Eric | 35 comments I read a book in the late 80's early 90's. Its about 2 brother that are seperated. The brother's father was the kings elite guard who had been dishonored. However the father took the dishonor for doing a heroic service for the king in secret. I believe the brother were separated when the bad guys came to kill the father. The older brother became a pirate while the younger with a traveling circus. Both boys were taught how to use swords and laser weapons. One thing that always stood out to me was they have to flick their wrist when firing the laser to cut rather than pierce something. The bag guys are trying to over throw the king. The brothers reunite to stop the evil and revenge for their fathers death.

Cheryl (cherylllr) I'm glad you bumped this. Let's see...
Do you remember anything about the cover?
Could it have been part of a series?
Do you have a sense the author was well-known, or more obscure?
Was there any magic in it? Or space travel?

message 4: by Eric (new)

Eric | 35 comments don't remember much. I'm gonna say that the cover was dark ( black book dark colors) but I really cant be sure. And as to the rest I really don't know.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Well, keep bumping every month or two, and I'll be crossing my fingers with you!

Eric | 35 comments when I came to bump I relized that I some how missed 1/2 of your questions.

It could have been part of a series but if so I didn't read any of the others.
No clue about author's popularity. But I'm gonna guess obscure.
And there was no space travel or magic that i could remember.

I will add that the king is a good guy. I believe that the srevice the boys' father did was to save him as a child.

Eric | 35 comments SPOILER

In the end the king sets up a republic instead of a monoarcy. I'm not positive but the bad guy is the kings advisor I think he was a priest.

Eric, if you bump this up periodically--say every 30 to 60 days--you'll keep it in the front of people's memories and have a better chance at getting it solved.

So was this science fiction?

message 15: by Eric (new)

Eric | 35 comments Yes it was Science Fiction. But I don't remember any other tech. (no space ships or robots etc...) If I'm remembering correctly it was a medieval stories that just happened to have lazier pistols.

Michele | 2488 comments Was this an adult book or YA? Do you have any recollection of how long the book was, or anything about the cover? Do you recall how the brothers got separated (stolen, wandered off, etc.) or how old they were when they were split up?

message 19: by Eric (new)

Eric | 35 comments I don't remember the age group it was for. Prolly 200ish pages. The boys got separated because the night the father got killed the younger of the brothers was with a circus performer loosing his virginity. Age was teen years at beginning and maybe 5 years older at the end.

Cheryl (cherylllr) You've got good clues, and you keep bumping, and you have over 300 views. This must be a very obscure book. But don't give up. Just last month we solved a mystery that had been originally posted in 2009!

Eric, were the brothers twins?

What did the brother do in the circus? What type of performers were in the circus?

message 28: by Eric (new)

Eric | 35 comments They were not twins. I believe he became a trapeze performer.
