whew!!!

Stacy, that is EXACTLY what I do. I have a post-it note stuck to the last page of each section, with the date written on it that I need to read to that spot by. I love ripping of and throwing away those post-it notes.
And I love your word...post-it-ed!
And I love your word...post-it-ed!

Ooh...I didn't think to write the dates on the post-it's! What a good idea! My husband thinks I'm silly enough having a book full of postings taking up residence on the coffee table...I wonder what he's going to say when I start writing on them with a big fat marker.
Your husband will probably just start ignoring your book pile, as my husband does!
(you will see I not only have a post-it-ed copy of Suitable Boy, I also have a post-it-ed copy of Arabian Nights!)

I base my post-its on Meg's schedule, which I will copy here and add my notes:
READING SCHEDULE
Read up to 3.9 to begin discussion
so I put a post-it note at chapter 3.9 in my book (which was on page 149 in my hardcover copy), since Meg says to read up to this point to begin the discussion, and the date on that post-it note is Aug 5th, because Meg says...
August 5: discuss through 3.9 read up to 5.8
So, with my post-it dated Aug 5th, I know I need to read the book till this part by Aug 5th to discuss it.
My next post-it note is on chapter 5.8 (page 258 in my book) with the date Aug 12, because I have to read through to this point by Aug 12th for the next part of the discussion, which Meg says is "discuss through 5.8". Etc. Etc.
August 12: dicuss through 5.8 read up to 6.27
August 19: discuss through 6.27 read up to 7.35
August 26: discuss through 7.35 read up to 9.7
September 2: discuss through 9.7 read up to 10.20

October 7: discuss through 15.21 read up to 17.10

As long as you don't re-post it with a changed schedule...because then I would have to re-post-it it! LOL

Seriously though, it is not bad and Meg, you will appreciate as I am that the first part is about a wedding. (we both can sympathize with that!) although (view spoiler)

Argh! Ulysses is haunting us! LOL

As for Ulysses, it is a snippet but made me chuckle. You will find that as you read and/or watch movies there will be many Ulysses references.
I am enjoying the book so far. And, it is readable and I am understanding what I am reading. What a relief!

I love how Ulysses has changed our standards for books. Now we are happy if we can just understand what we are reading! LOL
I do agree this book is very readable though. I started last night and had no issues, other than flipping back to the family tree several times to try to keep who was who straight in my mind.
I also admit I got a chuckle out of the "A Word of Thanks" poem from the author at the very beginning of my book before the table of contents, especially the last two lines. :o)

Ulysses does get into lots of things right..I guess you can always refer to it and since only 10% understand it, you will be pretty sure that whatever you write will be ok for the other 90%.

Thanks! Still thinking.....should I or shouldn't I, lol. Indian culture is so interesting.

Meg, as always, you are a good woman.

Today in the mail I received the book. What a journey to get this one. But I have it and I can finally start reading!

You all weren't kidding about weightlifting. I didn't know this one is longer than War and Peace!

however the cost is 13.99
so far I have found nothing that is free/and/or worthwhile

Welcome Vicki! I am so glad you got it, you see it is meant to be.

I hope you'll join in, Laura.

I tried googling that, but couldn't find it, so I assumed there was no Cliff's Notes for it. Did you find it, Meg?

I thought searching for a digital version when amazon didn't have one would turn up something... No such luck, the only thing that I did find was there is supposedly a sequel coming in 2013. Thought you guys would want to know :)
Anyone else worried about being able to keep up? I suppose I need to make up my mind! It's almost too late to wait on a used copy to arrive and it was $22 at B&N.
