This topic is open for discussion of Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh. Be prepared for SPOILERS.

Description:
THE HOT NEW NAME IN PARANORMAL ROMANCE.

Nalini Singh dives into a world torn apart by a powerful race with phenomenal powers of the mind-and none of the heart.

In a world that denies emotions, where the ruling Psy punish any sign of desire, Sascha Duncan must conceal the feelings that brand her as flawed. To reveal them would be to sentence herself to the horror of "rehabilitation" - the complete psychic erasure of everything she ever was...

Both human and animal, Lucas Hunter is a changeling hungry for the very sensations the Psy disdain. After centuries of uneasy coexistence, these two races are now on the verge of war over the brutal murders of several changeling women. Lucas is determined to find the Psy killer who butchered his packmate, and Sascha is his ticket into their closely guarded society. But he soon discovers that this ice-cold Psy is very capable of passion - and that the animal in him is fascinated by her. Caught between their conflicting worlds, Lucas and Sascha must remain bound to their identities - or sacrifice everything for a taste of darkest temptation...

southpaw285 Hi Lisarenee. I can start reading this book on the 5th.

I'm really looking forward to the buddy read for this series. I've been wanting to get back to it for awhile, and this is just the push I need.

I will start this one on July 5th, if that works for you.

southpaw285 I'm not a fast reader, Laura, unless it's an audio book. Lol

Lisarenee | 7659 comments I'm thinking 50 pages a day. I'll check now to see if I own this one.

southpaw285 Sounds great, Lisarenee.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Questions for Chapters Prologue - 3

1) So the Psy-Changeling series appears to be about two different species. The Psy who display psychic like abilities and the Changelings which are the equivalent of Weres, as in were-wolves and were-panthers. Which are you finding more intriguing at the moment?

2) So the Psy have been programmed/brainwashed into not displaying emotion. Prior to that their was an increase in their going insane enough to become serial killer or depressed enough to kill themselves. What do you think of the Silence?

3) Those who display emotions are reprogrammed so as not to. I shudder to think what that would entail.

4) Sascha and other Psys remind me a bit of Spock from Star Trek. I wonder if that character was what sparked Nalini's imagination to create this series?

5) Sascha lives daily with the fear someone might notice she's different. The more she's with the Changelings, the more she seems to get in touch with her 'human' emotions. Do you think given an option she'd attempt to leave the Psy network?

6) What is your opinion of Lucas? Would he betray her to get the information he wants?

7) What do you think of the Psy Council being "above the law"?

8) What did you think of Sascha's interaction with the cubs?

southpaw285 1. I find them both fascinating - I don't think one more so than the other, at this point. It will be interesting to me to see if the author reverses the roles in future - meaning a male from the Psy against a female Changeling. While it is the same make up so to speak, I think the dynamic would be quite different - and just as interesting.

2. I think the Silence is brutal. In creating something to eliminate the increase of insanity, they've also effectively eliminated "life". I also think it is very clever of the author to be able set up these two different "worlds". The interactions between Sascha and Lucas are very interesting.

3. I can't imagine a world without emotion. I know we are all different, and everyone handles emotions differently. Some are more emotional than others. Could you imagine what a "highly" emotional person would go through? It's so bad, that Sascha would prefer to be dead, rather and remain with any life at all, or at least that's the way I understand it.

4. I will probably get in trouble for admitting this, but I was never a fan of Star Trek, and therefore never watched it. I have no basis for comparison in that direction. My interest in this series is surprising, as it seems to have an element of science fiction to it, and I've never really liked science fiction. Who knows but what that might change in the course of reading this series.

5. I would like to think that Sascha would take the opportunity to leave the Psy network, given the chance. The struggle she is going through as a result of feeling more human is very clear. Again, it's so fascinating to me that the author can portray this struggle so clearly. It isn't something you are just told in the story, you can really feel Sascha's struggle.

6. You know, knowing that this is ultimately a romance book, and we're going to get the HEA, still you have to wonder about Lucas. Just how far will he go to get the information he needs? Keep in mind that they are trying to track a serial killer. I'm not sure whether he would betray her or not at this point.

7. I think it makes the Psy Council extremely dangerous. It will be interesting to see how the story plays out in this aspect. If the serial killer is part of the Psy Council as Lucas believes is the case, and the Psy Council is above the law, it would seem the serial killer would be untouchable. It's going to be very interesting to find out what happens in the end.

