I just started re-reading "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. And when I finish that I'll go right into the sequel "World Without End". Both fantastic novels that incorporate my love of history and archaeology with first rate story telling. I can recommend them highly and can loan them to anyone with a nook or maybe even a kindle. My heart skips a beat at the thought of a really long series that will keep my attention for days on end!
I finished Gone Girl and wrote a review. It kept going right to the very end. I'd love to talk about this one with someone else who read it... so somebody grab a copy! I hadn't mentioned that I started Retief!, which is a space opera about a swashbuckling diplomat. I had gotten halfway and paused while I read Gone Girl as it is a collection of short stories and had started to feel a bit repetitive. Still fun though. Finishing that now!
So, I want to eventually read Pym which is about some people who try to find the "lost" ending of Poe's only novel The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket & Related Tales. So I'm reading Poe's book first. I'm so excited to get going on our first group book!
I finished Vengeance because of encouragement to continue the series made by two of my friends. They made their positive statements after I panned the first book in a review. Well, the second book didn't get any worse, but it still isn't my cup of tea.
I also read the novelette The End of the World which I got for free. The cover, synopsis, and some reviews really appealed to me. I HATED it. Worst book I've read all month (howdyalikemenow Dead Until Dark lovers?!?)!
I am quickly reading through A Conspiracy of Friends by Alexander Smith McCall who wrote the #1 Ladies Detective Agency series. I am enjoying the characters and especially the dog Freddie de la Hay, the faithful terrier owned by William. This is the third book in the Corduroy Mansion series. Need to finish so I can start our book of the month selection.
I have put aside the smut to enjoy Gone Girl. I have just gotten to part two! WOW!!!! I felt it was a bit slow at the very beginning, but then you quickly realize something is off... Then it is nearly impossible to put down.

Then it is nea..."Ok, I'm going to have to read Gone Girl and Ghosts of Belfast simultaneously so we can talk about it!
I finished Poe's novel and wrote my review which can be found here:Review of Poe's ...Pym
On to Ghosts.
I feel schizophrenic in my reading habits right now. I am normally a one book at a time girl, but that has not been true for me in June. I am a little over half way through A Dance With Dragons. I am also reading How Not To Run A B&B it is very cute with short stories and recipes which correlate to each story. In preparation for our combined 60's themed birthday party in July, I am researching with The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Sixties Cookbook: More than 100 Retro Recipes for the Modern Cook. I am also dabbling in The Flat Belly Fix: Your Pain Free Flat Belly Solution and 99 Superfoods.

I finished Kafka on the Shore and wrote a review. I continue to adore Murakami.
The Zombies of Hobbiton: A Martian Love Story was a short, free, and terrible book. Ugh. I'm about to give up on the free books.
And right now Gone Girl has me ENGROSSED. It is superb and you should read it now. Intense and dark and twisted. I'll be done in a few days and should have a review up then. Don't wait, just grab a copy now!
