For the record, we have not had to kick anyone out of Koontzland :-) there have been two people that have voiced their strong opinions and left of their own choice. We want people to stay in Koontzland. We stand by the phrase "Koontz fans of all varieties are welcome here". Dean's variety in writing brings a variety of fans - so stick around, it's gonna be a fun ride.

Jen (reader44ever) | 283 comments lol you two...I wasn't seriously afraid of being kicked out. I don't know if sarcastic is the right word for what I meant by saying "can I stay?" but I'm sure you get the point. ;) I love reading Koontz, though he will never be one of my favorite authors. That said, though, he is probably my favorite within his genre. :)

He will never be one of your favorite authors? What the Hell!?!? That's it - we're kicking you out! (I'm being sarcastic in case you didn't know :-)

Hey! I did say he's my fave within his genre! Doesn't that count for anything?

I'm just more of a romantic suspense reader at heart, sorry. But I have varied tastes and will read just about anything (I draw the line at westerns and literary fiction).

(And I did note your sarcasm, and heartily approve of it, too!)

Josh I just finished Odd Interlude and it is probably the best Odd book I have read yet. This is only my fourth Odd book, but I enjoyed it the most. My only complaint is that(view spoiler)

I felt like Dean set the table nicely, even served some awesome hors doeuvres, but didn't deliver the main course. Any thoughts for those of you who have read this?

Odd Interlude will be our June 2014 Group Read

Diane Lynch (dianedesmarrstlynch) | 486 comments Cool. I don't think I read that one.

Tracy | 528 comments Love this book! But then again I love all the Odd books.

I've read Odd Thomas, Deeply Odd, Brother Odd, Odd Hours and finishing Odd Apocalypse.

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments Rather than list what I have read, it's easier to list what I haven't. Haven't read Oddkins, the Frankenstein
books, some originally published as Owen West and Leigh Nichols books. I think there is a Trixie one I haven't read.

I really enjoyed Odd Interlude when I first read it. I hope I enjoy re-reading Odd Interlude in June :-)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments I finished Odd Interlude rather quickly. Also I figured out my confusion. Originally I guess it was put out in digital form in three different episodes and now what I read is one book.

I liked it again. Jumps right into the action. For some reason I thought there was more with Annamaria.

Once again I enjoyed a re-read of this even though I knew some of what was coming. It was still fun to explore it again and to me, it had a lot of suspense. Odd gets right into the action. This moves more quickly than some of the other Odd books. I am re-reading them in order so between Brother Odd and Odd Interlude, I read Odd Hours. So it's nice to follow the sequence and to be set up for Annamaria's part in the Odd Journey.

One thing was a little difficult for me (view spoiler)
I am anxious to read what everyone else thinks about Annamaria and who she is.

I immensely enjoyed rereading Odd Interlude :-) I can relate so much to Jolie Harmony with her wise ass attitude and I love Ed - reminiscent of Demon Seed but with significant improvements in personality.

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments I loved Ed too. Of course he reminded me of Hal in many ways and liked Odd's references to Hal. I didn't care much for Demon Seed because of his being so bad. I guess you could said Ed was at the opposite end of the computer keyboard.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
Ummm..... I know this is gonna sound lame but who exactly is Hal? What movie or TV Show does this reference? If it is a Star Trek or Space Odyssey thing that is why because I don't really watch those. I didn't realize I like Sci-fi until I watched The X-Files and reading Dean Koontz of course :-)

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments Hal is the bad computer in Space Odyssey. I don't remember the movie just the references to it. Hal has this nice calm voice as he slowly kills the astronaut, Dave. You might see other pop references in various places. I imagine maybe in the future Odd will become a pop reference too. I can see someone saying "Oh he thinks he's a real Odd Thomas". While I was reading the other day I thought ... wouldn't it be neat to have a little restaurant and name it "The Odd Thomas Grille"

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 884 comments Okay Dustin now you got me going. I decided that 2001: A Space Odyysey is one of the books I am going to read while waiting for the release of Saint Odd. (I am such an impulsive person!) So if anyone wants to go on a group mini read with me ...

Diane Lynch (dianedesmarrstlynch) | 486 comments Love Odd Thomas Grill idea. You'd probably have some legal issues to straighten out with Dean. He'd probably love it too.

Barb (bjkbooklover) | 8 comments is this the fifth or sixth in the series?

Tracy | 528 comments Barb wrote: "is this the fifth or sixth in the series?"

It's actually in between 4 and 5.

message 73: by PF (new) - rated it 4 stars

PF O'Friar (wineamyhouse) I have 2 beefs with Interlude.
I will begin 5 tomorrow.
I know it is supposed to be a side track adventure and the consequences may not leak to the main continuity but.

In 4th, Odd have a big laceration that he covered with duct tape and that was not mentioned again. Since O.I. it was direct after O.H. how that was not a problem.

and about the timeline, Odd mentions Avatar that was in released in 2009. And about the smart phone capability for filming the fire. I am not sure that was that advanced even for 2009.

He clipped his phone in his belt in the first and it was so early early 2000's. lol.

So if first was 2003, based in release date, wasn't he supposed to be around 2006?

You are very observant Paola :-)

PF O'Friar (wineamyhouse) lol,

and here references to Moonlight Bay in O.I., just for fun.

(view spoiler)

message 76: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 486 comments I guess the Moonlight Bay references in Odd books were just a tease!!! :(

Well, if the timeline is right and Thomas is in 2009, Chris Snow would be 38. and even he was not sure that he could survive that long with XP.

also, Thomas had a Mystery Train T-shirt.
But Snow is
(view spoiler)

weird
maybe I'm a detail freak :D

message 78: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 486 comments No Paola....not a detail freak.....I was just hoping Dean would have them meet up.....I want Christopher's story finished !! :D

message 79: by PF (new) - rated it 4 stars

PF O'Friar (wineamyhouse) So do I! I want snow's requiem.
and I hope we will gonna get it someday.

But they may not meet, for the in-text technical reasons also that both are told in first person narrative.
The way they tell the story is the soul of it.
Maybe if they have alternated chapters changing narrators.

message 80: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 486 comments I will be surprised at this point if they did....for all the reasons you stated.....Oddies last book though and it will be sad.....I think I like Christopher a little more than Odd
