I just went to watch the Maze Runner.
HOLY COW! It was super intense.
(view spoiler)[ Ok, so the computer graphics were top notch and the world building was on point. The acting was all very solid- props to Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Newt), Blake Cooper (Chuck), and Dylan O'Brien (Thomas) for great performances.
When Chuck died at the end and Thomas started crying, I was really sad, but when the camera panned to Newt clasping a hand on his mouth and tearing up, I nearly lost it. I'm not sure what it was about that particular shot, but it really killed me. Maybe it was because I wasn't expecting that kind of reaction from Newt; it wasn't in the book. But anyway, that was super FEELsy.
The only problem I had was that it felt pretty rushed- the movie literally cut out half of the book. So we missed the thing with the maps, and the words that they got from the maps (provoking the writers to create a different ending). And because it was so condensed, the relationships between Thomas, Teresa, and the others seemed really rushed and unreal. (Speaking of Thomas and Teresa, 0 romance in this movie. Zilch. Which is interesting.)
Overall, it was really good, and I recommend that you watch it. (hide spoiler)]

I saw it last weekend, Daniel! I loved it as a movie but as a book adaption I didn't completely dig it. I loved the actors (especially Dylan O'brien, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and Will Poulter). Overall it was definitely worth seeing (view spoiler)[omg when Chuck died, and Thomas started yelling and struggling my heart shattered, they did a spot on job. Wish he would have whooped Gally's ass like he did in the books though! (hide spoiler)]