8. I think Sascha's interaction with the cubs shows Lucas that she has a human side. Although, he has already had the opportunity to witness some small part of emotion from Sascha (granted very little), I think this becomes a very revealing factor to Lucas, and proves she is not the cold, unemotional person she is supposed to be. This is what makes Sascha think she's broken, that there is something wrong with her. Very sad, but compelling.

I can't wait to see what happens next.

If I remember correctly, and I very well may not, Spock was half Vulcan and I think half human. Vulcans didn't display emotion--no smiles or variation in speech. Just the facts and seemed to have no sense of humor. You'd tell a joke and they look at you with a look would leave you thinking they think you're an idiot and not even the least bit amusing. I haven't watched Stark Trek in years, but when I was younger it was one of my favorite shows.

southpaw285 In that case then, I would have to agree. The Psy world would seem to be very similar to the Vulcan world.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Questions for Chapters 4 - 7

9) I find it interesting that Lucas' grandmother was Psy. Wonder if children who are born for a Psy/non Psy union would have any Psy powers? Do you find it strange Lucas dislikes the Psy so much since he is part Psy himself?

10) Okay I'm a little surprised about Sascha realizing Zara was not a leopard. Could there be some DNA in her that's not Psy?

11) "Changelings are different from the Psy, Sascha. We like things that are our alone, things that are unique." Double entendre?????

12) I wasn't getting a good vibe about Councilor Enrique or the Council. "None of the Council were people you'd turn your back on." It seems like all of them kill or cheat their way to the top. I think the theory that someone on the council could be the serial killer is a very viable possibility. They sound scary.

13) "The Psy had the biggest drug problem on the planet." ????? That doesn't seem right if they don't feel anything. I guess it depends on the type of drugs and what they're used for?

14) What do you make of the dreams? "Psy don't dream." Hmmmm....could this be one of her powers? To be able to infiltrate other's dreams?

15) So we got a small look into how the PsyNet works. Any thoughts?

16) I like the contrast Nalini displays between the Psy and Changelings when she reveals that Sascha's mom would probably have no problem with killing her yet Lucas mourns for his parents who've been gone for some time.

17) Do you think it's possible the Council are different from the other Psy and haven't been totally silenced by the Silence? Interesting how in her Guild Hunter series she has something referred to as the Quiet. I wonder why that is????

southpaw285 9. Yes, I do find it strange that his dislike is so strong, given as you say, he is part Psy. To me, I think they both have a little bit of the "other world" in them. It seems to me that Sascha has some part of the Changeling in her as well, or maybe that is just my interpretation of her.

10. I found this surprising as well. Again, it's almost like there is some part of her that is actually Changeling as well. While it's revealed that Lucas' grandmother was Psy, doesn't it make you wonder if perhaps there is a relative of Sashca's that was at least part Changeling? Wouldn't that explain some of the weird stuff going on with her? Like her picking up on Zara, the fact that she obviously has feelings/emotions when she isn't supposed to?

11. Defininte double entendre. However, I don't think even Lucas realizes to what extent "unique" means at this point with Sascha.

12. Yes, Enrique kind of reminds me of the Godfather. I wonder just how far Sascha's mother and Enrique would actually go. It seems that Sascha believes totally that either one of them would not hesitate to destroy her, were it to benefit them in any way. I must say that in the beginning, I was surprised at the extent of Sascha's mother's (sorry can't remember her name - Nikita maybe?) coldness towards her daughter. But then we are talking about a race that has no emotion.

13. You know, I didn't pick up on this. I missed it somehow, so I need to scan back through it. It does seem really weird though that they would have any type of drug problem given they have not emotions or feelings. I need to find that passage and re-read it.

14. Yes, I found the dreams thing weird too, again given no emotion from this "world" of people. However, did you pick up on the fact that Sascha new instantly how she was going to "deal" with her "attraction" towards Lucas? Remember, she was feeling such a strong pull towards him, and it was really messing with her mind, so in order to deal with the problem, she deliberately decided to "dream" about him. I found that very interesting. And again, we know that Sascha is not "normal" according to the rest of the Psy world, which is causing her such heartache and pain. The other part I found very fascinating about this, was her difficulty with feeling too much in the dream. When Lucas first starts touching her, she becomes very afraid because it's too much feeling all at once - even though she craves it. I find it very interesting the way the author has used this concept of it being a dream, but then it seems so real. And maybe this is one of her powers, as you say, to be able to infiltrate someone's dreams.

