Cj I read Flowers In The Attic and that whole series when I was a teen- I was so obsessed with it then, now as an adult looking back, they really were twisted!

First Romance Novel Read: The Cowboy by Joan Johnston, it was given to me by and old lady who had a flood in her basement i still have the ugly mildew copy even though i bought a newer nicer smelling one for memories sake.

I know I'm going WAY back here, but has anyone ever heard of "The Sheik", and "Sons of the Sheik" by E.M.Hull? Really popular back in the 1920s, and they made movies (silent, of course) out of both of them starring Rudolph Valentino (who was Italian, but looked "Latin", leading to the "Latin-lover image"...until he died of appendicitis in a day when surgery was rare.)
My Mom still owns both of them! I guess they were actually the first romance novels I ever read. Lots of lurid glances, filled with meaning. And lots of euphemisms, because even in romance, sex was NEVER discussed back then!

AH welcome and I am fairly new to the group as well. Twilight also hooked me back into reading. Everytime I tell someone that Twilight hooked me in - especially non-readers - I get the roll of the eyes. I figure it is better for me and much more enjoyable than watching TV!
