This was AFTER the Rush Limbaugh incident.

Mary, I don't trust any of them. They lie on both sides of the fence to advance their own political agenda. Know who you're voting for and what they're really about. If JFK were alive, he would be livid with what's going on. He was the first president I voted for.

The pill costs aproximately $100 per year in Australia. I couldn't imaging having to pay $1500-$3000 a year, that would break some people/families.

the fact that it's a sex book is not why people don't like it.. if you noticed people say that the writing is horrible which it really is and tht's the main reason that people bash it..

I first voted for Jimmy Carter. I do tons of research on candidates before I vote. Obama certainly is not perfect, but the republicans have lost it. They have gone completely over the edge and I actually fear for the future of this country if they get what they want.

Sosena it doesnt matter how many times we say we dont like the writting that its not the sex that bothers us alot of ppl still fall back on that saying its the sex that bothers ppl Im not ashamed to say i read sex books lol who cares to each their own. so im not embarassed like some say. I agree with the other its the writting not the story line not the sex but the writing ive even said before if it was written better and the sex scenes were a little less and the story a lil more it would have been a great book

The most common form of the pill costs between $10-15 per month. However there are some women who cannot tolerate the common form. Some of the more expensive brands can cost between $85-120 per month. When women have access to cheap or free birth control, the rate of abortions decreases as does the rate of single mothers.

i agree with u Mary im worried

The most common form of the pill..."
yea im tellin ya teen pregnancy is gonna rise higher i just feel like they are tryin to set woman back...its our right to use birth control if we want Mitt And Paul will not be good for us not for woman or the middle class

I see what you're saying but it's just that the original post kind of got me mad because I can't just judge a book without reading it so "Don't like it, don't read it" doesn't really apply to me.. and curiosity got the best of me and so I read the book and I made the same remark about how the book should have been more plot and less sex.

yea i understand, i dont agree with the whole DONT READ IT i mean everyone has to make their own judgement but i agree with ya less sex and more story would of been good. I wasnt offended by the sex not at all it was just to much of it and not enough story

Oh I see, I'm not very familiar with the medical system in the US, only bits and pieces I have seen on the news. In Australia most medical treatment is heavilly subsidized by our Medicare system, which in my opinion functions very well. Many people also pay for private health insurance which is useful for jumping the queue when it comes to surgery etc and paying for services that are not covered by the public system, such as physiotherapy and some specialist care. But it has been my experience that for standard medical interventions the public medical system works effectively. It is definitely not perfect though and with all healthcare programs there is always room for improvement, and the need for more staff and more beds.
We have some drugs that are not government subsidized and so can cost a bundle, although even some of these will come under other subsidies that will cover additional costs to the user.

only until he FORCED his subs to get on some sort of birth control but yes he did use condoms

He never forced them. They signed a contract.

Fair Enough! But seriously what else is there to talk about from this book, I think this thread has covered it pretty extensively LOL! :D

You're probably right. I'd rather be in the Christian Grey zone than the political zone. It's such a downer!

Ellie, that's awesome! I think the story told from christain's POV will allow me to be a bigger fan of Ana. I'd rather be stuck inside his head than hers... I'm sure there will be a lot less "inner-goddess" talk... Although I know u didn't mind it ;)

i agree with you completly, also i liked Reading Edwards POV in midnight sun vs bella's in twilight, so from CGs POV i think it will be alot more tolerable

i agree with u 100% about the editing part

Yes, the sex scenes are repetitive, but I truly enjoyed the characters of Ana and Christian.
Someone previously posted that they refused to read it because it is just another book encouraging women to run off with jerks. Listen, if you didn't read it, then how do you know what happened? And yes, Christian has issues, but I think it is a good example of how people can overcome such issues.
It's a book of FICTION folks... it's entertainment. And for all the haters, E.L. James certainly isn't worried about your piddly little opinions when she has to check her bank account balance!!! As the saying goes, sex sells! I'm PROUD to have read these books!
Y'all need to relax!

Well I can tell you that healthcare in the USA sucks. My Irish son-in-law recently had an aneurism in the language area of his brain. If he had been in the USA when it happened he might be either dead or brain-damaged. You see, his health insurance is the public option in Ireland. Here in the USA, the only obligation a hospital would have had to him would be to stabilize him. Thank God he was in Ireland when it happened. He spent 9 days in the hospital with several procedures plus brain surgery and it cost them 100 euro. It would not have cost anything if he had not gone to the emergency room (there is a flat 100 euro fee for ER). The bill here would have been over $100,000 for sure. The cost per person for healthcare in Ireland is about $3500. Here it is over $9000 and we have co-pays and deductibles out the wazoo. Medicare for all is my mantra.

Ellie: Feel free to skip the political posts. Threads have a habit of morphing back and forth. I am sure we will get off of the political issues soon enough.

Ellie: You want to take the politics out of this discussion, but then you bring it right back in. My niece took birth control for endometriosis. Another niece took it for ovarian cysts. Many women take birth control to regulate their periods and to reduce heavy cramping and bleeding (which can lead to anemia). Some women have latex allergies, etc. Birth control pills are not just a sexuality issue, they are also a female health issue. Providing birth control in a health plan saves EVERYONE in the group money. It is much cheaper for an insurance company to offer birth control on their prescription drug plan than it is to pay for a baby.

She didn't event "book sex"...there are plenty of other books out there with explicit sex scenes, as many of u have previously mentioned. So there has to be something more to her stories that has generated such a large fan base...
I personally feel that her story is memorable. She uses catchy phrases like "inner-goddess", "Laters Baby"...throws in clever back-and-forth emails...
And as for her famous sex scenes...she creates them with just the right amount of heat to entice a lover of erotica, but also uses enough reserve as to not scare away readers new to the genre. (Myself being one of those newbies.) For me, it was the perfect introduction.

I fought with my insurance company about it for years. It really should be a no-brainer. Birth control saves everyone money in the long run.

I'm very sorry to hear about your son-in-law, that is very scary, I hope he is in full recovery.
Both of my children were emergency c-secs with complications. In addition both of my children needed physiotherapy and other services for the first years of their lives for minor treatable conditions, my son who has just turned two is still recieving some physio. I went through the public system and have not paid a cent over the medicare levy that is covered in out tax system. Whats more the care my family have recieved has been excellent.
I certainly wouldn't claim that our medical system is perfect but it has done well by our family. I also believe that everyone has the right to access good quality healthcare. :)

Thank you B3cs. My SIL is doing great now. He has one more procedure and will be home free. I keep asking my daughter if Ireland accepts mother-in-laws. ;0)

well i personally think her books sold because word of mouth so i wouldnt give her credit there. but yea she did come up with some good phrases and bad phrases. but as for the sex no they werent overly dirty but they were very repetitive and they happend way to much i just wish she focused more on the story instead of the sex because yes a good romance has sex in it but it also doesnt take away from the story and i feel the storyline got down played by the sex but then again that is why word of mouth was such good advertising for this book....because the sex scenes...sex sells

I agree... Praise or Bash the books, whatever. It'll only make it so popular ;))

yes it does, i feel like its our right if we want to use it, and i mean lots of places what they pay out for insurance i mean hell it should cover bc.. my bf pays out 50 or 60 a wk i think is what he said for his insurance and when ur paying that much in for health insurance u expect it to cover more costs. its just insane seems u put more and more into things (not just insurance) and get less out of it now a days

Oh no problem Kris. I did not take it that way at all. Posts show up while I am still typing all of the time. Thank you for the good wishes. It was pretty scary there for 9 days.