15. To me the PsyNet is a very scary place. No one can be trusted. Your life is in danger every day whether you realize it or not, because it would seem that no one would think twice about destroying you should you pose a problem to them or their advancement in ranks. At least that's the way I see it, but I could be wrong. You almost have to wonder though, in all that "bad" isn't there some good in there? I think Sascha is evidence of the good. It will be very interesting to see where the author takes us in the following books. I wonder if the Psy world will always be the "evil" world it is currently portrayed as.

16. Yes, I agree. It's like the dark vs the light. Again, I have to admire the way she takes a world that has no emotions or feelings and brings that to "life". It would take a tremendous amount of time and forethought I would think to write about a world that has no feelings. That's not your everyday average book. You have to really think through and be able to write out how a character with no feelings or emotions will be portrayed, character by character. Then you add in the mix of a character that is not supposed to even have emotions or feelings, but in fact she does. To me, that would be a very complicated plot, and very complicated writing. It's definitely unlike anything else I've ever read.

17. I think you bring up a very valid point here. Remember how Sascha told Lucas that the Council was above the law? I think the Council is different than the rest of the Psy world. I think you could be right about them not being silenced. I think the Council is a law unto themselves, which leads me to believe that the Psy world would eventually "fall" or be totally obliterated, because how can someone or something be a law unto themselves, without eventually being destroyed?. At some point even those above the law meet their downfall, don't you think? As for the Guild Hunter series, I don't know anything about that. It's very interesting though. Should I add the Guild Hunter series to my TBR, lol?

Lisarenee | 7659 comments I think we're both on the same page about thinking that Sascha is more than just Psy. I wonder if we're right.

Southpaw said, "I don't think even Lucas realizes to what extent "unique" means at this point with Sascha."

I believe you're right.

Southpaw said, "Yes, Enrique kind of reminds me of the Godfather. I wonder just how far Sascha's mother and Enrique would actually go. It seems that Sascha believes totally that either one of them would not hesitate to destroy her, were it to benefit them in any way."

I hadn't thought of that, but now that you mention it...

Southpaw said, "Remember how Sascha told Lucas that the Council was above the law? I think the Council is different than the rest of the Psy world. I think you could be right about them not being silenced. I think the Council is a law unto themselves, which leads me to believe that the Psy world would eventually "fall" or be totally obliterated, because how can someone or something be a law unto themselves, without eventually being destroyed?. At some point even those above the law meet their downfall, don't you think?"

I would think to govern, someone at the top would need some emotions to make judgement calls. If they are doing so then yes, I agree that structure is very likely to fall at some point. It would also bring about a problem because so far it doesn't seem that that inner circle has any checks or balances in place. Plus, if those individuals are as ruthless as it seems you basically get a dictatorship type government. Since there are so many books in this series it'll be interesting to see if any changes will be implemented.

I thought about Sascha's mom after I wrote the questions and before I fell asleep. While Sascha thinks her mom would have no problem getting rid of her there was that one conversation with Enrique where she said there was nothing wrong according to her DNA with Sascha. Could this be a sign she does care or just her own vanity speaking? You know how some people are the type to believe they are perfect therefore nothing they create could be imperfect--It's not allowed.

Also, the drug problem makes me wonder if perhaps other Psy are more like Sascha than she believes. Why else would they indulge in drugs? I would guess it would be to either feel something or nothing at all.

Southpaw asked, "As for the Guild Hunter series, I don't know anything about that. It's very interesting though. Should I add the Guild Hunter series to my TBR, lol?"

We just read the first book in the Guild Hunter series in this group last week. We'll be reading the second next Saturday. I'm attempting to toggle between the two series. I have to admit doing so brings things to light I might not notice. You may want to put the Guild Hunter series on your list especially since some time in mid to late September we'll have the honor of hosting a Q&A in this group with the author. I'm truly excited. It will be around the release of one of her books that very month. If memory serves, it will be the next in the Guild Hunter series.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Questions for Chapters 8 - 11

18) "I'm broken... And the Psy don't allow broken creatures to live." I thought they'd reprogram her, but this is much more serious.

19) Taking away pain? What kind of Psy is she? It sounds like what she did cost her physically. This is an interesting twist. ALso, from what Lucas surmised most Psy needed to be close by the person they messed with, but Sascha wasn't really all that close.

