I started my career as a librarian 30 (ahem) years ago and in those days there was a real shortage for good books for the 8 to 12's. Very different nowadays, when there's almost too much choice! I'm a pony crazy mom of 2 gorgeous teens. By day I teach children and adults with special needs to ride horses and at night try to write the type of horse mysteries I inhaled as a kid.

Hello everyone! I am a mother of 2 and my eldest is a year away from middle school. I was so happy to come across this group, we are always on the lookout for books age and reading level appropriate.
I myself an avid reader, I read everything ..scratch that, not a romance novel fan. I work from home I am an artist, and I teach art at my children's school on a volunteer basis. They love it! And I love that they love it. I am looking forward to discussions and discovering new books from all the authors I see on this list!

Hi. Just found this group. I'm a retired English teacher who pens Arthurian Tales for young readers. I focus on reluctant readers.
Pleased to say that my newest Arthurian adventure has earned the Children's Literary Classics Seal of Approval! Exciting!
I am also gearing up for the new school year and a full (hopefully) schedule of classroom visits. I teach a medieval writing workshops which MG readers devour! Let me know if you are interested.

Hi, Theresa. I'm happy to meet you. As an author of a squeaky clean light fantasy, I can recommend Michaela's Gift with no reservations. The MC is only twelve, though, so it may be a little young for your daughter. There's also some trouble between the girl and her mother, but it ends well for everyone.
