nothing, if in deed it was she.I believe it's a man and, I have an idea who it might be. He is a fan fiction writer from the U.K. and writes Sci-Fi.I'm going to check out his novels and look for comparisons. I'll keep you updated. Only a man could get into the psyche of another man. This writer did it brilliantly.

message 1770: by Carole (new) - rated it 5 stars

Carole Thank you for for such a nice response. I have had a sad childhood but no were near as bad as the charater Christian. I have taken jobs that help people in trouble and have encounter similar lost souls. Some I keep in touch with. For each of them I wish an Ana charater could be there for them to help them out of darkness. Most of the time even when they find someone the over whelming fear they will distroy them makes them leave that person. This was the case with my first love. I still hear from him every so many often but I could not help him. This is where my understanding of the relationship in this book stems from. So many broken souls. So many unable to accept help. Thanks again

message 1771: by Shubha (new) - rated it 1 star

Shubha My friends loved it and was encouraging me to read it. So I was like its a best-seller why not?Anyways wouldn't I be judgmental if I say I don't like it yet I didn't read it at all? I wanted to able to discuss with my friends and others and give my honest opinion about the book. And how can people comment without reading the book? I truly can say I hate the book. I am not going to my own conclusion as I read word for word-to give my review. It was an annoying read wanted to give up....but I'm definitely not going to read book 2 or 3 whatever my friends or whoever thinks of the book!!!!The only thing that I agree with Ana is that Mr Grey is FIFTY SHADES FUCKED UP!!!

There is so much visceral feelings when you read this book I am not surprised you cannot read on. You must be one of the fortunate ones to not have this level of pain in your life. Maybe when you have experienced this level of true loss and utter emptiness you might remember this book. I recommend reading the first part of book 2 when Christian's break through comes out. You have just finished the worst part. So Why do you think all three books are currently on the New York Times best sellers list? That is because unlike your situation most of us have experienced this level of demise to our heart and soul and can relate to this story. Be glad you have such an untroubled soul. I envy you.

He was fucked up, but everyone's entitled to redemption. A lot of people root for the underdog and are able to look past the bad in someone as long as there's some good. Especially if a person has experienced difficulties in life. Some look at Christain and only see the bad so they choose to hate him. But I look at him and see the broken-- so my heart naturally goes out to him.

message 1775: by Anj (new) - rated it 2 stars

Anj i just recently learned that this started as a fanfiction modeled after Stephenie Meyer's Twilight. That answered my wonder about the writing technique. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I'm saying it has a good enough story to be published, when it was pitched, someone took it. I think people have different preferences when it comes to books so trashing other people's choices is really uncalled for.

message 1776: by Roo (new) - rated it 1 star

Roo I think this is a bit of a childish thing to say. People have a right to their opinions; if they didn't we wouldn't have book clubs. Also, how can authors get better if there's no constructive criticism for them to benefit from? We can't go through life avoiding things we don't like. Plus you assume people who don't like it haven't read it- what about those of us who did, and were disappointed? Are they supposed to just sit down and pipe down?

Well i gave the book rating 1 so its pretty clear how I feel about the book-very depressing. What I find the most disturbing is many readers are in love with Mr grey after reading 1st book ????Why? In book one his personality is very selfish and one can immediately tell his a psych patient. But Ana knows this but his 'hotness' and how powerfully rich he is over rules her emphasizing how naive she is. How many times does she say he is 'hot'? Like she is hypnotizing the readers in believing her excuses for accepting his clearly not normal behavior. Is love really that blind? Good to hear from others that he changes in the other last 2 books(still not going to read it).

message 1778: by Allison (new) - rated it 1 star

Allison I honestly read the book just to see what the hype was about. I knew there'd be a lot of sex scenes but there were far less than I was expecting. And the sex scenes I felt for the most part were nothing to get too worked up over. I know a lot of people freaked out over it, but I honestly enjoyed reading it because I went into it having a pretty accurate idea of what to expect. I honestly enjoyed reading this book and I think it's worth giving a chance. But if you give a chance, you have to go into it with realistic expectations. Obviously what I was expecting was far worse than what was written because none of the sex scenes really shocked me at all.

Jennifer Synesthesia wrote: "I don't care if there's sex in it. I'm more annoyed over bad writing and yet another book encouraging women to run off with jerks.
I refuse to read it."

I agree...I read the first just to see what all the hype was about. I was not offened about the sex, or the amount of it, the book was just terrible. It was poorly written and without the sex (which at some point also becomes boring) the book has nothing to offer. Needless to say I will not be reading the second or the third.

Kristi Hudecek-Ashwill Ellie wrote: "Kristi wrote: "Ellie wrote: "Kristi wrote: "I never thought I'd get caught up with any book series especially this one so I am surprised that I've just spent the last day and a half reading 35 chap..."

I agree to a point, Ellie but at the same time, I'm inclined to think that nobody knows Christian as well as the author because she created him. She made him who he is and if you are trying to pick up a character from another persons work, you either have to spend tons of time studying the intelligence dossier or the character sketch which isn't always one hundred percent because as the story progresses, the characters tend to take on different traits that aren't in the dossier or sketch. So obviously this guy has read the books even if he says he doesn't own any copies of them or maybe Christian Grey is a real guy and the guy writing the blog is Christian Grey...?

However, I do see your point with E L James giving up a free book when this one would make sure she'd never have to work again for the rest of her life even though this trilogy has probably secured that. Why would she do that? I do see your point on this.

I'm interested in what you find out when you do the comparison between this blog writer and the sci-fi author. I hope you post your findings. :)

I didn't love Christian Grey after the first book. He actually scared me a little bit but after I read the rest of the trilogy, I was less afraid of him and felt a little different about him. I didn't love him until I read the blog which I finished just last night.

Sorry you took my comments as most important. Did you not understand you are the better off for not having this understanding. I meant it to wish you the best.
Here are some great books that are out there that are great love stories.
You can look for Romance list.
Some of my favorites are
Julie Garwood (The Bride or Ransom are my dog eared copies)
http://www.juliegarwood.com/Booklist.asp
Or Stephanie Larens For 18th century fun
http://www.stephanielaurens.com
Or Susan Elizabeth Phillips for funny contemporary romance http://www.susanephillips.com/

I realize the Gray books are defiantly not for everyone but a majority of people can relate is the only point I was making. Sorry again to have you feeling bad. You have a very valid opinion and are a great person because you can honestly respond to my text.
Happy reading.

I will. Christian Grey's complexity has become a real character study for me. I find human behavior facinating. Some people are always quick to judge without fully understanding why the individual acts or believes a certain way. I think environment has a great deal to do with it. Some people have the will to rise above adversity, others need a helping hand to show them the way. And, then there are the ones who could give a s..t. If James would continue with the story,it might show where he gets his brilliance from. Perhaps his biological father was a wealthy industrialist who hired Ella for a couple of weeks for sex because of her beauty. But had disdain for her drug addiction. He never knew she had a baby...his son.

It's late, 1:15 a.m. and I better go to bed. :)
