When you aren't reading romance dangerous heroes, what are you reading?

Although this is primarily a romance group, we can and do discuss books outside of this genre. Where do you find your dangerous heroes outside of the romance genre (excluding PNR/UF)?

I like urban fantasy and lately I have been reading Berkley mysteries

when I'm not in the PNR/UF realm, I'm usually reading Romantic Suspense or erotica -- so I'm still in the romance piece of the genre

I like to read action/adventure books, and there are some great DH guys in these:

Ice Station--Scarecrow is my husband!
Robert Crais Joe Pike series:
The Watchman--If bigamy was legal, Pike would be my husband too.
Mark Greaney Court Gentry series:
The Gray Man--currently boyfriend status
Lee Child Jack Reacher series:
Killing Floor--boyfriend

Also James Rollins has some good books with good DHs like Painter Crowe

I like to read YA books. I just finished reading . It was really good!

I also finished It's a romance that has a deaf/mute Hero. I fell so in love with him! ;-)

When I am not reading PRN/UF or romance. I usually read non fiction. I just finished which is about a group of RECON Marines during the invasion of Iraq.It was really good. There were exciting, funny, sad, and frustraiting moments through out the whole book. Plus, I am all for a man in uniform. They really brought to life the whole experiance of the invasion to me. There is also a mini series of the same name that HBO did. It was really well done.

I also love classics like and . They have some great dangerous heroes and lets face it they aren't classics for being bad books. :)

Lastly, Shakespeare! He wrote some awesome dangerous heroes. Although I prefer watching his plays rather than reading them. I just finished watching Coriolanus and it was Amazing. He was definately a dangerous man.

When I'm not reading PNR/UF, I read YA-most recently I read (and really enjoyed) Under the Never Sky and Obsidian.

I also enjoy historical mysteries. My favorites are Silent in the Grave and What Angels Fear-this book isn't my favorite but I love the series, both series have dangerous heroes actually :)

I'm a VERY eclectic reader and thus I don't think that I read one genre exclusively over anything else. I belong to 3 PNR/UF/BDSM bookclubs on goodreads, but I read WAY more genres than just that plus UF.

Though, I would have to say that I do read an awful lot of non-fiction. Liberal politics, Native American studies non-fiction books, nature/garden writing and last but VERY not least... food writing. Anthony Bourdain is my hero in that non-fiction genre.

I'm reading The Affair, which is in the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child. If you like a tough, kickbutt hero, definitely check these books out. It's great on audio.

In addition to romance, I also read mysteries and thrillers - I love a good serial killer book.
My favorite authors in this genre are Tess Gerrisen, Alex Kava, Lisa Gardner, Beverly Connor, Jonathan Nasaw.

What's Alex Kava like, Lauren? I have always seen his name and never got a chance to check him out.

I highly recommend Lee Child's Jack Reacher, Robert Crais's Joe Pike, and Mark Greaney's Court Gentry series if you like a seriously dangerous hero kicking butt. I also love Matthew Reilly's Scarecrow series.. He's one of my book husbands!

Alex Kava is actually a her. Lol, I was also astounded to learn that the author is a woman.
She writes the Maggie O'Dell series about a FBI profiler who is like a cross between Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs and Dana Scully in The X-Files.
The first 5 books are really good - each one focuses on a different serial killer and I rated most 4 stars. Unfortunately, Kava has changed the concept in the last few books and now the cases range from biological warfare to terrorists, which I'm not as interested in but they are nevertheless well written.