20) We now know more about the murderer. He's getting bolder and making mistakes and is brutal to his victims. Plus the whole mind going to mush? Scary stuff. Wonder if he can do that to a Psy as well?

21) Interesting that Sascha doesn't smell like the other Psy. Wonder why? Does that mean she's missing something or has something extra?

22) He marked her? Wonder if that just means he drew blood or something more significant?

23) It's kind of fun to see Sascha jealous. She now fears he couldn't put her first before the pack. She thinks he's sleeping with Rina. So now she's trying to reason herself out her attraction since the thinking about it or should I say dreaming about him didn't work. Hmmm...

southpaw285 18. Yes, this is just so very sad. She literally feels like she is broken, that she always has been, and it's just a matter of time before they find out and put her in that ward, which is her absolute worst fear. She really sees no way out, and knows she can't hide the fact that she is different for much longer. Seems as though she has no hope.

19. Taking away the pain of someone else, yes that was an interesting twist. It was so very descriptive too, how the author portrays is...she was gathering up the pain in her arms and it overflowed. I think she was out for several hours if I remember correctly - 10 or so, not sure. She was out along time. Interesting concept - taking someone's pain away.

20. Yes, and he is very, very precise. I wonder what that means. He cut his victim 79 times, and each of the cuts were the same depth. Weird. And the turning the mind to mush... so we know that the Psy can defenitely get in your head and control your thoughts, and just really mess you up. It was interesting to me that Lucas' description was the mind was mush, but the skull was intact. So this killer is just really, really bad. It's not just a physical killing. He destroys the mind as well.

21. I think it's funny that Lucas doesn't think Sascha smells like the other Psy. I wonder if other Changelings would be of the same opinion - say Kit for instance?

22. I took the marking to be the typical male thing, saying "hey, this is mine, don't touch". I also wonder though if he is trying to protect her by marking her.

23. Yeah, I liked that she was jealous of Rina. I thought it fun to see that side of it as well, and then try to talk herself out of it. I think Sascha thought that by dreaming about Lucas she would get him out of her system, which obviously didn't work. So now really, she's back to square one so to speak. She has this very strong attraction, she has no hope of surviving for much longer because she is so broken. It's going to be very interesting to see how the author pulls this off. And as for Lucas' attraction to her, he has to be pulled in so many different directions about it because he would basically be sleeping with the enemy. How are the Pack going to react to that?

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Questions for Chapters 12 - 15

Wow! So much happens in this part.

24) So Sascha didn't tattle on the Changelings. Interesting.

25) "I need to be a part of something, even if that means I'm part of a race of killers. If I'm not Psy then what am I?"

26) 'Cut off from it for much longer than a minute or two, she'd die a miserable death.' Hmmm...sounds a little like how the changelings have to be in constant skin contact, the Psy need constant mental contact.

27) We get a better insight into Lucas. He's been acting a little out of character by touching her and seems to have formed an attached to Sascha and is afraid of that attachment.

28) "She appears so vibrant, so full of joy and life. He wants to take that from her, wants to keep it for himself." Wonder what his connection is to all the victims? How does he find them?

29) Teleportation is a skill some Psy have? Wonder what else they can do.

30) Now we learn about the NetMind. I'm not sure but it sounds like something that monitors the PsyNet?

31) What did you think of Sascha's breakdown? Could she just be overwhelmed with feelings or is she truly going insane?

32) We get a nice view of how the changelings function in a pack.

33)I wonder if Rina will be a problem later?

34) Ghosting the PsyNet? Interesting.

35) She felt a brush of fur against her cheek? That is even more interesting. I'm thinking it was Lucas?

36) So there are 7 councilors. We find out more about the Psy hierarchy and Council.

37) Shoshanna and Henry Scott sound like interesting Psy. I'd like to know more about them. They're married. Did they truly do it to be seen as more human?

southpaw285 24. No, she didn't, but she came very close. I was surprised by this, as I thought she was really going to. I'm glad she didn't. This part is a little confusing for me because if someone was going to expose you but they didn't, and you found out about it, I would not be quite so forgiving. However, this is just a story, so I have to lay that aside. It just seems Lucas was too quick to forgive her, if that makes any sense.

