Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments You weren't wrong. I kept putting it down and then 10 minutes later found myself reading it again, thankfully it's been quiet at work this week.

Loved the character of PC Grant and the humour. Will definately be picking up the follow-ups.

Now for 'B' and in memory of his recent passing I am going to read Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes.

The sequels are just as good - they seem to be very popular at the moment everyone on Goodreads has either read or is planning to read them.

Lynne - The Book Squirrel (squirrelsend) | 3122 comments @Dave I am now 14th on the reserve list for Whispers at the library, was 30th so lots of people wanting to read it.

Almost there then Lynne it's a good read well worth the wait

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Just finished Something Wicked... Must admit I found it hard to get into, but did ultimately enjoy it.

Gonna read something that seems to be quite popular on here for 'C'. Plan to watch the film so thought I'd check out the book first.

Time to ignore the HYPE and see if 'The Hunger Games' is all it's cracked up to be.

message 8: by Dave (new)

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Well, I have to admit that i really enjoyed that, and am intrigued to know how it will continue. That will have to wait though need something for 'D' now.

message 9: by Dave (new)

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Found my D. Couldn't resist when I saw the title.

Robert Devereaux - Baby's First Book Of Seriously F***ed-up Shit.

message 10: by Dave (new)

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Very disappointed. Only a couple of stories were any good in my opinion. Couldn't finish the last one, it was all over the place.

Gonna try some Crime Noir for E. with James Elroy's Black Dahlia.

The film was great....hope the book is good. Elroy is a very intense individual. Saw a doc about him a few months ago and he's somewhat weird.

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Just finished The Black Dahlia. Really good read, will have to dig out the film.

Gonna read Hell Train by Christopher Fowler next.

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Just finished Hell Train. Really enjoyed it. Was brought up on all the old Hammer classics.

Going to read Dmitry Glukhovsky's Metro 2033 next.

Nikks | 521 comments Seems like you are making good progress through your a-z Dave. I just started and s seemed as good-a-place as any, so my challenge began. Be interested to see what else you are reading.

Yeah it's going nicely. Been introduced to so many books that I want to read since joining GR and the A-Z format makes it a little easier to decide what to read next.

Nikks | 521 comments Are you just reading new authors to you ? How's you G book going ?

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Nikks wrote: "Are you just reading new authors to you ? How's you G book going ?"

So far they have all been new, but I have the latest Stephen King for K coming up. He's one of my favourite authors.

Metro 2033 is set in Russia, so the place names have taken some getting used to, but its starting to flow along nicely now.

message 19: by Dave (new)

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Finished Metro 2033. A good read, but it ended rather abruptly and some of the translation was a bit dodgy.

Returning to a series I started a while ago for H with Charlie Higsons The Fear.

message 20: by Dave (new)

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Finished Higson's The Fear. Love this series and just found out there is a fourth book out soon.

Skipping on to K for my next read as I couldn't leave Mr Kings 11/22/63 sitting unread any longer.

message 21: by Dave (new)

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Just Finished 11/22/63. Loved it. Five Stars, no question.

Lynne - The Book Squirrel (squirrelsend) | 3122 comments Dave wrote: "Just Finished 11/22/63. Loved it. Five Stars, no question."

Glad you enjoyed it Dave, one of his best for a while I think.

message 23: by Dave (new)

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Yeah, he had a bit of a blip, but really enjoyed Under The Dome and this one really sucked me in. Great characters and descriptions. Still got his latest Dark Tower entry to read too.

Lynne - The Book Squirrel (squirrelsend) | 3122 comments @Dave, just re-read Under the Dome and enjoyed it better the second time, probably as I listened to it and the reader was excellent!

message 25: by Dave (new)

Dave Wood (pocket7976) | 775 comments Hmm 11/22/63 still sits unread on my shelf - its being moved up the TBR quickly through based on all the recommendations here.

You won't regret it Dave!

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Going to partake of a few horror reads as Halloween is fast approaching. Just finished an anthology by Edward Lee called Carnal Surgery. Some pretty good if graphic shorts. Now starting David Moody's Hater.

message 28: by Dave (last edited Oct 31, 2012 09:43AM) (new)

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Just finished Hater. Started slow but built to a bloody finish. Will definately pick up the follow-up

message 29: by Dave (new)

Dave Evans (grmpymnky) | 28 comments Just finished A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. A quick read and not what I was expecting. Not ashamed to say that it brought a tear to my eyes at the end.
