Hi everyone. My name is Mikki Sadil, and I'm also a Middle grade author, recently published by MuseItUp Publishing. I've been looking for a group like this for some time, and am glad it was recommended to me recently. I'm not extremely active in groups, due to time constraints, but I will be around. Thanks for having me.Mikki

Hi Mark. Congratulations on your book. MG stories are a lot of fun to read and to write. Best of luck.

Hi, my name is Marleny and I live in NY. I'm in my tenth year volunteering at my children's elementary school library. I love children's literature and I look forward to contributing ideas to the group as well as picking up ideas for books to read.Very recently I read and loved The Secret Garden as well as Out of My Mind, Wonder and Speak.
Looking forward to being part of this group.
Marleny,Ten years is a long commitment! Your school is fortunate to have you helping out! Glad you've joined us and look forward to hearing about the books you're reading.
Hi! I'm Melissa. I just learned about this group and am so excited to join. I've been a member of Goodreads for several years and while I read broadly, Middle Grade is my favorite (you can tell by looking at my read list!). I love adventure stories and books that make me think. My greatest weakness is a series...I cannot resist them and have to read every book in order, even if I am not loving the latest installment (guess that says I'm loyal to a fault). Goodreads has introduced me to many of my new favorite books so I am looking forward to the recommendations of this group. I am also an author and retired spy (no kidding!). So it shouldn't be too much surprise that I write adventure and spy stories for middle grade readers.
Welcome to the group. I think we're a pretty interesting bunch here.Melissa, I'll send you a friend request.
Hi. I joined this group some time ago but haven't had the opportunity to fully explore until now. I'm a primary school educator in my second year of teaching. I live in Sydney Australia and I have 2 boys (12, 9) hence my interest in middle school reads! Looking forward to reading the reviews and hopefully contributing too.
Hi, Michelle! I serve on my local school board, and have immense respect for all the teachers who do what I could never do!
Hi to all the new members. Nice to "meet" you. I haven't been very active here, but hope to change that after the holidays.
Hi Savannah. Welcome. You've come to the right place for good suggestions. I'm a former fifth grade teacher, and learned to love books while reading with my students. What kind of books do you prefer? Nice to "meet" you.

Glad to have you here! We'd love to hear about the books you like to read.
Hi Joe, Brian, and Colin. While we are happy to welcome you to this group, I'm wondering if you might be looking for a more YA-oriented group--we mostly read and discuss middle grade books, aimed more at the 8-12 or 13 crowd. There are some great GR groups about YA lit, as well, so take a look around!
Joe wrote: "Hello, I just joined the group, mostly to see what other books in the YA genre are out their."Hi Joe,
Glad to have you on board! Hope you join in the discussions and tell us about some of your favorite books.

Welcome to the group. Let us know about your favorite books and hope you find some upper middle grade books you might want to read.
Glad to see so many students finding our group!
Brian wrote: "hi i am brian"Hi Brian! Glad you're here! Add some of your favorite books to our "library" or join in one of our discussions. We'd love to know what you think makes a great book : )
Hello, all. I am a teacher of fourth grade at a parochial school in South Florida. I am always looking for resources to expand my knowledge of middle grades literature. At this time I am especially interested in high interest, low level books for boys. I am always looking for that particular book that may launch the transformation from dormant reader to a book lover. I look forward to discussions with adults who know and love middle grade books. Happy New Year!

It will be great to have your perspective here. Several parents have asked about hi-lo books on other threads, and there is a thread in the LIBRARY folder specifically for this topic. Would love to have you get a discussion going on this with anything you've found so far, because I think there is a lot of interest in this subject!
Hi. I'm Megan, and I teach 11 - 13yr old children language, literature and literacy.I am always looking for new ideas for books and authors, and it's amazing to see so many authors as members in this group.
I am in New Zealand, and am currently on summer break - but studying, so not vacationing as such!! Goodreads is my virtual vacation time...
Looking forward to some lively discussion
Hello everyone! We are new to the group, but not new to working hard to publish good books for young readers! Please check out our next book, Rich Without A Ransom, a middle grade book for girls and BOYS! We'll be offering giveaways soon and if you have a blog and would like to review it, please add it to your bookshelf and let us know! We'll send you a review copy!
Hi everyone!I'm Heidi, a fifth grade teacher and new to this group. I am a book fanatic; not only do I love 'middle grade reads' but I do my best to dip into every genre I can! The most recent wonderful books I've read include Wonder and Out of My Mind, both about "special"/different-abled kids trying to figure out their way in the cruel world of adolescence. Both books really got into my brain and had me thinking for quite a few days (not to mention left me teary... which isn't always hard to do! :)). Anyway, excited to share this genre with other like-minded readers. I'm glad to be a part of this group and hear about new things you are all reading and exploring!

A couple boys in my class have really gotten into them. Also check out 'My Life as a Book' (I think there are a couple in the series). Very quick reads but they are super funny; boys seem drawn to them.
Brent wrote: "i just joined im 13 and my teacher miss winters said we have to join a group so here i am. I like middle grade books young adult books but not 2 much babyish. I like Harry Potter,"My son likes Artemis Fowl and Stormbreaker. He also likes the I,Q series

I have a couple of these in the classroom library, but they are too difficult for this particular student Hopefully, he will be able to take those on before too many months pass. Thanks for the suggestion. I agree that Jack Gantos is a good suggestion at this age. Tashjian's books are made easier to comprehend by the illustrations, and Einstein the Class Hamster night be a possibility. I may have to move my question to the KidLit group.
Hi, My name is Nyssa. I'm a mom of 3 (one who will be entering high-school and a set of twins who will be entering middle school, next school year). I am also a substitute teacher.
My children all read at a very high level, which can be both a blessing and a curse, as it is not always easy to find books that are challenging (they must stay near their lexile level when reading for school), enjoyable and age appropriate.
I also like to stay abreast of what is popular for tweens and teens, as I tend to sub in upper elementary and middle school classrooms.

Elias ZappleHello group! I am Elias Zapple, renowned grower of the world's greatest moustache - Mr Snazzy, and thrower of cabbages. I also, when not berating my slugs, write hilarious children's fiction.
I currently have two books available, Duke & Michel: The Mysterious Corridor and Jellybean the Dragon. Two more should be available soon if my slugs can get back to work and stop holding conventions in the middle of my hallway.

I'm Cynthia Port - new to Goodreads (as a reader and MG author and mom of two MG readers), and excited to find this group going strong. I like humor and historical fiction, but most of all I like great writing. It's wonderful to see so many teachers and librarians here.
Hi, I'm Vila, an MG reader who dabbles in MG writing. I have no kids, no credentials, no publications, but I love Ramona Quimby as much today as I did when I first discovered her. I think Garth Williams should be listed with Michelangelo because of his illustrations in the Little House books. Wilbur the pig makes me cry. Does this qualify me for the group?
V--sounds to me like you are perfect for this group! I haven't ever dared go back and re-read Charlotte's Web, but I still cry over Beth dying in Little Women.

Hi! I'm Rod Barclay from Argyle, Texas, working on my first MG book to be published through Amazon. It is an historical airship adventure in the H.G.Wells tradition, with a twist! I have a few more MG and YA novels in the works that never made it out of the slush pile. I have a self-published adult non-fiction book out, about the history of Auto Air Conditioning, that is doing fairly well. That gave me a little working experience in the indie world. I write my kid books with boys in mind, mainly. I feel marketing will be the greatesst challenge.