25. I think this is part of her needing to belong somewhere even if it is wrong. As she says, she needs to be a part of something. Which we know this makes her different than the others because her need to belong means she has emotions and feelings. The other Psy would not have this need I don't think, as they are not human - they don't have needs, they don't feel, have emotions, etc.

26. It's going to be very interesting to see how Sascha comes through this. Will she somehow get disconnted from the PsyNet and survive? Will she have to stay connected to the PsyNet? I have to say, at this point, I really don't know if she will even live.

27. I think Lucas is finally coming to terms with what he really feels for Sascha. At this point, he may not like it, but he's starting to deal with it, and trying to figure things out. This type of thing right here is what really makes me like the way this author writes. I'm a romance junkie, and freely admit that. However, it can get old, with the same formula so to speak being written all the time. You have the guy, you have the girl, you have the one obstacle to overcome in a relaitonship, and then everyone lives HEA. In this book, the H and h face many, many obstacles that will have to be reasonably resolved in order for the HEA to happen. This is not short and sweet, but very complex.

28. You have to wonder with this being said, if perhaps he "sees" more life and vibrancy in some than others. Then he targets the ones that seem so full of life and vibrancy. What is it about this killer that he feels the need to steal that life so full of vibrancy? What drives him to do that?

29. It's interesting that some Psy have certain functions, while others do not. Is this all in the programming? And if so, who determines what Psy gets to be programmed for what?

30. I think of it as all these "minds" floating around out there in space. Lol.

31. Sascha's breakdown was sad. I don't think she is really going insane, but I think she thinks she is. I also think everytime she comes into contact with Enrique it causes her to react in some way. Enrique is very scary to me, and I wonder if he is out to destroy Sascha.

32. Yes. In this section, we've seen Lucas have to deal with a member who is very uncooperative. Because they've gone light handed with Rina, it's now become a problem. It's interesting to see how Lucas deals with that, and interesting too is Sasha's reaction. Typical female reaction I think - she wants to get right in the big middle of his business when she thinks he is being too rough. Lol. I like that she does that though.

33. I wonder if Rina will rat out Sascha? Do you think Rina would go to the Psy and tell them what is really going on?

34. This is something that she seems to have been doing to a certain extent since childhood. Remember she says she would do this, but not go where a child was not supposed to go?

35. Yes, I think this was Lucas. This brings back to mind the dream thing.

36. Yes, so that there can never be a tie. There is always one to break the majority vote. Which, I find this to be interesting because they are a law unto themselves. They are all self serving, no one would think twice about destroying another member, so what does it really matter?

37. I found this interesting as well. And you have to wonder why they chose to have a human style marriage. I wonder if one has some element of humanity in them.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Questions for chapters 16 - 19

38) The PsyNet is like the internet but linking minds instead of computers.

39)We now know the classifications of the Psy. What are F-Psy? and E-Psy????

40) Do you think Lucas should heed her warning about completing the Mating dance? Notice how he put all the blame on her? lol

41) She used Hilary's line about baking cookies. lol

42) These guys are definitely a touchy feely kind of group. Definitely reminds me of cats.

43) "He lapped at her like a bowl of milk..." Clever description as we're dealing with cats.

44) So now we know that the Silence didn't work. So why is it still in practice?

45) So does Lucas do the alpha image justice? Is he too much, not enough, or just right?

46) Whose plan do you think would work better for capturing the killer the council's or Sascha's?

southpaw285 38. Wow, now if you really think about this, it's very scary. Lol. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want anyone linking to my mind.

39. I guess her grandmother was an E-Psy, but I don't think she has said yet what an E-Psy is. She did say the highest is an F-Psy - again, I've not seen that explained yet.

40. Well, I can see Sascha's point about completing the Mating dance, but Lucas I don't think would ever listen to her about it. Sascha is so convinced that the end is near for her, and she doesn't want him to have to go through the heartbreaking loss of losing someone again, like he went through with his parents.

41. Yes, I loved this! So she's mentally going through stuff she "stole" while ghosting. He's been out in the field. Before he left, he told her to stay out of the PsyNet. He comes back, she's still sifting through stuff - mind you, not in the PsyNet. What does he do? Automatically assumes she's been on the PsyNet, like he told her not to do. This was hilarious to me. Already he's trying to boss her around. She stands up to him, but good though. And yes, I loved the baking cookies thing.

42. Yes, they are always touching. And remember this is something Sascha has had to become accustomed to because the Psy do not like touching. Remember in the beginning when she first meets Tamsyn, and how Tamsyn reached out to take her hand when they were introduced? Then Tamsyn remebers the Psy don't like touch.

