What do you like? Fantasy? Horror? Sci-fi? Chick lit? Bnyk lg nih...
Kalau saya, mmg recommend fantasy and YA coz that's what I like to read. Try Thief of Time, or Going Postal, both by Terry Pratchett. They're hilarious.
Kalau suka genre vampire, saya rasa peminat2 Twilight (ehem) leh recommend something..
Nakamura,
Now that you've stated that you like sci-fi, it will be a lot easier for everyone to give his/her recommendations.
If you like sci-fi, probably you'll like Asimov's short stories in the robot series. He was so eloquent, he didn't use too many bombastic words, and his storylines were all very imaginative yet quite logical for us to digest .

Saya rasa Nakamura dah khatam habiss dah twilight kot.. Ye, dak??
Saya pernah baca Ken Follet, The Third Twin. Saya rasa buku tu ok jugak. Sci-fi tapi takda lah tepu sains sgt kot.

anywy, y don't u try the vampire academy's series, written by richelle mead.. menarik!! but if u're interested, i suggest u read the books on june.. y? bcoz the next book in this series will only be released on july 2009 n u're gonna be crazy when u finish the THIRD book, n (again!!) you don't want to wait like forever to know what exactly happened next.. trust me.. i suffered enough!!

ada yg ckp Tiwlight best, ada yang tak suka. For me, I think Twilight biasa je. I wouldn't say it's the best book I've ever read, far from it actually. But it's quite enjoyable, nevertheless. Although I do think that the story got worse with each sequels. But that's just my opinion. Ignore the movie. Never trust a movie that is based on a book :)

kalu u all ade citer yg mnarik lg, kongsi la yer.. i tngh gler ngn vampire skrang.. hehehe..
Dear Hannah,
I am finally cured from the twilight fever. Finally, thank God. I do agree that the story does get worse with each sequels. At times when I look back I do feel a bit like a fool and laugh at myself. Hehhee. I've never however finished any sequels as fast as that. So in a way I am proud of myself. For a snail-reader, low-attention-span person like me, that's an accomplishment enough . Hahahaha.
But but but. To those trying out Twilight do not be discouraged. Everyone has their own cup of tea you see. So to heck with it if your opinion differs from the rest. And DO NOT judge a book by its movie. The book is usually much more enriching, satisfying experience. After all, you've got your own imagination to play with, not some Hollywood director who might not even do his/her reading.
Sorry. Off-topic. But I think it's important to emphasize that everyone has their own cup of tea and how movie adaptation could change your impression of the book, 180 degrees.

It's ok Hanna and Faizah......your opinion is highly to appreciate...nways......TQ....hahahaha...so skrng saya tengah membaca Vampire Academy.......really nice and enjoyable.......sampai lupa nak antar thesis.....hehehehe....

congratulation to you.. you've finally (even if i dont know for how long.. hehehe..) cured from the twilight fever. you know what? you're right. never EVER judge a book by its movie!! just see what happened to harry potter!! i was so very dissapointed..
ermm, i'm going to buy the book this weekend (finally!!).. so, good luck to me!! hehehe..
to nakamura,
really nice and enjoyable?? are you kidding me? the book is so exciting!! i finished read all the three books in just three days!! and the fourth book? it makes me crazy for all this waiting!! well, what can i say? thanks to miss richelle mead!!

OMG!!! AM I AN ADDICT TOO??

BUT! I just finished the fourth book. And Faizah, despite being the veritable makcik, I am glad to report I am officially a fan of the Twilight saga. Betul!!!
I beg to differ with you all lah - I found the saga slowly building up, and by the time Breaking Dawn habis, wahhhh... the adrenalin rush is thrilling.
Mana nak cari draft of Midnight Sun tu? Are they going to publish it or not?
And sejak bila thread ni jadi Twilight thread? hahahaha

Bior recover dulu - bior balik berpijak di bumi nyata hahahaha
Hehehehe. Saya pun baru aje berpijak di bumi nyata ni haa. Tapi bangga jugok sebab berjaya menghabihkan buku-buku yang sangat tebal dengan kadar yang sangat pantas. Hehehe

hehehe... u ade knal mne2 doctor ke tuk introduce kt i, nakamura? especially a doctor who specialised in this crazy-vampire-addict department.. kekeke..
anywy, u da hbs bce shadow kiss? kalu da, smer2 la kte mnuggu ketibaan blood promise ya? =P n one more thing, gud luck for your the host..

haha.. 'cured'?? sounds... serious :) but congrats to u (both sbb dah cured, and also sbb berjaya habiskan buku-buku yang tebal tu)
Kataklicik, I know what you mean about the Edward Cullen obsession. It was getting on my nerves! Still is. btw, you can get midnight sun's partial draft at stephenie meyer's official website.
ok2, NOW I'll 'balik berpijak di bumi yang nyata' :)

