Welcome, Rod. The world is always in need of good books, as far as I'm concerned. All the better if they appeal to middle grade boys.

K. Carters | 1 comments Hi Everyone, I'm K.James Carters and I write the Eryan series of books. I'm looking for reviews, feedback and discussion to garner momentum concerning my work...

By day I'm a KS3 intervention teacher, which means I pull struggling kids from 11-14 out of lessons or before/after school and give them extra reading and grammar exercises. Therefore I'm also looking for the latest trends and works to share with my students. So I'm not just here to promote ;)

Heather Lawson (teevee) Hi everyone,

I'm Heather and I come from bonny Scotland. I write MG adventure/fantasy novels with sprinklings of humour. I've been on Goodreads for a while but have never actively participated in any groups so I'm looking to change that with this one :)

Hiya Heather .... I'm a big fan of Scotland. I travelled there quite a bit a few years ago for work. I mainly visited the Edinburgh area.

Happy to be here, still rather friendless here, so friend me if you dare!

Madoc Fox | 4 comments Hello all!

I’m Madoc. I’ve always enjoyed middle grade fiction, even as an adult. I especially love the fantasy type books that paint a magical world and get you hooked into the adventure. I like that it can actually get quite dark, especially as you follow a series through and it grows in scope.

I’ve also started writing it but have been a bit frustrated classing it as YA but finding it so different to all the ‘teen romance’ type YA out there. I think I’ve had a bit of an epiphany to discover ‘upper middle grade’ as a better description. I look forward to chatting here and getting a better understanding of the genre.

Lula (lulam) Hi, my name is Makenna, and I'm just a middle grade reader. I joined this group because I am a great connoisseur of MG books, and so often you see trashy or just straight up inappropriate books for kids my age. So I decided to join this group in hopes of finding some fresh, appropriate, exciting and fun books. I also think it's going to be fun helping some other people find great MG books. That's about it for now, ciao!

Sally Melia (sally_ann_melia) | 1 comments Hi my name is Sally Ann, and I have read more science fiction and fantasy than I care to remember. I also love SF films. I wrote this book http://ow.ly/uunoW which is also listed on Good Reads. It's about Fun, Fashion and Food in the Capital of Love. Not a good read for Middle Grade kids, but their Moms might like it. Anyhow that's me.

Pink Avenger--does that mean you are pink and avenge things, or that you are trying to save the world from the tide of pinkness? I noticed at Target the other night that there are now three Pink Aisles in the toy dept!

Lorraine Carey (lorrainecarey) | 37 comments Hi all. I have been out of the loop for some time now. I have been busy getting my sequel out there and finishing up another book. I just wanted to comment again on the Inner Movement Trilogy by Brandt Legg. I have introduced it to many of the students I work with and they are crazy about it. If you haven’s checked his work out, please do. Bradt Legg was a child prodigy and is a sheer genius!

Laura (tchrmom2) Hello. My name is Laura and I am an elementary school librarian. I taught first grade for many years and feel as though I have a great grasp on picture books. But, I have had a hard time recommending chapter books to my strongest fourth and fifth grade readers. I joined this group to help motivate me to read these books and learn what is out there that people are enjoying.

Katy (katyhuthjones) | 5 comments LOL! I'm sorry, Rebecca, but you made me laugh. Yeah, French horn is one I never could play; even trumpet messed up my flute embouchure, but I LOVED playing trombone (I was a band director for 16 years, now I just play!) I hope you will play again!!!

When my daughter grew up and left home, I was sad that she chose to take her French horn with her, as if the music would remain after the musician left! I surely couldn't play it. It's a lovely instrument to hear in your house.

It's a lovely instrument when you practice regularly! I read A Devil to Play: One Man's Year-Long Quest to Master the Orchestra's Most Difficult Instrument a few years ago and laughed through the whole thing, but by gum I can't seem to manage the dedication he pulled out in mid-life to get his chops back!

Thank you for what amounts to a recommendation for another book to read. I LOVE it when things come back to reading over and over again. It is what I try to bring to life for my students every day. Recommending the book to my daughter the horn player, too. She lives a long distance away and discussing books keeps us in touch in a special way. Gotta love it.

DeAnna Hi everybody! I followed Laura over this way. I'm a voracious reader of just about everything, and have a large collection of my favorite MG and YA books that I'm now enjoying reading to my kids. We just finished Kid Power by Susan Beth Pfeffer yesterday, and they were clamoring for the sequel, so I ordered Kid Power Strikes Back by Susan Beth Pfeffer from ABEBooks.
