What strikes you in books about the writing that you like? Or don't like?

message 2: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley I hate it when they are too descriptive. They give away enough and more than is required..

message 3: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah1324) | 328 comments I hate when people repeat themselves over and over. I also hate it when people have incorrect grammar, spelling, and puncutation. I really like when people are descriptive (without repeating) and when stories have a good plot!

message 4: by Just Joe (new)

Just Joe (justjoe) In utterly total agreement with Sarah

message 5: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (fabledhattress) An example of what I don't like is Blood Red Road by Moira Young.... —_—

message 6: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley I know!I couldn't get through that book solely because of it's writing...

message 7: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (fabledhattress) I couldn't get past page 20 xD and that was after a week of trying! IMHO, it sounded like it was narrated by an extremely high strung hillbilly!

message 8: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley I didn't past page 5 and didn't bother trying!

message 9: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments I actually liked that one. I mean, the book was set pretty far in the future, it would have been weird if they talked exactly like we do

message 10: by Sierra~Kelley (last edited Jun 17, 2012 07:46AM) (new)

Sierra~Kelley Yeah but it just didn't strike me as..something worth going through all that trouble..I don't know.I have had people tell me that the book was great but I just can't quite get back to reading it.

message 11: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments I don't know, I guess its not for everyone

message 12: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley I guess:)
But I just might give it another shot.

Kelley wrote: "I know!I couldn't get through that book solely because of it's writing..."

What's weird about the writing?

message 14: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments You should, but try to keep an open mind. It's pointless if you go back thinking about how much you hated the writing. I actually stopped noticing it after a while

message 15: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments Oh, Charlie, she had this weird thing where all the characters had accents and she didn't use any quotation marks.

message 16: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (fabledhattress) Exactly! ot bascially sounded like a hillbilly xD

message 17: by Leah (new)

Leah | 64 comments Sarah wrote: "I hate when people repeat themselves over and over. I also hate it when people have incorrect grammar, spelling, and puncutation. I really like when people are descriptive (without repeating) and w..."

Amen

Sierra~Kelley Sherri wrote: "Exactly! ot bascially sounded like a hillbilly xD"

YES!I go by Sherri's words. But I think the plot is good...

message 19: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (fabledhattress) xD bahahahaha!!!!! And no offence, I grew up in Virginia and heard people who talk like that, but reading it while I'm a 'spelling nazi' annoys the crap outta me

message 20: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley :D So true!

message 21: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments I admit, it did get a little confusing, but not so much that I couldn't understand it

message 25: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley Go Charlie!Go!Let me see how you like it!

message 26: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments What is this? Are you using her as a human shield to'make sure it's good?! GASP!!

message 27: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley *gasp*How did you figure it out?!?

message 28: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments Well I happen to be a psychic but that's besides the point

message 29: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley *raises eyebrows*I foretold your reply.so what does that make me?

message 30: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments A stalker or a psychologist

message 31: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley That for me is a compliment!Always wanted to be a psychologist!

message 32: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments Well, that's better than a stalker haha

message 33: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley I guess...but you'll never know*smiles evilly* ;)

message 34: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments A stalker psychologist? O.o

That's a scary thought...

message 35: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley haha

I'm not even sure that's legal..

message 36: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments Of course its illegal! How do you think we've avoided the zombie apocalypse for so long?

message 37: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley *feeing offended*
A psychologist has every right to pry!
One way is to enquire and the other is stalk! For the good of the world!

message 38: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments Stalking is one of the biggest warning signs of zombification in its early stages. The brains eating, which happens to be a large part of a psychologists job, comes in later

message 39: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley Um,gross.Are you insulting a future psychologist?

message 40: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments No, just a lot of really weird movies

message 41: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley Uh-huh.Sure.Blame it all on the movies

message 42: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments What are you saying I made it all up? (oh crap I think she's on to me... QUICK!! Hide the evidence!)

message 43: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley *strokes chin*Something you'd like to share?

message 44: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments N-no. Of course not. Why do you ask? *hides suspicious object behind back

message 45: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley *Hides phone behind back and calls on for personal security*

Oh nothing!Seemed a bit too fishie*looks around the room with narrowed eyes*

message 46: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments *shuffles backward and chucks something out of door that appeared from nowhere

Sooooooooooo how's the weather been treating you?

message 47: by Sierra~Kelley (new)

Sierra~Kelley Not too fine I'd say.
*personal security standing below ground catches the object and texts me*

Look what we've got here!

message 48: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments Sorry, gotta dash!

*mysteriously teleports

message 49: by Sierra~Kelley (last edited Jun 20, 2012 12:17AM) (new)

Sierra~Kelley *summons the wizard*
Me:Follow her.See what she's up to.I just got a text from my security about some mysterious flying object,Now go!
Wizard:Yes,my lord
*puffs into smoke*

message 50: by Holly (new)

Holly | 69 comments Pssh, wizards are wimps. They start crying if you tie their shoelaces together