Thks Hannah...saya dah download first cptr dah kat website tu tapi tak baca lagi...terlatest pada yang still nak baca Vampire Collection..bleh try baca collection Rachel Caine...ada 5 siri the first one is Glass houses...tapi tak sure best ke tak sebab tak sempat nak baca sinopsis buku tu.....tapi rasanya menarik kut..tryla hahahaha

have anyone read playing for pizza by john grisham??macam menariklah....any comment please....

erm, right now i'm still searching and struggling to find and to finish the twilight saga (just like you and shame on me too..), but i found another interesting series that i plan to read a soon as i finished reading this series.. have you ever heard or read the mortal instruments? they said, the series is very interesting? who agree with them? comment please..

order kat kino and they can send the books direct to your house. but there's delivery charge of course.
john grisham? saya dah taubat tak nak beli buku dia dah :p I've read The Client. It was interesting tapi halfway through rasa macam meleret sangat la pulak. or maybe, it's just not up to my taste. haha, i dont know.
mortal instruments? sorry, never heard of it. what is it about?

skang ni xle nk membace sgt...got some other things to do...buku kiyosaki y x brape nk tebal tu pown x abeh2 ag...huhuh

Other authors? Try James Patterson for staccato action. Richard North Patterson is another favourite of mine sebab plot dia selalu berbelit sikit...
I also recommend Jeffrey Archer. Try his short stories first. Terbeliak jugak bijik mata bila the twist at the end tu macam tak dijangka hahaha

In the movie, she has almost the same expression from beginning to end- too serious, a bit morose, and kinda depressed, especially for a girl who's supposed to be "unconditionally and irrevocably in love". Haha..
Hmm... maybe legal thriller's just not my thing.
Jeffrey Archer... slalu npk buku dia tp tak pernah tergerak pulak nak baca. If I don't like John Grisham.. should I read Archer?

Archer - first try la his short stories. Senang baca, pendek, grips your attention. Or try my favourite among the many - Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less. Lepas tu sure kena demam Archer. Jamin!
Kataklicik,
Never read Archer before, Grisham yes. He's better than Grisham? Wah, mesti cuba - mana tahu boleh merasa 'kenikmatan' demam Archer juga :). Lagipun sekarang saya tengah mengumpul short stories.

Salam.
Jeng! Jeng! Jeng! Bila dah disebut tentang Jeffrey Archer ni, macam seronoklah pula nak menyampuk. Kwang! Kwang! Kwang!
Untuk beginner, memang sangat-sangat dianjurkan Archer. Archer menulis novel dan cerpen. Beliau sememangnya penulis yang "eloquent". Gaya bahasanya sedap, dijamin tidak memeningkan kepala para pembaca yang baru nak berjinak-jinak membaca karya Inggeris.
Grisham pun OK juga, tapi cuba koleksi cerpen Archer dulu. Grisham memang karyanya tipikal condong ke arah perundangan, tapi Archer - bervariasi. Imaginatif, kreatif, dan sangat "twisted" akhirannya.
James Patterson ni, nak kata best pun, taklah best sangat. Kalau nak dibandingkan dengan Grisham, Grisham lagi baguslah. Cuma cara olahan Patterson tu nampak lebih "fast moving", sebab dia tulis setiap bab pendek-pendek je.
Kalau nak cuba penulis wanita, saya anjurkan Agatha Christie.

Tapi saya habis lah membelek semua karyanya masa teenager dulu!! So much so that I consequentially prefer "Midsomer Murders" (Ch. 702 Astro) rather than the very popular CSI :)
Dah tua beb...
Kataklicik ni tak abih abih tua. Hahaha. Mak dan ayah saya pernah belikan Agatha Christie tapi sampai sekarang dah beranak pinak saya tak baca-baca. Ntahla. Tak sampai seru lagi kot.
He he he, tak tau nak menyampuk sangatlah buku-buku Inggeris... Agatha, selalu belek-belek bukunya masa di perpustakaan, tapi macam Faizah agaknya, belum sampai seru.
Kataklicik,
You are never too old or too young to read anything.
Agatha Christie memang old school, tapi bahasanya taklah klasik sangat macam Jane Austen. Kalau nak penulis generasi zaman ini, saya sarankan Jodi Picoult. Haa, amacam? Rasa tua lagi ke?

Saya pun baru je try 1 buku Agatha Christie. Tu pun sbb ada sorang kawan yg suka sangat cakap pasal buku dia. Kalau teenagers lain obses dengan Twilight, dia pulak obses dengan Agatha Christie. Tapi tak menyesal la baca, sbb buku tu mmg best!
You guys really make me wanna go out now and buy a book by Archer.. Haha.. Lately saya selalu saja nak beli buku, padahal buku2 yg dah ada pun tak habis baca lagi. Most of them tak sentuh pun lagi. My "books to buy" list pulak makin panjang. Dan dompetku makin nipis, huhu...