43. Yes, very apt descriptions I think.

44. No, the Silence didn't work. And what's more - the Council has known for some time that is wasn't working. It's going to be very interesting to see what happens with the Silence in the next books, and with the Psy in general.

45. You know, at times I think he's just too much. Like when he "preened" about her jealousy. But that's just so typical, is it not? Over all though, I guess he's just right. I think the author has them both balanced very well. Meaning, just because he so alpha, Sascha still stands up to him and doesn't back down. She never has.

46. I'm not sure. It would seem that Sascha's plan will also be her downfall so to speak. So, I'm really on edge about this and how it's all going to work out.

I will say that I don't like how the Council plans to "keep him satisfied" (I'm not sure this is the exact terminology used), if they have to. They don't know his identity, but the jist of it was, if he turns out to be someone they can't afford to get rid of, they are willing to bring him victims to keep him happy. They will just choose girls from Packs that aren't that strong, and so therefore can't pose a problem for them.

We are really fixing to get down to the action now, I think. The next four chapters should prove very, very interesting.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Southpaw said, "Wow, now if you really think about this, it's very scary. Lol. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want anyone linking to my mind."

Yep, all your dirty little secrets could be accessed. Can you imagine how different that PsyNet connection would be after Silence was implemented?

She also said, " Well, I can see Sascha's point about completing the Mating dance, but Lucas I don't think would ever listen to her about it. Sascha is so convinced that the end is near for her, and she doesn't want him to have to go through the heartbreaking loss of losing someone again, like he went through with his parents. "

True, it seems like a doomed relationship. Don't you just love it when an author does something like this and you wonder to yourself, "How the heck is she going to pull a HEA out of this one?"

"Yes, I loved this! So she's mentally going through stuff she "stole" while ghosting."

You know between the PsyNet internet comparison and the description of her mentally going through all the information she obtained while surfing the PsyNet, it almost seems like the Psy mind works like a computer. Almost like she's got a photographic memory not just for sight but for sound and everything else as well. Truly interesting descriptions. Now with Silence they're as cold as computers too.

47) So there is a family that has managed to break free of the PsyNet and survive by creating their own mini PsyNet. Interesting they don't wish to have her join their little network.

48) Even more interesting that they believe changeling minds might be able to provide a similar network for her. With Lucas' Psy ancestry, I can't help but wonder if that could somehow increase the possibility.

49) Sascha would willingly sacrifice herself to stop the serial killer. Do you think if the odds of her surviving this whole development were higher she'd do the same thing?

50) So She's an Empath. Makes sense. If she can take emotion away and soothe people does that mean if the killer came after her she could fix him?

51) The phrase "You've come a long way, baby" is dancing through my head for Sascha. She was acting like a cat. Like someone unlocked her inner kitten and she roared to life. lol

52) So the big question is can she survive a net cut????? Will the theory of a changeling network work?

southpaw285 47. Yes, but according to one of them, they can't break their link because if they do, the two youngest ones will try to reconnect to the PsyNet, and they will all be found and killed. Also, one of those brothers seemed more cold to me than the other (it could just be me though), and I wonder if he will pose a problem in the future.

48. I found that very interesting, and wonder where it will lead in future books. She won't let Lucas do that though, because she says it will destroy him - like sentencing him to a slow death.

49. Good question. I'm not sure. I would tend to say yes, as I think she sees this as a way of redeeming herself. Remember when her and Lucas were fighting about it and she aked Lucas to let her do it so that she could die with honor (or something like that)?

50. You know, that thought never entered my mind. Very good point. The general consensus is that he can't be fixed, wouldn't you say? This is fiction however, so perhaps he could be fixed. It's interesting though, that we never read a fiction book where the serial killer is fixed. At least I haven't. Have you?

51. Lol. How appropriate. I found something on youtube...check it out:

Maybe we should start a Psy-Changeling Playlist. Lol

52. Yes, but she has to catch a serial killer first. She has to survive or we won't have our HEA. Ms. Singh must somehow pull this off. And yes, I love her writing style. These are seemingly impossible odds. It's not just your everyday average romance. It's way more complex than that.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Josey and the Pussy Cats! I loved them when I was little. :) A Psy-Changeling Playlist would be fun.

Rue about catching the serial killer first.

