I can't remember how I worded this question last night but I'll try. What advice would you have for us would-be writers who have stories to share but aren't sure how to balance honesty and privacy?
I'm awkwardly mobile-lurking since I can't get home for a bit, and can't seem to access twitter.Mighty suspicious :)
Jenny- you mention your "Flashdance" era- leggings, off-the-shoulder shirts, etc. Recently, movie studios are apparently running out of ideas and are rehashing the oldones. They've remade Footloose, Fame, and are trying to remake Dirty Dancing. If/when "they" remake "Flashdance" (and you JUST KNOW THEY WILL), who should play the Dancing Welder? And where will Irene Cara fit into this remake?
Sonofabitch. ipad doesn't support Adobe Flash Player. I think I should have a drink and consider writing them a strongly-worded and slurred letter.
2 things!!:1. Did you say that you don't have any plugs in your bedroom?
2. (not a question)- I want to see the cats before the end of this :)
So I don't remember what chapter this is in so I may be way ahead, but I have to say I don't have a problem with necrophilia. I mean, it should be consensual and all, but if you can donate your organs or donate your body for science, then why not donate your dead body for necrophilia? I mean, I personally wouldn't want anyone but maybe my husband using my body as such after I was dead, and I can't really see him wanting that, but if did I'd be ok with that. But maybe there are people out there who would want to donate their bodies more generally. You could maybe even set rules about how your body could be used and all. So yeah, if you're into that I'm totally for necrophilia, so long as it's consensual.
My mom has suffered from severe mental illness since before I was born. In the 70s there was no medication and little to no understanding or support. She had to take hard core medication because that was all that was available, and has brain damage because of it. I have been an advocate for mental illness my entire life because of this. I also suffer from depression and anxiety. Thank you for openly discussing your issues and being so honest. It means so much to so many people.

Also! Don't read this book while your students are taking an exam. They will be annoyed at your snorting.

Mental illness is rampant in my father's family, (so of course I had to inherit some too) all his sibling have their certificates—daddy's is severe alcoholic manic depression. I totally understand both the alcohol and it's relationship to the primary illness. Regardless, I can't bring myself to call "it" (manic depression) "bipolar." I don't understand what is so demeaning about the original description. I believe the two words have more power in helping "others" understand the disease. Bipolar make me envision a planet, not a person. Is my refusal to embrace the word bipolar such a bad thing?

We're gonna need some kind of cold storage for preservation.
