i'm sorry....did you try replace? If you go to edit and then replace,
and say you are looking for Sylafen.

so you type in, Sylafen. and then say, replace with: Sylafen

and then it'll go through and say, ______ replacements were made. and then you'll know how many times u used it.

Okee dokee so...I did what Paige said and...I've used the name James (my MC; first person!) 121 times in 197 pages. Huh...not as much as I thought it would be...but a lot for someone who's view is in first person!! lol. XD

Haha, June is used 266 times... and the story is 42 1/2 pages 1.5 spaced. Harold was used 96 times. mother is used 81 times, and mom is used only 37 times. father=23 times and dad=20 times.

the word 'the' is used 682 times. The word 'is'= 39 times. 'are'=36 times. but the word 'was' is used 280 times... hmmm.... 'were' 33 times. 'am' 5 times, but that's no surprise; it's in third person past tense. be=60 times. being=10 times. been=54 times.

hank=3 times. sharon=24 times.

Well, Roses for June is in third person, so it makes sense that June is used 266 times. But, Hunted is in first person, so James should NOT be used as many times as he is...lol XD

Tell them that the bible does it. Go and fetch David and Goliath. or is it the Flood story? I don't remember, one of those two. we actually read them in lit class and analyzed them from a cultural perspective, rather than religious.

I hate whenever english teachers do that, too- so what if it's not proper grammer? in writing, having and at the beginning of a sentence makes it more dramatic sometimes, and betteR!! grrr.
