Maybe (maybeawizard) | 16 comments I was wondering what kind of music everyone listens to. Is their an artist that really strikes a cord with you or a certain style. I am trying to see if their is a correlation between what people listen too and what they read.

I am a Rush fan myself. I love all kinds of music though, they are just my favorite.

Warren | 1556 comments There is a thread about that. Slightly different title but same subject.
Hope that helps.

I saw the above thread and it pretty much focuses on the music people listen to while they read. I care more about their tastes in music in general.

Pete Nardone If you like Rush, as I do, check out Porcupine Tree and the recent solo work of it's frontman, Steven Wilson. I'd describe it as the dark, heavy side of prog rock; kind of Rush meets Pink Floyd meets King Crimson.

Since discovering the Tree a few years ago, it and Steve Wilson, are pretty much all I've been listening to.

Regards.

Good call on Porcupine Tree.

I discovered Steven Wilson due to his work with the heavy metal band Opeth (Steve Wilson produced three of their albums, Blackwater Park, Deliverance and Damnation).

My favorite Procupine Tree album is probably Fear of a Blank Planet.

Bryek | 273 comments hmmm, I like mostly 90s music: the verve pipe, smashing pumokins, crash test dummies. etc.
currently though my tastes are all over the place from rock to pop to adult contemporary... anything with good lyrics and is sung well.
and who can't love Queen, led zepplin and all those other old Rock bands!

Me. I hate them. Give me the O'Jays and the Spinners every time.

AnnaBanana Pascone (snapdragnful) | 40 comments I listen to pop, hard rock and classical. I alternate between Disturbed, Kesha and the dubstep violin stuff from Lindsey Sterling on YouTube, so I am kind of all over the place. It is easier to say what I DON'T like.

Casey | 654 comments I'm a big fan of the acoustic works of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Peter Paul and Mary. I also really like me some Simon and Garfunkel, Zeppelin, and CCR.

I also enjoy what is called Minimalism. Here's a great example of what I am talking about. It's a form of music where repetition is its main signature with respect to note variation.

Chris (axionsalvo) | 30 comments I cant listen to music and read, unless it has no words! I like classical if I'm reading, if not I'd go for Rock/Metal and Electronic things.

message 12: by Dustin (new)

Dustin (dustincorreale) mm. Lately a lot of folk or some indie rock/pop if it comes across my tunes. Some electronica or strings as mood permits.

message 13: by Charles (new)

Charles (candrews) | 60 comments Blues mostly. Specifically Eric Clapton. Hugh Laurie also recently released a good blues album. Other than that, I like 50s/60s rock'n'roll, 20s jazz, and most Glenn Miller-esque big band stuff.

... I have a suspicion that my tastes are somewhat out of the ordinary!