53) Enrique was the serial killer. Talk about abuse of power. It really wasn't a surprise (He seemed to be the only suspect), but I didn't really mind.

54) So Silence created the perfect serial killers. Lovely. They experience no remorse, no sympathy, no hate, they just had the mentality we can so we will.*shudder*

55) How did you like the connection Sascha established with Lucas as the alternate to the PsyNet?

56) 1979. Should have know there was significance behind the number of slashes.

59) What did you think of the confrontation with Enrique?

57) What did you think of the book overall? What will or have you rated it?

58) Did you have any favorite quotes?

southpaw285 53. I wanted it to be Engique. Lol. Mainly because I didn't want it to be anyone else, but also because I didn't like him. Listen to me...that is terrible for me to say. "I don't like him, so I want him to be a serial killer". I'm terrible!

54. Yes, a power unto themselves. That is always, always a very dangerous thing. Don't you wonder what will happen to the Silence in the next books? Sure it will be done away with.

55. I thought this was really cool, the way Ms. Singh pulled this off. And really, what better "connection" for either one of them, right? It does seem a little bit convenient, but again, she had to jump through a few hoops to make it happen, so I'm good with it.

56. I never caught that. I don't even remember reading about it being 1979 in the beginning, though I know I must have done so. This just goes to show me, I need to slow down, and pay more attention. It does seem appropirate thought because he said 1979 was the year their world began. That's when all of his true power came in to play.

57. I loved this book. It had so much complexity to it. I know I keep saying that, and maybe it isn't the same for others who have read the book. I'm primarily a romance, mystery, and historical fiction reader - romance being my favorite at the moment. Sometimes in the romance genre, this can just get too routine. It's the same old, same old. What I loved so much about this book was how the author threw in all these obstacles in the way of two people who fell pretty hard for each other - and then pulled off the HEA. In the beginning, as a reader, I didn't see how in the world the H/h were ever going to be able to be together. It was a five star read for me.

How about you? What did you think, and what did you rate? Are you excited to move on to book two?

58. My favorite quote comes close to the end, when they have just found the Psy family. Lucas whispers in Sascha's ear - "Kitten. Stop hurting." Then he picks her up and puts her in his lap. Very cute, very funny. How about you? Did you find any favorite quotes?

I've really enjoyed reading and discussing this book with you. This was my very first ever buddy read, so I'm just learning how things work.

I'm really looking forward to book two.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments 53) What I love about books is they free us a little from the constraints of society standards. I once declared I hated a character for the way he treated my favorite character yet would never say that of a real life person. Okay I confess I probably did once or twice when I was a kid. I think it's part of the fun of having a pretend world. We can feel as much or as little as we want.

54) I think this will be a fun series to see how everything plays out. I link there will be layers to this one that we might not see till the end.

55) It was a great way to connect them. I can't wonder if this is the book that inspired a bunch of other authors to explore the whole Pack bond connection. In the past couple of years authors have been going heavily into their descriptions of how they work in a way that is somewhat visual.

56) This is not the first time I've seen the number of cuts in a case such as this to hold some significant meaning. That's why I felt I should have picked up on this one.

57) I rated this one 5 out of 5 stars. I adore Nalini's books they're dark seductive and oh so addictive.

58) So here's my favorite moment:
'For one instant, their minds were one and he saw how desperately, how wildly, how unreasonably she loved him--enough to break a promise, to choose death so he could live.

She saw how much her panther adored her, how his heart beat for her alone, how life would turn into death after she was gone. The beast was angry at her for attempting to deny him his mate, and the man was beyond angry, but beneath the anger was hunger, need, love. Such intense, furious love that it had no beginning and no end.'

Favorite one liners:
"Purr for me, kitten."
"Oh, yeah, kitten, I want to play."
What can I say? I like the Kitten comments.:)

I never would have guessed this was your first buddy read. Originally we set up the group to just go over the reactions to the book after reading it. Then someone suggested we do the reads like this and we were hesitant for quite some time. I'm not even sure how we started reading the books this way. It might have been after we did a buddy read for A Game of Thrones. The book was too big to read in one sitting. Any how, I really like getting other people's reactions and trying to guess what will happen before it does. Sometimes we get crazy insane ideas and they wrong and other times they're right. But it makes the reading a book much more enjoyable and I will even admit it can change the way you see a book too because of some added insight from someone else.
