Sorry this is late, but have fun listing the quotes from your favorite Aussie books. And hopefully you can relax and read the books with a Foster's and some shrimp from the barby!

'People talk about talent,' Mrs Sivan said. "What is this talent? Talent does not play itself. Talent is money in the bank, only. How you spend it, this is up to you.'
----
'Can I give talent or not?' Mrs Sivan demanded, suddenly.
I had refined an ambiguous movement of my head, part nod, part shake, that could be taken either way.
'Of course not! I am not God!' She looked momentarily astonished. 'I cannot give you seeds. But I can make grow what is there. I will develop what you have to maximum.'

And here is the thing about them men they was Australians they knew full well the terror of the unyielding law the historic memory of UNFAIRNESS were in their blood and a man might be a clerk or an overseer he might never have been lagged for nothing but he still knew in his heart what it were to be forced to wear the white hood in prison he knew what it were to be lashed for looking a warder in the eye and even a posh fellow like the Moth had breathed that air so the knowledge of unfairness were deep in his bone and marrow.
