Trayner Bane is a Louisville, Kentucky-based author who never imagined he’d have the pleasure of writing a fantasy/adventure series dedicated to middle grade students (Windhollows) and a future series for young adults (Essencians) in his spare time. His creative works balance vast fantasy worlds and interesting characters with classic themes that children and adults often experience throughout their lives. Trayner enjoys nature, fitness, survivalism in our modern world, reading World War II Pacific theater history, and spending time with his children. In his professional career, he was formerly a red team leader who work

I associate writer’s block with being under a time constraint since I don’t “have to” write. Having said that, sometimes I just don’t feel like writing despite having a creative bug gnawing at me. In situations like this I do something else writing-related. For instance, I’ll think about plot, areas of the Lands of Windhollows (terrain, fauna, etc.), what a certain object’s role is in the series (the stone given to Billy’s father), and anything else that isn’t “writing.” You’d be surprised how productive you can become when you just don’t think about writing.(less)

Adventures in Writing - Glyphs

Putting together a fantasy/adventure book series as an indie author is no small feat. Aside from the time-consuming aspects of character development and storyline, an indie author is also tasked with the process of turning their literary work into the physical art form of a book. This latter half of book creation is when an indie author shifts from writer to creative director to ensure the visi... Read more of this blog post »
